I am trying to install windows xp sp3 on a hp laptop 2000-2c17cl in legacy mode. Unfortunately xp will not detect the hard drive without the correct SATA drivers without blue screening ( even in legacy boot specified in the bios. ) I cannot find the corect drivers for this laptops hard drive

When I try to search for the device driver ill also mention that it says drive C is not formatted, Anyways, how do I install device driver to reformat harddrive so that I may reinstall windows7? View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows 8, and I am trying to get the latest Dell drivers for Windows 8. I can download the Alps_Touchpad_W8_X02_A01_Setup-CXWXW_ZPE driver, but when running the exe it fails to extract the files. All I get is in the extracted C:DellDriversCXWXW folder is a Version.txt file. There is a popup that then asks if I would like to run in compatibility mode, but doing that does not work either. Also, running as administrator does not work.

I also dont know that how to launch that window in which i can change the boot priority. But in this case i dont know how to install xp. and my next question is that can i play cd in DVD-Dual double layer.

I researched I need the Intel SATA AHCI Driver for performing a clean Windows 7 installation
I tried:
1. Mobile Express Chipset SAAT AHCI controler drivers from the (a) Intel websites (b) Lenovo website and (c) extracting drivers from running system
2. tried supplying drivers on DVD/CD and USB
3. tried to integrate drivers into Windows 7 Installation using RT7Lite
4. did bios update
5. switched from AHCO to compatible mode
In any case it finds the driver as the correct one (when I click hide drivers that are not compatible, the one remains). But always displays no driver found and doesn't continue setup.
This seems to be a bug!!!
1. Is there a way to fix this and perform a clean Windows 7 installation without recovery?
2. Am I trying the wrong driver, but have to install a driver for a different device first???
I am about to replace the HDD with an SDD and there can not use recovery!

The laptop does not really get all that hot (except when I am playing games), but I just want to get a cooler so that I can keep the laptop in perfect condition. I want this laptop to stay in the best shape possible for as long as possible.
Right now, I have just been propping the back using some video game cases. But I want something that is a little bit more reliable and powerful.
When the notebook is in use, the vent is at the top left corner. When flipped over so that it is upside down (as is shown in the picture below), the vent is in the top right. Any suggestions that would fit this configuration (I hope it was clear, just wanted to be precise )?
Over the past few weeks, my sound has been going off and I don't know why. Rebooting makes the sound work again. I tried adjusting the power settings to never enter sleep as one person suggested, but that didn't work. So just now I rebooted and then plugged it into my tv using the hdmi and the sound stopped and I had to reboot. I am connecting it to the same tv using the same hdmi cable as many times before.

I use it with windows 8. my laptop was getting heated up a lot. i used sppedfan to test it. temperatures were showing around 83 degree celsius. I took it to a shop and they said some error with heat sink IC and replaced it. Now the temp is ranging between 65-70 degree celsius. is it okay? HDD temp is ~40 deg celsius. I use my laptop always on bed or lap. is a cooling pad must?
P.S. the reason why i took it for servicng is that it showed thermal shutdown messages everytime i was rebooting it.
Have used my HP 2000 laptop many times to connect to a big screen TV using the VGA output jack and hook it to the VGA input of my big screen. Now, for some reason, there is no video output to the big screen, I have tried 3 different cords (VGA to VGA) and get nothing on two, and on the third I get a video transfer but it blinks off and on both on the monitor of the laptop and my big screen with only about 1/2 of a picture showing on both. When it did this, I tried repositioning the output jack on the computer output and it changed the picture somewhat, but could never get it to work.
