View 7 Repliespurchase a HP DV7T labtop but i went to a bestbuy location around the house and was only able to view the brightview screen. My opinion on it was it looked nice but i was left wondering about the infinity upgrade.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe extreme glare of HP's Infinity displays and lesser glare of glossy screens in general has a cure: antiglare films, which also provide scratch protection. I found a very comprehensive review of the options here:
Screen Protector Shootout Results
Photodon LCD protector sheets were highly rated, and since Photodon is in my home state of Michigan I ordered from them. I went with a larger than normal custom cut for my HP dv4z's Infinity display, figuring (correctly) that I'd want the film to be a little larger than the LCD panel since there's no bezel. I got the width right, 310mm, but I guessed low on the height. 194mm should be about right. Being mechanically disinclined I did a poor job applying the film but it still looks good. Some pics:

I have had my dv7 with infinity display for about 5 weeks. Purchased new.
It has dust behind the screen HP said it is not a warranty issue. I will not be taking no for an answer.
The laptop is new and in an environment that has little dust. If dust can get in it is a design fault, or a build quality issue.
I am very dissapointed at this point with HP service.
As well at the bottom left and right of the screen you can see scratch marks caused by the screen coming into contact with the speker grill on the keyboard pannel.
HP have said that they will warrant this, if the laptop has not been dropped.
It seems that the helpdesk people follow what are known as "advisaries" with regard to warranty isues. As they dont have one for the dust behind the Infinty screen they dont warrant it, or so they say.
If you have a dust issue you need to log a fault because it seems that warranty response depends on fault volume.
So if you have dust behind the screen log a fault and ask this issue to escalated.
I will be writing to HP and making as much noise as I can. If i knew that HP didnt care about dust getting behind the screen

Desktop does not show just get a greyish blue screen. What might be wrong?
View 1 Replies View RelatedModel: HP15-N096EA ... When the laptop is turned on the screen colurs are inverted i.e. blue becomes orange, white becomes black etc. at times it flickers back to normal colours i.e blue shows as blue etc.
I have checked magnifers invert colours isn't turned on but when I do turn it on the inverted colours switch to normal colours obviously. There is also a vertical shimmer like every other vertical line is missing or phases in and out.
I have booted into safe mode to see if its a driver issue but the colours are still inverted, I've booted into the BIOS and again the colours are inverted and just to cover all bases I booted a live DVD of Mint Linux 17.1 and the legendary green of the mint distro was a lovely lilac. I've also tried high contrast i.e. Left ALt + left Shift + Print Screen.
My feeling is its the graphic chip or the monitor and I'm hedging more towards the monitor. Tomorrow I'll do a screengrab to see how that comes out and will also connect to an external monitor to see if the flicker and shimmer is still present.
Considering this is literally a month and 6 days out of guarantee it pretty bad, I would have expected a bit longer from a laptop before it started failing.
Update from Yesterday: I did a screengrab from the HP using the snipping tool in windows 7, this showed the colours inverted i.e. negative, I saved that screengrab to a USB stick and opened it up on my Mac, the image showed correctly i.e. not as a negative.
This is the image that is displayed on the laptop, there is no colour inversion, none of the graphics settings appear incorrectly set, I did actually set all settings back to defaults.
This is the screengrab from the laptop as it displays from another computer, which, in my case was my Mac. The screen appears to be displaying correctly, hence the screengrab image below but for some reason it is displaying an inverted image - Its like there is an overlay on the screen.
Could the inverter be faulty?
I've adjusted the custom on zoom to 100; I can get back to 199 by ctrl0; but some thing is interfering with the size of my script and even on email; it also enlarges photos on websites &email. I'm fed up with this whole notebook, windows 8 stuff. It even changes custom when it enlarges.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having some flickering, and glitches in the display, and it seems, that it depends on the lcd position. It starts after I open the display, or sometimes after the laptop has been in use for a long time. It happened before, and the hp service replaced the lcd, saying that was a faulty one, but now, with the new one, is starting again. Is a bad replacement? I have to worry for the videocard? or motherboard? I spent 350uss on the new lcd, and I really hope is the replacement.

