Over the past few weeks, my sound has been going off and I don't know why. Rebooting makes the sound work again. I tried adjusting the power settings to never enter sleep as one person suggested, but that didn't work. So just now I rebooted and then plugged it into my tv using the hdmi and the sound stopped and I had to reboot. I am connecting it to the same tv using the same hdmi cable as many times before.

From the last few days i am facing some problems in audio..when i am opening my laptop the sound system is working well...but when i am not continuing any audio application( busy in some other work..) and after sometime say 20-30minutes when i am opening any audio or video file it is running without any sound..when i am restarting my computer again audio device works...if i am not using the audio files after opening my computer also this problem happens after sometimes when i play some audio files.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem a few times but at random it seems to fix itself. I'm an new IT tech and i'm truly stumpted by this.
Computer: hp folio 13 - 2000 notebook pc: all drivers and software fully updated and 100% virus free. I use the computer mostly on a closed network.
Issue: The sound has random long periods of time where the sound is either on or off. Checked and reinstalled drivers, restarted, went through all the windows audio settings and still cant seem to pin point the issue. I'm considering just replacing the build in speakers and wiring if I dont find a solution soon.
I have a HP Notebook 2000, with Windows 8.1. At some point, the hdmi output to monitor stopped sending an audio signal. The video signal is fine.
It is labeled in Device Manager: 1-STD HDMI TV (AMD High Definition Audio)
The monitor and hdmi cable work fine with other computers. I have disabled/enabled the HDMI device, and also updated drivers (Windows says my drivers are up to date).
Discovered no sound yesterday when I used my laptop. Today I tried to resolve the problem thinking it was a simple task, so many hours later I've discovered others suffering the same plight!

I'm not entirely sure what causes them to stop working, but if I remember correctly, the first time I remember it happening was after I had my computer plugged into the TV via an HDMI cable. Since then, the speakers seem to come and go. I think restarting my computer usually brings them back, but I was curious if there was another way to fix them other than that and if I could do something to keep this from happening in the future. Also, I'm interested in finding out why this is happening to my PC.

There is no sound working on my HP and when I try to test it there is a window that shows up saying there is another program running even though I just started up the laptop. The icon on the computer for volume also will not "mute" when I push the button to mute it.
since the past week, whenever i plug my headphones into my laptop sound comes through BOTH the laptop speakers and my headphones. It was working perfectly fine last week. My laptop doesn't have a Realtek driver, it has IDT with beats. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers, and if I had realtek i would be able to change the settings.

i am using a Hp 2000-2312TU laptop. It is just about 15 months old. I use it with windows 8. my laptop was getting heated up a lot. i used sppedfan to test it. temperatures were showing around 83 degree celsius. I took it to a shop and they said some error with heat sink IC and replaced it. Now the temp is ranging between 65-70 degree celsius. is it okay? HDD temp is ~40 deg celsius. I use my laptop always on bed or lap. is a cooling pad must?
P.S. the reason why i took it for servicng is that it showed thermal shutdown messages everytime i was rebooting it.

The speaker icon in the bottom right corner has a small red x on it, when i have the mouse over it, it says 'no audio output device is installed'. I found that updating the driver in sounds via the at control panel but this the said:

My Windows 8.1 Envy m6 is not playing sound through either the internal or external speakers.
I have tried the following fixes with the following results:
1) run troubleshooter - audio services not running. Unable to start it; error states endpoint is duplicate
2) update drivers - no fix (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC - 6.10.6433.0)
3) Change System Sounds - fails to play test tone
4) Device Manager - shows the system is running
5) Restore - no fix
I use an HP ENVY M6 notebook running Windows 8.1, 64 bit. I was seeing a lot of unwanted popups telling me I needed Java or other add ons which I don't. The computer is less than a month old. I went to that day's downloads and deleted everything I found from that day. Since then, I have no sound. I probably deleted something but I thought I was pretty careful. Can I download a sound card?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with my HP Probook 4530s where sound sometimes won't play. I downloaded the approriate audio driver for my computer. If I click on an application that needs administrator permissions and the User Account Control pops up, it won't play the system sound like it normally does. If I click on the speaker icon on the bottom right and adjust the volume slider it doesn't make a sound. I've also noticed that when I stream any type of video on the internet, the video won't play until the sound works again. Sometimes the video plays with no sound, then the sound catches up. I've tried many different browsers but the issue keeps happeneing regarless.
When my computer ran Windows 7, the audio worked fine. Videos always played, and system sounds always executed on cue. My motherboard got replaced at the end of last year due to overheating so I don't think it's a hardware issue. The weird thing is that this issue isn't consistent. One minute the sound could be working flawlessly, but two minutes later the sound just stops working.
I could try and capture a video of the issue I'm having and post it on Youtube, but it's difficult since the issue is sporadic. If I do get a video of it, I'll be sure to post the link.
I installed windows 7 on hp compaq nx9020 (pg751se) and lost my sound. On speaker icon it says no audio device installed. I've checked every where and cant find any sound driver on the laptop. Sound did work when windows xp was installed before windows 7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I updated from the Windows 8.1 evaluation to the full 8.1 release and since then my audio has not been working. In the control panel, "Digital Display Audio (AMD High Definition Audio Device)" is listed as unplugged. The audio icon on the taskbar is Xed out and clicking it runs the error finder in vain. Speakers no longer show up in the device listing although now that nothing is working I'm not sure if they ever did or if audio just came through Digital Display Audio. Headphones do not show up as playback devices and the volume controls on the keyboard and taskbar are inaccessible.
I have never used external speakers. The Windows 8.1 update seemed to wipe all of my HP and AMD software that came with the laptop so I reinstalled the HP Support Center and searched for driver updates and all that jive but everything shows as up to date. I don't know what else to look for as most of the forums I've seen seem to be talking about their HDMI out sound not working when plugged into a TV and I'm just trying to have sound, period.

My notebook restarted itself to make updates, once i logged on i found that the sound is not working on music files, web pages etc. other than the windows sound. The other thing i noticed is that the mute button will not go off or on? i tried to troubleshoot but nothing..I found that left clicking my sound icon and clicking on playback devices and then left clicking speakers and headphones and clicking 'Test' led to a pop up; "Device in Use.The device is being used by another application. any devices that are playing audio to this device and try again." I have checked everywhere but i can't find the device being used anywhere? I'm not willing to lose by Beats Audio.
