Lenovo X230 Series ThinkPad :: Fan Running Full Speed Most Of Time
Mar 19, 2014my x230's fan is most of the time running full speed, and returns to regular (almost no noise level) for only a few minutes.I just got this x230 for less than a month and i notice this since most of my colleagues' laptops are all the time quiet compared to mine, which is a lot newer than theirs.Later on I will try the Full HW scan & see how it goes.

Mar 17, 2009Since I recently upgraded to BIOS A12, my XPS 1530 fan goes at full speed when gaming, even if the temps don't go too high...
If I pause the game and go do something else for 1-2 hours, the fan will be at full speed those 1-2 hours... it is better to quit the game instead of just pausing in those cases?
Dell :: Not Getting Full Internet Speed Over Wireless- 3945ABG
Mar 20, 2008I have an XPS M1710 and it has the 3945ABG wireless card. Just today I upgraded my internet speed to 15Mb down. When I go to www.speedtest.net I get a result of 5Mb down.
I have tried the same test on one other laptop (not a Dell) and another desktop. None of the components involved are capable of 802.11N so I know its not that. The wireless router being used it Linksys WRT54G.
One more note, when I connect the router, or modem up directly to my NIC I will get the fill 15Mb.

Feb 14, 2013My problem is first i had clean my laptop yesterday with a cleaner for laptops l disable my laptop battery and clean it and put it with towel cover for two hours and i turned it on then the laptop work fine but the keyboard has a problem it type different thing than i typed then i disable it and put the keyboard under the sun for about 3 hours and the problem still founded then i open my laptop and extract the motherboard and i just clean it with caution with cotton and then put the motherboard in the laptop and connect all the wire with it thn i close the cover of laptop and turned th laptop on and just the fan run at full speed and the light works also the cd room but the motherboard not working my qustion is what the problem behind the full speed fan and blank screen is it a disabled hardware like cpu or gpu or ram...

May 15, 2012I have a ProBook 4720s laptop, Windows 7 64-bit
The problem is that the fan on my computer always stays at minimum speed and as the computer heats up, the fan will not speed up to its full speed. The computer gets really hot ~70°C. The problem occurred when I upgraded bios to its latest version F.20. I believe that there is a bug with this bios- that the bios will not control the fan properly. This type of notebook has a history of bios bugs: its original bios made the fan run all the time at full speed which was fixed with a bios upgrade.
This bios came with a note that I cannot downgrade to a previous version that worked well. So my question is, can I expect a bios upgrade for this computer that would fix the error.
HP ProBook 4320S :: CPU Frequency Never Get To Full Speed
Sep 20, 2014The last bios update for the Notebook probook 4320s did something odd to my notebook, the cpu frequency never get to full speed as i found out after so many tries its a BIOS bug
If i boot with battery fully charged and power ac on the cpu gets to 933 mhz
if i remove the power cord cpu gets to 1200mhz
i have to reboot with only the battery for the CPU to get to 2200mhz as its the I3 speed
There is no way to disable speed step or to disable bios control power .....
Dell Latitude D610 :: CPU Running At Half Speed
Feb 3, 2013was running xp pro. I have wiped the hard drive and will be installing win xp pro on it.I only know noticed, in bios, that it says the cpu is running at 800 mhz and not at its proper speed of 1.73 ghz. In the bios i set it to default settings and saved it but no luck there. The bios is A06 from 2005 but i have a friend who has the very same laptop and his is running at the correct speed of 1.73 and he has the same bios so i dont thing that is the issue.

Dell Inspiron 7010 :: Running Diagnostics Says Read Test Is Not Running
Feb 2, 2013I have an Inspiron 7010 which is 2 years old. In control panel devices it tells me to troubleshoot the laptop and cannot rectify problem with Broadcom virtual wireless adaptor. Secondly running the diagnostics say the Read test is not running. These are the only problems but are not affecting the efficiency of the PC. Should I ignore it?

Jul 12, 2009I bought the studio 15 with full HD screen and blu-ray, I have read about some people saying at full 1080 resolution, the writing is wayyyyy too small.
Is this true, and is there no way to decrease the resolution.
I thought if I am getting blu-ray I might as well get full HD screen but I don't want to get my laptop and find that the writing is tiny, and I have to use a magnifying glass to do anything.

