View 5 Replies View RelatedOver the past few weeks, my sound has been going off and I don't know why. Rebooting makes the sound work again. I tried adjusting the power settings to never enter sleep as one person suggested, but that didn't work. So just now I rebooted and then plugged it into my tv using the hdmi and the sound stopped and I had to reboot. I am connecting it to the same tv using the same hdmi cable as many times before.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem a few times but at random it seems to fix itself. I'm an new IT tech and i'm truly stumpted by this.
Computer: hp folio 13 - 2000 notebook pc: all drivers and software fully updated and 100% virus free. I use the computer mostly on a closed network.
Issue: The sound has random long periods of time where the sound is either on or off. Checked and reinstalled drivers, restarted, went through all the windows audio settings and still cant seem to pin point the issue. I'm considering just replacing the build in speakers and wiring if I dont find a solution soon.
I have an HP Envy dv7-7230us. I recently installed multiple HP updates deemed "critical" by their prompt. After installing and rebooting, I have no sound. If it is a clue, it also disconnected my WiFi.

What can I do to get sound back?
I have an HP Pavilion dm4 that I bought last summer, but I'm not sure which model #s specifically comes after that.
I just updated my HP BIOS and now I am not getting any sound from the speakers or through headphones, this has happened before though I admittedly cannot remember what the solution was.
I have updtaed my windows as regular update but after that no sound from speakers. laptop is showing everything is fine and all sound drivers all working fine so whenever i clicked on scan for hardware changes in device manager menu then speakers starts working fine so every time i have to make that step to enable speaker., already i have uninstalled drivers and updated with default updater but same issue occurs in next boot...
View 3 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I updated from the Windows 8.1 evaluation to the full 8.1 release and since then my audio has not been working. In the control panel, "Digital Display Audio (AMD High Definition Audio Device)" is listed as unplugged. The audio icon on the taskbar is Xed out and clicking it runs the error finder in vain. Speakers no longer show up in the device listing although now that nothing is working I'm not sure if they ever did or if audio just came through Digital Display Audio. Headphones do not show up as playback devices and the volume controls on the keyboard and taskbar are inaccessible.
I have never used external speakers. The Windows 8.1 update seemed to wipe all of my HP and AMD software that came with the laptop so I reinstalled the HP Support Center and searched for driver updates and all that jive but everything shows as up to date. I don't know what else to look for as most of the forums I've seen seem to be talking about their HDMI out sound not working when plugged into a TV and I'm just trying to have sound, period.

My notebook restarted itself to make updates, once i logged on i found that the sound is not working on music files, web pages etc. other than the windows sound. The other thing i noticed is that the mute button will not go off or on? i tried to troubleshoot but nothing..I found that left clicking my sound icon and clicking on playback devices and then left clicking speakers and headphones and clicking 'Test' led to a pop up; "Device in Use.The device is being used by another application. any devices that are playing audio to this device and try again." I have checked everywhere but i can't find the device being used anywhere? I'm not willing to lose by Beats Audio.

I have the Envy 15 which came pre-installed with Win8. When the 8.1 update came out I installed and now can't get any audio when connecting via HDMI to my TV although image is there.
I've ensured all the drivers are updated AFAIK, but in the Device Manager I get the highlighted, obviously as above, the cable is plugged in.
All was working fine prior to the update and I have also used 4 different cables, which are all fine as I also have an old Compaq laptop which is still running Win8 allows audio via HDMI.
I just recently bought an HP - dv6 WF536AV Laptop. The sounds were proper from the built-in Altec Lansing speakers , till i updated the audio drivers via HP Support Utility.
Now i do not get any playback from the speakers mentioned above, but while plugging in my iPod headphones, there is audio in the headphones.
I've tried to reinstall the IDT Audio driver from the HP Support utility as well as one downloaded from the website :
IDT High-Definition Audio Driver 6.10.6289.0
[URL] ....
Yet, nothing is resolved. Of what i understood from various articles on the web, was that the new driver sets the headphone jack as the primary device for audio output and hence it does not reach the speakers.
Also , I'm pretty sure of this not being a hardware conflict since the laptop is recently purchased and i've rarely used the headphone jack.
Following are the details about my system :

