HP 2000-2312TU :: Laptop Overheating Running Windows 8
Jun 12, 2014
i am using a Hp 2000-2312TU laptop. It is just about 15 months old. I use it with windows 8. my laptop was getting heated up a lot. i used sppedfan to test it. temperatures were showing around 83 degree celsius. I took it to a shop and they said some error with heat sink IC and replaced it. Now the temp is ranging between 65-70 degree celsius. is it okay? HDD temp is ~40 deg celsius. I use my laptop always on bed or lap. is a cooling pad must?
P.S. the reason why i took it for servicng is that it showed thermal shutdown messages everytime i was rebooting it.

My 2000-41OUS laptop started shutting down with a message from BIOS thermal overheating. It sounded like it was straining, running loudly. I've learned to check Programs and sure enough several were installed I did not download. I removed them and still shutting down. Finally Symantec found a trojan and cleaned it. Running so softly now I cannot hear it. I am worried that overheating may have damaged the thermal grease that protects it. Should I take it to a computer shop and what service should they do?

I've bought a new laptop 1 week ago, and it's running smooth with 1 exception: Everytime I shut the computer down or save energy, it magically forgets it has fans to cool cpu and graphics card. When i try to run a game it will gradually drop fps until it shuts down from overheating. I tried to fully discharge it and disconnect it from the battery to identify the hardware and then set it to standard in the bios, then it works. But the moment I shut down the computer it is the same thing over again. I don't want to do said process everytime I start my laptop..

Over the past few weeks, my sound has been going off and I don't know why. Rebooting makes the sound work again. I tried adjusting the power settings to never enter sleep as one person suggested, but that didn't work. So just now I rebooted and then plugged it into my tv using the hdmi and the sound stopped and I had to reboot. I am connecting it to the same tv using the same hdmi cable as many times before.

After recent, abrupt overheating issues with my xps m1710 I followed a guide here to clean dust out from my heatsync. There was indeed a lot of dust blocking the fans and I removed all of it. After putting everything back together I proceeded to format my pc with no problems. However, I am still experiencing extreme overheating with my pc while simply reinstalling drivers.
I inspected the underside of my laptop (obviously extremely hot to the touch) and noticed that neither of the fans on the underside were running. Is it normal for the fans to not run for periods of time? or should they be running constantly.

I have an HP Pavilion m6 running Windows 7 Home Premium.
My workplace installed a router a few months ago. It's a Cisco E2000. My laptop will not recognize the wireless signal from the router. It recognizes about 10 other wireless signals from other locations outside the office. My phone also recognizes the router and can connect to it no problem. I've installed all the updates for Windows 7 and for the HP laptop. I've also installed the latest driver for the wifi card in the laptop.
Why the laptop does not recognize the wifi?

I recently formatted my laptop to windows 7 ultimate and since then can not get my function keys to work. I've reinstalled drivers that I thought might work and nothing.
When I could no longer adjust my brightness is when I noticed that my function keys were not working. Is there any other way to adjust the brightness on my laptop besides the function keys? If so I have not figured it out.

I have an HP Pavillion model 17-e019dx running Windows 8. Every time I turn it on, it stops at a blue screen that says
Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
A required device isn't connected or cannot be accessed
Error code 0xc000000f
When I press enter to "Try again" it come back with:
File:WindowsSystem32winload.efi above the error code listed above.
I have tried the Recovery and after MUCH time waiting, it still comes back to the above mentioned screen. I have also run all the diagnostics that are available on the laptop and everything come back normal. I don't have the original discs or documentation as I "received this laptop as a "gift/curse" . It is, however, registered to me.

I decided to run CUPID Hardware Moniter and Im getting AMD core temps of 80*C , GPU of 92 ! These are celcious! Like randomly I would hear a wirring sound in my laptop and everything would go soooooooo slowwwww , like huge lag spikes... Thats why I figured if I installed Vista x64 + got 4 gigs of ram it would fix it... but I think my problem is temperature... Besides cleaning out the fans how can I fix this?
I run my laptop 24/7, its my "desktop" It sits on wooden surface so theres no blockage of air flow?

a laptop cooler for the HP DV7t-2000 (17.3" widescreen, approx. important dimmensions 16.2"x10.9"). The laptop does not really get all that hot (except when I am playing games), but I just want to get a cooler so that I can keep the laptop in perfect condition. I want this laptop to stay in the best shape possible for as long as possible.
Right now, I have just been propping the back using some video game cases. But I want something that is a little bit more reliable and powerful.
When the notebook is in use, the vent is at the top left corner. When flipped over so that it is upside down (as is shown in the picture below), the vent is in the top right. Any suggestions that would fit this configuration (I hope it was clear, just wanted to be precise )?

