View 10 RepliesI've found a good deal on a Studio 1737 but the only downside is the 1440x900 screen. If anyone can point to where you can buy the 1920x1200 RGB LED screen it would be much appreciated.
View 10 Replies View RelatedLooks like Dell is going to finally let me return my faulty unit and rebuild another from scratch.
Was wondering how people felt about the 1440 display vs. the 1280.
looking for:
1920x1200 only
hdmi preferable (for xbox 360 elite)
VGA would be hooked up to my XPS Gen2's 7800 GTX
picture-in-picture would be nice..
portrait (vertical) mode not important
fantastic color & clarity only (no jaggy edges)
will spend anywhere up to $1,000 (and maybe slightly above for a quality monitor)
I am selling my 7800gtx that i have in the 9300 now and putting the ATI x300 back in. Well when i did the screen has a max resolution of 1280x800. I tried deleting the lcd and x300 then re installing both but its the same. I reformated the laptop and loaded the Dell x300 driver and still 1280x800 resolution.

Does anyone have the 1920x1200 display that can give an opinion on it, cause I would love to have a 1080p capable laptop, but im a bit hesitant .....

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm considering buying a Dell e6400 or Dell e6500. I'd prefer the I'd prefer a 15.4' screen. However, if I get that I feel like I probably should get a higher res than the basic 1280 x 800. Ideally I want 1440 x 900.
The problem is Dell only seems to offer the higher resolution in a glossy screen on either model (at least in Canada) - "UltraSharp™ Wide WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Display-Brushed Metal Black". I spoke to Dell and they said it's something in b/w an anti-glare screen and a consumer glossy screen, but I'm not sure what to make of that.
I'm wondering if anyone has this type of screen and can tell me what their experience has been? How glossy is it?
I mainly will use my laptop for writing and office work - in coffee shops, offices or the library - so I don't like have a screen that is reflective. I much prefer an anti-glare screen. I've thought about just buying the e6400 with the anti-glare 1280x800 LED screen, but like I say, would prefer to get a bigger screen if possible, so wanted to see how glossy these screens really are.
I was looking though HP laptops and I need to know the difference between 1366x768 and 1440x900.Which is better and looks good
View 8 Replies View RelatedIm looking into a laptop I should choose.Which resolution is better 1440x900 or 1600x900 and what is a good size screen?
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhether the optional WUXGA (1920x1200) display is an LCD or LED? I know the base/standard WXGA (1280x800) is an LCD and the WXGA+ (1440x900) is an LED, which explains why it's a $125 upgrade.
View 10 Replies View RelatedRecently my Inspiron 9300 laptop was stolen and my insurance company accepted my claim but is only offering 1/4 of the price I paid for the laptop in 2006 saying now the market value is 1/4. My laptop was a 17" one with 1920x1200 screen. With that offer I wont be able to buy a 1920x1200 screened laptop I was wondering if this is correct and that the market value could have dropped 1/4 or are 1920x1200 screened laptops still expensive??
Also what would have happend if I had theft cover? Would Dell have replaced the Laptop and if so would they have given me a newer one from the existing Dell range?
According to specifications from Dell's web site 1280x800 display has considerably smaller viewing angle than display with 1440x900 resolution,
particularly for vertical angles, which are +15°/–30° for the former and ±45° for the latter model.
Can anyone confirm that difference is this significant in practice as well?
And how do they compare in color and overall image quality, as 1280x800 is LED as well on 1537 according to specifications.
I use a Benq 1920x1200 at work and one at home via HDMI-DVI cable. It worked well until the Benq at home died. I got money back from Benq and bought a Dell U2711 and thought that I could get 2560x1440 resolution on my Sony.
I use Win7. But what really makes me is that the highest resulution on the Dell U2711 I can get is 1600x1200!
I can't choose 1920x1200 from the Screen resolution chooser in Win 7.
I can set 1920x1080 in the the Screen resolution chooser in Win 7, but then I get a dark screen on Dell showing text "unsupported resolution".
Powerstrip monitor info says that 1920x1200x60Hz is supported, but not 1920x1080, so the "unsupported resolution" on Dell monitor is correct.
But how do I make is possible to choose 1920x1200 from Win7?
When I try to use Powerstrip to make resolution 1920x1200 I get the error message: "This parameters you have specified may be beyond the capabilities of your monitor or graphics card. Please recheck the resolution, horizontal and vertical refresh rates, and the pixel clock to ensure they are within spec.". But I can't do anything more...
So how do I at least make it possible to use 1920x1200 on the big 2560x1440 screen?
HDX16t and I'm having issues deciding between different models.
The difference in the screen resolution would cost me around $100. I would never really use the 1920x1200 for gaming, but it would come in handy while doing homework with multiple windows.
I currently have a DV9500 and a DV5. The DV9500's 1440x900 is excellent for me and I would see no reason to go above that resolution. However, the DV5's 1280x800 is just too small for me (almost even for internet browsing). It just doesn't seem like the 1366x768 would be much different. So for those who have the lower res HDX16t model, would you upgrade to the larger resolution if you had the chance or are you happy with your current setup?
Anyone with this WUXGA (1920x1200) LCD, do you notice darker spots on the bottom left and right corners of the screen? Specifically over the Start button and the clock. Make sure there is a lighter screen in the background to notice it more distinctly. This is my second Samsung screen with this issue. Does LG make a WUXGA LCD?
Also, have any of you had the rubber bumpers for the LCD on the palm rest come off. My left one came off and will not stay on. What happens is you tend to run your hand over it while typing, causing it to snap off. In order to get a new rubber piece, DELL needed to send me a whole new palm rest with speakers and fingerprint reader included to install.
So far I like this Notebook, however it should have went through more tests (drivers especially) before releasing it to the public.
I've been looking at basicly two models, both got almost the exact same price tag here in Norway, so I'm not sure which one to go for.
The first ones is a MacBook Pro 15" with High-resolution 1650x1080 glossy screen, featuring the top of the line Intel Core i7-620M CPU the other is a MacBook Pro 17" with even higher resolution (1920x1200) glossy screen, featuring the slightly slower Intel Core i5-540M.
I don't list the other specifications as I don't really care about them, I already got a pair of 4GB 1600MHz CL7 (2x2GB) DIM's and a Intel X25-M 80GB SSD that I'll be using anyway.
There will be lots of movies and series played on my MacBook Pro, that's why I don't really considering paying a premium for the anti-glare screen, even though I love anti-glare and tend to struggle with glossy screens I don't see the point in actually paying more for it. And when watching movies and series, in often very dark rooms the glossy screen actually have some advantages.
The hard thing to decide here is slicker and lighter, with smaller screen and lower resolution, but better CPU versus the bigger, more heavy but featuring bigger screen and Full-HD+ resolution but slower CPU.....................
how much difference between LED 1440 x 900 and Full Hi Def LCD 1920 x 1200 in terms of
a) weight
b) battery life
c)quality
Can't decide between the 2. Planning on watching bluray and programming (lots of time in front of screen), no gamming.
I bought the studio 15 with full HD screen and blu-ray, I have read about some people saying at full 1080 resolution, the writing is wayyyyy too small.
Is this true, and is there no way to decrease the resolution.
I thought if I am getting blu-ray I might as well get full HD screen but I don't want to get my laptop and find that the writing is tiny, and I have to use a magnifying glass to do anything.
dell comes with alot of crapware? And that they ussualy always do this when they get their machines, should I do it? How much of a difference does it make?
If so anyone kind enough to do a step-by-step guide how to for dumbies like myself?
i have a inspiron e1705. i dont not have many big programs. some of them include Age of Empires III and an expansion pack, itunes, garmin software for my gps, java, office (excel, powerpoint and word), firefox and ie,
wd anywhere backup, avast! anti-virus, mp3 rocket, apple qucktime, spy-bot, etc.. i am pretty sure that these are all up-to-date. i have sp 2 installed... (is there a third one?).
i also have many pictures and videos (17.3 gb for pictures, 47.4 gb for music, and 8.6gb for videos). i do not have too many documents.
i have also just recently formatted my computer. any ideas as to why it is so full, and how i can create more room? do i just have to delete some things?
Since I recently upgraded to BIOS A12, my XPS 1530 fan goes at full speed when gaming, even if the temps don't go too high...
If I pause the game and go do something else for 1-2 hours, the fan will be at full speed those 1-2 hours... it is better to quit the game instead of just pausing in those cases?
All right, what doesn't look right here?