Feb 6, 2010i have a inspiron e1705. i dont not have many big programs. some of them include Age of Empires III and an expansion pack, itunes, garmin software for my gps, java, office (excel, powerpoint and word), firefox and ie,
wd anywhere backup, avast! anti-virus, mp3 rocket, apple qucktime, spy-bot, etc.. i am pretty sure that these are all up-to-date. i have sp 2 installed... (is there a third one?).
i also have many pictures and videos (17.3 gb for pictures, 47.4 gb for music, and 8.6gb for videos). i do not have too many documents.
i have also just recently formatted my computer. any ideas as to why it is so full, and how i can create more room? do i just have to delete some things?

Apr 29, 2009This is my first post here and am new to this site.
Yesterday my XPS 1330 arrived with a 128 GB SSD. I was very impressed with startup, quietness, etc. I moved files from an external harddrive with pics and audio (totaled to 40 GB).
I then went to view the drive and saw that I had 12GB left...not even a day that I own a new laptop and my machine is nearly full. My old HP laptop still has 50GB left.
I removed the pics and that gave me 40GB left.
18.5GB is dedicated to "Dell DataSafe Local Backup..." I have no idea why this is so huge
Dell :: Connecting M1530 To Full Hd Tv
Jan 3, 2010i have recently purchased an lg 42 inch lh3000 full hd 1080p tv to connect to my xps m1530.
i have also just downloaded the newest driver for my 8600gt.
i have linked the two with a vga cable and my problem is that i cant get it to output 1920x1080 resolution even though other people seem to be saying it is possible.
in the nvidia control panel the highest resolution i can get the laptop screen to show is 1440x900 (the native screen resolution) and with the tv plugged in the highest it will take is this same resolution.

Feb 20, 2009I have a studio xps 16 and whenever I plug it via HDMI to my tv (which has a 1080p resolution) there are black bars all around the image, meaning the image is smaller than the tv. I've set the resolution of the tv (from Catalyst Control Center) to 1920x1080 and it still won't do full screen...

Jan 21, 2010Originally they called yesterday and offered me a replacement for an M17X but they would only give me 85% of the original ourchase price of the XPS.
I configured the M17X on the DELL website and also called the Sales department to clarify I could have Bu Ray reader and Dual ATI's added because these options are not on the web configurator. I was told I could add these options.
This morning a tech support representative called and we went through the configuration. He could not get the price to match what I had been quoted from the Sales department.

Apr 6, 2009I have troubles with svchost eating 50% (or a full core) of CPU. I can see that two services depending on this svchost instances are plugandplay and DCOM. With another tool (Process explorer) I could find that back thoses services were sometimes bluetoothstack, windows synchro, or just nothing.
Troubles happened after I upgraded two drivers from Dell website: Webcam and GeForce. I have now the latest instances from Dell.
Grafic driver seems quite old to me (11/2008). Any advice against using the nVidia driver (from nvidia website)?
Dell :: BIG M4400: Full System Lockup
Oct 20, 2008I know a few people are experiencing this, not sure if it's the same with the E series, but the entire M4400 will fully lock up and die, requiring a hardboot. As in, a super-freeze: lights, keyboard, mouse, applications, display, everything. No chance to remove the freeze besides doing a hardboot. I've left it on for hours after the freeze, and still no luck.
This is a ridiculous problem. Imagine typing pages of documents, presentations, creating image files, working on CAD files and then it freezes completely. No ctrl+alt+del to save you here, no "quick-save".
Why is this happening? I've had 3-4 lockups every 10 minutes at a time. Using Dell memory, and default Dell hardware.
Weird situation: It has -never- locked up while watching episodes of fresh prince of bel-air on freshprincetv.com, and has -never- locked up while playing half-life 2 for four hours straight...this is worse than a defective GPU. More like a defective motherboard here...

Dec 21, 2004I've noticed that after I bring my 5160 back on after putting it in standby, the fan kicks on at high speed and stays on until I power down and restart. Is that a BIOS problem or hardware and what can I do about it?