Since Windows did an automatic update to my CompaqCQ58 laptop (running on Windows 8.1) on 16th August I've lost all sound.
I've read Mario's methods for correcting the fault, but my list of "Installed Updates" does not show KB2962407.
There is an update on 16/8/14 numbered KB2962409. Is this the one I should uninstall and hide, or am I going to lose some other function of the laptop?
Surely I am not the only one affected by this glitch. Are HP bombarding Windows with demands for them to correct their fault, or are we all expected to repair our own machines!
I'm not sure if it's caused by the Windows 8 update from a few days back, but the problem started around then.
The audio on my laptop is not working. The mute stays on, even when I press the physcial keyboard button to enable sound, and try to enable sound with my mouse from the volume menu. Nothing has audio.
Laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC running Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit.
I've seen some other people mentioning a problem like this recently...
I have changed a setting on this computer and now my sound does not work properly. I dont know what got changed but the windows sound like the bell and the chime take about 10 seconds to play. i can not use windows media player is said the drived is out of date but I checked and the update said I have the most current software. I did try the windows trouble shooter but it couldnot find a problem. I do have beats audio on a dv7-6b63us.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOkay, well the day before yesterday I was trying to watch Youtube but when I clicked on a video it had no sound. I thought it was Youtube, so I exited the site and thought I'd wait a little bit. So then I went to Spotify to listen to some music. I kept clicking and clicking and nothing was happening. Then I noticed a blue notice at the top that said something about my soundcard not working properly.
I then checked everything on my computer to see if it had sound. Windows Media Player...no, videos on Facebook...nope, nothing was working. At first I thought it was my daughter. I let her watch Youtube when she lays down for a nap. I came in the other day and she was hitting all kinds of buttons on my computer. I stopped her though and everything seemed fine. I also remember my computer updating that day. Could it be that something went wrong with the update? I don't know if that's possible or not.
And also, what is a soundcard. Do I have to buy it or do I download it???
I went to Yahoo answers and someone said to uninstall the drivers. I did that and then reinstalled them and it worked. The rest of that day I had sound on everything except for Facebook. Yesterday night it happened again and the sound has not returned since but my computer sounds are still working. When I logged on the computer made the log in sound it usually makes. I also tried to listen to a video with headphones and it still did not work. Again, I uninstalled the drivers and then re installed them and got nothing.
The sound on my HP Pavilion G6-1a19wm is not working. Sound "does" work when using the audio jack with external speakers. I have tried uninstalling the driver, updating the driver, microsoft fix-it, and troublshooting steps. audio device shows in device manager and is supposedly working properly, mute is "not' enabled. visually all audio related things suggest that the audio is fine and troubleshooting finds no problems..

When i play a video or any audio on my browser (Google Chrome and Internet Explorer) it does not work, but when i play a video/audio downloaded onto the pc, it works. Why is that?
I checked all my browser settings aswell and nothing is wrong.
On my computer (an hp laptop 2000, no touch screen or anything) the two finger scroll is already enabled. I have checked the driver and it says I have the most recent one. I even found out a way to get my two finger right click back (which works fine now), but still no luck with the two finger scrolling which I had really come to love on my hp.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBought a new dv7-2000, custom built. Nothing spectacular
As soon as I received it, I formated the drive and installed Windows XP Pro SP3. So far so good. All drivers installed, everything working.
Except for one little detail : I have sound on subwoofer only, no speaker, not even on headphones, no matter what jack I plug in. Sub does turn off when I plug the headphones though.
I tried several IDT drivers, all act the same.
I have a HP Notebook 2000, with Windows 8.1. At some point, the hdmi output to monitor stopped sending an audio signal. The video signal is fine.
It is labeled in Device Manager: 1-STD HDMI TV (AMD High Definition Audio)
The monitor and hdmi cable work fine with other computers. I have disabled/enabled the HDMI device, and also updated drivers (Windows says my drivers are up to date).
This computer is my friends. I don't know what she did to it. I have fixed it before but this has been running a for hours and the same message stays there.
"HP 2000 error failure configuring windows update revertong changes do not turn off computer"
I forgot too say it is Windows 8.
I have an HP laptop 2000, Model # ??. I recently have experience my computer freezing while on a youtube video or even an audio freezing after a few minutes unless I move the mouse/cursor. How do I correct this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed the update for IDT HD Audio (it prompted me to in windows update) and I have been disappointed.
My most important problem: The audio sounds fine though the built-in speakers, however the sound though my headphones (provided by the Independent Dual Headphones profile) is inexcusably quiet. At max volume, it is only at comfortable listening levels. On the other hand, I am glad that it finally switches profiles automatically when I plug in a device via mini-jack.The second issue is the "SRS Premium" feature not working properly: I bought my laptop before they started doing that whole thing, so mine does not have an SRS badge by the speakers like others I have seen, but the update gave me the feature so I just expected that it would work. Thing is, the sliders are all messed up, I can't get it to stay at the percentage that I set it at (screen/app refreshes reset the sliders back to 0%). And even at that, if I manage to get a slider up to 80% whatever, it makes no difference in sound. I tried changing songs in case it wasn't real-time updating but that didn't work either.
I report on an acer Travelmate 4200 laptop with a 1.8Ghz CPU with 1Gb RAM running Vista Home Basic.
About a week ago discovered that no sound was coming from speakers. Device Manager check reveals problem with the Realtek High Definition Audio. D/L'ed the driver from the acer AU website (v.6.0.1.5334), installed it okay but still no sound.
Could this be a hardware issue or have I missed a step in the software configuration?
No sound from my PC. This problem occured weeks ago and no fix or notification from HP.