Has anyone got Full HD on the studio 15, and when you put it to full HD, how does everything look?
Does it look too small?
My laptop is scheduled for tomorrow AM delivery
This is my first post here and am new to this site.
Yesterday my XPS 1330 arrived with a 128 GB SSD. I was very impressed with startup, quietness, etc. I moved files from an external harddrive with pics and audio (totaled to 40 GB).
I then went to view the drive and saw that I had 12GB left...not even a day that I own a new laptop and my machine is nearly full. My old HP laptop still has 50GB left.
I removed the pics and that gave me 40GB left.
18.5GB is dedicated to "Dell DataSafe Local Backup..." I have no idea why this is so huge
i have recently purchased an lg 42 inch lh3000 full hd 1080p tv to connect to my xps m1530.
i have also just downloaded the newest driver for my 8600gt.
i have linked the two with a vga cable and my problem is that i cant get it to output 1920x1080 resolution even though other people seem to be saying it is possible.
in the nvidia control panel the highest resolution i can get the laptop screen to show is 1440x900 (the native screen resolution) and with the tv plugged in the highest it will take is this same resolution.
Just installed Vista Ultimate today. But I found that this dell machine cannot have the 3D aeroglass.
So when I click "Switch between Windows" in the taskbar, it won't show the 3D layer things.
My Dell E6400:
CPU = Intel P8400
Memory = 2GB DDR2
HDD = 320GB 7200RPM
Whenever I try playing a Movie on my Studio's Blu-Ray drive & output it to my 26" LCD TV thru the HDMI, the picture on the screen is letterboxed on all 4 sides. It shows up as not much bigger than my laptop screen in size.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried a 720p video and it worked perfect as I expected but when I downloaded a Full HD 1080p video, playing using VLC It lags so bad, I can barely keep up and watch it properly.
My system is:
P8600 2400 MHz, RGBLED 1080.
4GB DDR3, ATi HD 3670.
If any more info needed please say.
Could someone try this file (Messi goal in UCL Final ) and see if it lags as well.
also tell me what your specs are.
maybe Im expecting too much from this SXPS 1640?
But I hoped it can playback a full HD video fine.
I have a studio xps 16 and whenever I plug it via HDMI to my tv (which has a 1080p resolution) there are black bars all around the image, meaning the image is smaller than the tv. I've set the resolution of the tv (from Catalyst Control Center) to 1920x1080 and it still won't do full screen...