I could understand if I was putting it on a carpet and playing crysis for a few hours.
But I just stream a TV show and it turns off after about 20 minutes. And it is on a hard surface as well.
I've had it since May I think last year.

Have used my HP 2000 laptop many times to connect to a big screen TV using the VGA output jack and hook it to the VGA input of my big screen. Now, for some reason, there is no video output to the big screen, I have tried 3 different cords (VGA to VGA) and get nothing on two, and on the third I get a video transfer but it blinks off and on both on the monitor of the laptop and my big screen with only about 1/2 of a picture showing on both. When it did this, I tried repositioning the output jack on the computer output and it changed the picture somewhat, but could never get it to work.

I have a inspiron 1545 laptop, and every now and then randomly it turns itself off. I think it's overheating, but don't know how to adjust the fan speeds (if you can) and i took the back off and cleaned round the fan, so it's not blocked up. It might be something else causing it to turn off i'm not too sure.

I have an Acer Aspire V3-551 which is having an overheating problem. However, it only overheats when I am playing some game and the laptop is plugged in. It will not over heat when the computer is on battery only. It shouldn't be the power cord because I have bought a new one since the problem started. Also, the heating seems to be coming from where the fan is.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with a Intel Celeron Processor and the past year my cpu has been overheating and eventually causing my laptop to shutoff. This happens a lot quicker if playing graphics intensive games or playing youtube videos. I want a processor that can handle playing games and videos.
Also, one thing I was thinking was that maybe a fan stopped working that is causing the CPU to over heat but when I run a Dell diagnostic no errors come up about a fan not working, so I'm thinking I just need to upgrade.
Below is my System info:
System ModelInspiron 1525System TypeX86-based PCProcessorIntel(R) Celeron(R) CPU
560 @ 2.13GHz, 2128 Mhz, 1 Core(s), 1 Logical Processor(s)
Socket 479 mPGA
Motherboard model OU990C Chipset Intel GM965
BIOS Version/DateDell Inc. A16, 10/16/2008SMBIOS Version2.4
I have to upgrade the CPU in the Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop?

Essentially the issue is that the cpu temperature starts at 50C and rises consistently to around 79C on IDLE. GPU is around 55-60. This continues until eventually the computer shuts off for safety reasons. Needless to say, no strenuous activities can happen on this computer. (games, etc.)
Things I've done:
-Updated the chipset, both video drivers (nvidia and intel), and the bios
-Opened up the entire thing and cleaned out the fan and any other areas that had dust (which was little).
-Removed the original thermal compound and reapplied a fresh and appropriate layer to the GPU AND CPU
Specs:
Windows 7 Professional, ACPI x64-based PC
Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00 GHz
Intel HD Graphics 3000
NVIDIA GeFore GT 525M

For the past few days, I woke up to my laptop's fan rather loud spinning. I noticed that my computer was constantly at 100% CPU usage even with like literally no processes opened, and it's idling ~50C.
It's to the point where moving my mouse across the screen lags, the pointer jumps from one spot to another.
I'm not really sure what the problem is, I ran AVG with no problem, and I don't remember doing anything to my computer in the past few days that would be considered abnormal...in fact, the only thing I did do was try to use a screensaver for the first time ever, but I turned it off with no difference,

I own a S1555 from Dell. Currently i am using the laptop on AC power which is supplied by an UPS. I have removed the battery from the laptop. I have connected the laptop to the UPS because even in the case of power failure, the working will be uninterrupted.
Now my query is, will it harm the laptop in the long term? I read about the laptop overheating in other forums, but strangely mine does not overheat, although i keep mine connected to AC power 24x7. I do all sorts of stuffs like gaming (the most recent one was GTA 4) and word processing on the laptop.

So I know I made another thread about over heating, but it's not drawing that much attention.
A few days ago my Inspiron 1420 was crashing due to overheating (I've had it for a year and a half).
Dell came out, replaced the motherboard, and things were fine until it started overheating AGAIN a few hours after the techie left. Dell came out the next day with a new hard drive, heatsink and fan.
