It looks like lightroom and premier has closed the gap in the windows land compared to Aperture and Final Cut. And with OpenCL's focus on using the GPU to boost performance and Apple doing it's very best to off Adobe.... is there any real advantage in software in OSX anymore? Or is it all about familiarity and preference?
I was kind of considering the i5 MBP since I'm more into editing than gaming but honestly, if I can just get a beefy Win7 laptop and run software with the same features that are just as reliable I don't really see the point in spending less for more.
I heard that the dell has the nvidia 8600 getting the HiDef Option is going to slow down in full screen gaming is that true becuase I was hoping to get HiDef
I am selling my 7800gtx that i have in the 9300 now and putting the ATI x300 back in. Well when i did the screen has a max resolution of 1280x800. I tried deleting the lcd and x300 then re installing both but its the same. I reformated the laptop and loaded the Dell x300 driver and still 1280x800 resolution.
I'm considering buying a Dell e6400 or Dell e6500. I'd prefer the I'd prefer a 15.4' screen. However, if I get that I feel like I probably should get a higher res than the basic 1280 x 800. Ideally I want 1440 x 900.
The problem is Dell only seems to offer the higher resolution in a glossy screen on either model (at least in Canada) - "UltraSharp™ Wide WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Display-Brushed Metal Black". I spoke to Dell and they said it's something in b/w an anti-glare screen and a consumer glossy screen, but I'm not sure what to make of that.
I'm wondering if anyone has this type of screen and can tell me what their experience has been? How glossy is it?
I mainly will use my laptop for writing and office work - in coffee shops, offices or the library - so I don't like have a screen that is reflective. I much prefer an anti-glare screen. I've thought about just buying the e6400 with the anti-glare 1280x800 LED screen, but like I say, would prefer to get a bigger screen if possible, so wanted to see how glossy these screens really are.
I've dell Inspiron N5110 and I'm using it since past 3 and half years. In 2013, base of the laptop was broken and I had to replace it with a new one though there was no problem in hardware at all. Soon after the dell representative installed the new base and left my house I was facing a weird problem. When I power on the laptop, my screen gives a mild flash but does not start (6 out of 10 times, not always), but I can hear windows start up sound in the back ground. I use to press power button again to lock or stand by the laptop and then move my mouse. After performing this I can see the screen glows and log on screen shows up.
I was using my laptop like this for past 1.5 years as pressing a power button was no big deal. Today on the eve of new year, I saw my trick does not work any more. I was not able to start my screen even after repetitive attempts. But I remember I used it last night, display was really fine.Â
I should like to connect my old hp2710p to TV via HDMI. So I connect the displayport of the docking with an hdmi adpater but it doesn't work. Â If I connect my hp2760p, everything goes. Â The 2710p has w7 32bit, last version o BIOS and drivers.
I've purchased a HP Pavilion 15-n011tu Notebook. I'm unable to install display driver for WIndows 8 (64bit). I've tried all 3 drivers given on HP site.
I am having problems connecting an external monitor, Dell 2709W, to my Elitebook 820 G1.  I have an Intel HD 4400 graphics solution. The monitor says:  Out of range signal Cannot display this video mode change computer display input to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz.  I use a Display Port cable for the connection.  My OS is Win 8.1 64bit  I have used the HP support assistant to update all hardware drivers...
After running my B570 (1068) with an extended display, the unit went into hibernation. On wake-up the laptop screen is indecipherable garbage. The second display will run to show BIOS startup but then reverts to the built-in screen - which is illegible. Toggling the F3 key does not get a good screen. Â I read another post suggesting this is a hardware failure. What parts have failed?
I have Thinkpad Edge E330 bought this July, with win8 downgraded to win7. It recently started a problem where the laptop's own display doesn't display anything (just blank) if I don't have external display connected. The external display doesn't have be in use, just connected, and E330's own display works fine. If I disconnect the external display, the E330's own display goes blank also. It doesn't matter what display setting I have.Currently I'm not able to use my E330 as a laptop at all.
I cannot adjust the brightness of my display using the Fn keys or the Control Panel... I have already had to replace my battery once... Â I need to be able to adjust the brightness in order save my battery life!
A few weeks ago I cracked my glossy 1366x768 display on my Envy DV6 7227SA (product number C4V06EA#ABU). I have found a replacement online (part number 682089-001) but I was wondering if I could replace it with a matte 1920x1080 display (Part number 682090-001). I'm running Windows 8 64 bit  EDIT: This is the part I currently have in my notebook (broken) - [URL] ....  And this is what I'm wanting to replace it with - [URL] .....
I am running Win 8.1 x64 (up-to-date) on HP Pavilion 1322TX laptop. There are  Intel HD Graphics 3000 and ATM Radeon HD 7450M two graphic cards as the device manager window. Recently I am getting blue screens and later message appear saying the ATM driver stopped working. I found many problems with this driver in the past as well. When I check the relevent page for my laptop model, there is no update since 2012..
Can I update these two drivers seperately by getting updates from Intel and AMD sites?Â
Is there any update for catalyst control system (CCC) ?Â
When I try to update through the CCC or HP Support Assist, it is always no updates..
I changed my operating system from WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 32 BIT TOÂ WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 64 BIT,and the problem is after changing OS my laptop is not displaying Brightness bar. Today, I tried connecting an external display to my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 laptop, via a USB hub, only to discover that using the touch screen points at the corresponding part of the external display rather than the inbuilt one (the displays are being extended). Can this be changed?  I'm using the same 64-bit Windows 8 installation and drivers that the computer came with.
for some reason the on screen display meter for my volume when pressing on the keyboard suddenly disappeared, I would like to get this back. I found this thread in the forum URL.... which another was having the same problem I'm having. The only difference is that I'm using HP Pavilion G7 with Windows 7.
The monitor on my HP Pavilion dv9830us laptop has not been working for some time and I have had to use an external CRT monitor for my display. A couple nights ago, my operating system (Ubuntu Linux 10.04) failed to load and because I can't get video feed to my external monitor until the video drivers on Ubuntu loads, I am unable to run Ubuntu's repair feature and the beginning of boot. Â Is there a way I can get my laptop to use my external monitor at all times, even at the BIOS screen? Is there a setting in BIOS for this?
Currently whenever I startup my laptop the display flickers. If windows fully boots or I try to enter one of the startup menus the will flash briefly on the screen and then the display will return to and remain black.  I am able to run an HDMI cable to my TV and it seems to be running fine other than going black with the occasional distorted picture of windows booting.
I noticed the display automatically adjust its brightness when I open different webpages with different color background, which I'd rather it not do. How to disable this dynamic adjustment? Â Product Name: HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC Â Product Number: A5F92AV Â OS: Windows 7 home premium 64 bit

One of our employees has an HP Pavilion G6 laptop. He uses an external display at work but has to keep the screen of the laptop open. If he closes the screen, then the video to the external display is power off. Â What are the settings to allow the laptop screen to be closed and still be able to get video to an external display.
