View 8 RepliesJust logged on to dell's driver site. WOW, new drivers dated yesterday for fingerprint. Finally i'm getting native windows 7 bio support for my M4400. Downloaded and installed.
No, nothing, nada, shaite. Still no support. This is ugly. Just read online that Dell listens and now you can get Inspiron 10 with Moblin. What about business users that scream for native bio support for latitude and precisions. Dell needs to shape up on this point.
So I just had Windows 7 reinstalled as my harddrive died. But after the reinstall, Windows 7 only detects my laptops native resolution (recommended resolution) as 1280x800.
I know this laptop has the 1440x900 display, I have coworkers with the same laptop and their display shows the "recommended" is 1440x900, and I know that was the case before I lost my drive and got a new one with a reinstall.
This laptop has the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M adapter, and I have the latest driver for this from NVIDIA.
Why does windows think my native resolution is 1280x800. I can use the NVIDIA driver to force it to go to 1440x900, which works. I was just wondering why it is doing this. Is there some inf package that I need from Dell?
I heard that the dell has the nvidia 8600 getting the HiDef Option is going to slow down in full screen gaming is that true becuase I was hoping to get HiDef

Was wondering how people felt about the 1440 display vs. the 1280.
I am selling my 7800gtx that i have in the 9300 now and putting the ATI x300 back in. Well when i did the screen has a max resolution of 1280x800. I tried deleting the lcd and x300 then re installing both but its the same. I reformated the laptop and loaded the Dell x300 driver and still 1280x800 resolution.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm considering buying a Dell e6400 or Dell e6500. I'd prefer the I'd prefer a 15.4' screen. However, if I get that I feel like I probably should get a higher res than the basic 1280 x 800. Ideally I want 1440 x 900.
The problem is Dell only seems to offer the higher resolution in a glossy screen on either model (at least in Canada) - "UltraSharp™ Wide WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Display-Brushed Metal Black". I spoke to Dell and they said it's something in b/w an anti-glare screen and a consumer glossy screen, but I'm not sure what to make of that.
I'm wondering if anyone has this type of screen and can tell me what their experience has been? How glossy is it?
I mainly will use my laptop for writing and office work - in coffee shops, offices or the library - so I don't like have a screen that is reflective. I much prefer an anti-glare screen. I've thought about just buying the e6400 with the anti-glare 1280x800 LED screen, but like I say, would prefer to get a bigger screen if possible, so wanted to see how glossy these screens really are.
I was looking though HP laptops and I need to know the difference between 1366x768 and 1440x900.Which is better and looks good
View 8 Replies View RelatedIm looking into a laptop I should choose.Which resolution is better 1440x900 or 1600x900 and what is a good size screen?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAccording to specifications from Dell's web site 1280x800 display has considerably smaller viewing angle than display with 1440x900 resolution,
particularly for vertical angles, which are +15°/–30° for the former and ±45° for the latter model.
Can anyone confirm that difference is this significant in practice as well?
And how do they compare in color and overall image quality, as 1280x800 is LED as well on 1537 according to specifications.
I have an HP dv9000 laptop.
It came with Windows Vista, at one point I was dual-booting Vista/XP, and I am currently using Windows 7beta.
I recently went in my bios settings and tried to enable native sata support, and after that, my computer wouldn't go into Win7, until i disabled it again.
It was enabled when i first got my computer, and i had to disable it for XP compatibility. I figure, if it works with Vista, there's no reason it wouldnt work with Win7. Perhaps it's configured to run without the setting, so enabling it effs it up and confuses it. is there any way i can enable it again, preferably without having to do a full OS install?
i cant make the monitor to work in his native resolution 2560x1600.The best i can get is 1920x1200 with hdmi cable.i have try with hdmi to dvi cable and it give me 1920x1080
- Â hdmi to hdmi cable 1920x1200
- hdmi to displayport cable - no image at all
I just got my new Acer Aspire V14 touch (Windows 8.1) and want to connect it to my Sharp Aquos LC-32DA5U TV via HDMI. I can see the picture but cannot adjust the screen resolution to the native resolution recommended for this TV (1366x768). Funny enough this is exactly the resolution my laptop is using.
Â
When I force use of this resolution via show all in the display properties, then I don't get a picture but just a black screen on my TV.
Â
Is there any other driver etc that I need to install to make this work? It worked perfectly fine as PnP with my old Lenovo computer under Windows 7.
installing Windows XP on my HP Pavillion Dv2100. Windows could load with Native Sata disabled but when I try to enable it, it gives me a BSOD during the Windows loading screen. I tried doing the steps on [url] and it still doesnt work.
I also tried reinstalling Windows with Native Sata enabled but it says Windows cannot detect a hard disk. Tried reinstalling using a Flash Drive with Windows installed using WinToFlash and it said "Ntldr is missing".
this is how you get native support for Read/write for snow leopard running 64-bit kernal.
After a ton of frustration and jumping through hoops, I thought I'd save a few people out there some headaches.
NTFS-3G + Macfuse does not work in snow leopard 64-bit kernal If anyone got it to work I'd like to know how as I have tried everything an it doesn't work.
So here is an even better alternative.
Remember when Snow leopard was supposed to support NTFS natively out of the box? Well it does...kind of. I'm not sure what happened but Apple was working on it, but in the end decided not to activate it. Kinda almost like the ipod touch with the camera.
Before you can do anything, you must completely uninstall NTFS-3G and Macfuse. Heres on how to uninstall.
Q 2.3. How can I uninstall MacFUSE?
A: Launch the Mac OS X System Preferences application and go to the MacFUSE preference pane. Click on the "Remove MacFUSE" button. This will uninstall all MacFUSE components except the preference pane itself.
You can keep the MacFUSE preference pane around should you decide to install MacFUSE again in the future. If you do wish to remove it, you do it just like how you would remove any other non-Apple preference pane: In System Preferences, control-click (right-click) on the MacFUSE icon and you will see "Remove ..." as an action............
Has anyone successfully calibrated the RGB LED screen on the M6400 Covet using a colorimeter?
I have a Pantone Huey Pro and I'm getting really bad results after calibration (washed out colors, greenish cast). After about 2 months of back and forth with Pantone they have told me that "maybe" my colorimeter doesn't have enough range for a screen with such a wide gamut.
The "maybe" part, which suggests they don't even know their own product, is what I find unbelievable
I am still not able to use my laptop as the thing won't or can't load user profile, all I get is the message user profile service failed the logon. I ran the F12 at start up and performed the extended diagnostic test which tells me everything is just peachy.