I am having problems connecting an external monitor, Dell 2709W, to my Elitebook 820 G1.
I have an Intel HD 4400 graphics solution. The monitor says:
Out of range signal
Cannot display this video mode
change computer display input to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz.
I use a Display Port cable for the connection.
My OS is Win 8.1 64bit
I have used the HP support assistant to update all hardware drivers...
After running my B570 (1068) with an extended display, the unit went into hibernation. On wake-up the laptop screen is indecipherable garbage. The second display will run to show BIOS startup but then reverts to the built-in screen - which is illegible. Toggling the F3 key does not get a good screen.
I read another post suggesting this is a hardware failure. What parts have failed?
I have Thinkpad Edge E330 bought this July, with win8 downgraded to win7. It recently started a problem where the laptop's own display doesn't display anything (just blank) if I don't have external display connected. The external display doesn't have be in use, just connected, and E330's own display works fine. If I disconnect the external display, the E330's own display goes blank also. It doesn't matter what display setting I have.Currently I'm not able to use my E330 as a laptop at all.

I am running Win 8.1 x64 (up-to-date) on HP Pavilion 1322TX laptop. There are Intel HD Graphics 3000 and ATM Radeon HD 7450M two graphic cards as the device manager window. Recently I am getting blue screens and later message appear saying the ATM driver stopped working. I found many problems with this driver in the past as well. When I check the relevent page for my laptop model, there is no update since 2012..
Can I update these two drivers seperately by getting updates from Intel and AMD sites?
Is there any update for catalyst control system (CCC) ?
When I try to update through the CCC or HP Support Assist, it is always no updates..
I changed my operating system from WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 32 BIT TO WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 64 BIT,and the problem is after changing OS my laptop is not displaying Brightness bar. Brightness is increasing and decreasing but it is not showing bright bar.
Any driver i have to install ? if required then driver download link.
I've dell Inspiron N5110 and I'm using it since past 3 and half years. In 2013, base of the laptop was broken and I had to replace it with a new one though there was no problem in hardware at all. Soon after the dell representative installed the new base and left my house I was facing a weird problem. When I power on the laptop, my screen gives a mild flash but does not start (6 out of 10 times, not always), but I can hear windows start up sound in the back ground. I use to press power button again to lock or stand by the laptop and then move my mouse. After performing this I can see the screen glows and log on screen shows up.
I was using my laptop like this for past 1.5 years as pressing a power button was no big deal. Today on the eve of new year, I saw my trick does not work any more. I was not able to start my screen even after repetitive attempts. But I remember I used it last night, display was really fine.
Today, I tried connecting an external display to my HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 laptop, via a USB hub, only to discover that using the touch screen points at the corresponding part of the external display rather than the inbuilt one (the displays are being extended). Can this be changed?
I'm using the same 64-bit Windows 8 installation and drivers that the computer came with.
for some reason the on screen display meter for my volume when pressing on the keyboard suddenly disappeared, I would like to get this back. I found this thread in the forum URL.... which another was having the same problem I'm having. The only difference is that I'm using HP Pavilion G7 with Windows 7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe monitor on my HP Pavilion dv9830us laptop has not been working for some time and I have had to use an external CRT monitor for my display. A couple nights ago, my operating system (Ubuntu Linux 10.04) failed to load and because I can't get video feed to my external monitor until the video drivers on Ubuntu loads, I am unable to run Ubuntu's repair feature and the beginning of boot.
Is there a way I can get my laptop to use my external monitor at all times, even at the BIOS screen? Is there a setting in BIOS for this?
Currently whenever I startup my laptop the display flickers. If windows fully boots or I try to enter one of the startup menus the will flash briefly on the screen and then the display will return to and remain black.
I am able to run an HDMI cable to my TV and it seems to be running fine other than going black with the occasional distorted picture of windows booting.
I noticed the display automatically adjust its brightness when I open different webpages with different color background, which I'd rather it not do. How to disable this dynamic adjustment?

If you buy a notebook from HP with this screen option, can one be assured that the physical LED panel is free of fingerprints, dust, lint etc before it was closed off with the "infinity" cover?
I've read some bad reviews about this design and a lot of people are complaining about dust, lint, etc somehow getting inside between the LED panel and the "infinity" panel. Also I've heard complaints about the keyboard scratching the "infinity" panel when the lid is closed (there is no space between the "infinity" panel and the keys apparently...
I'm not sure which to get, with or without "infinity?" I like the clean look the "infinity" gives but I don't like the regular screen bezel with regards to the webcam...instead of only seeing a small circle with a lense like you do with the "infinity" panel, you see the entire 'housing' of the webcam in the bezel...it looks kinda tacky to me. Also a lot of people have complained about the "infinity" displays being less vibrant, dull and washed out with HUGE glare issues.
I have a pavilion dv6 6190se and I cant find an update of display driver in HP support and when i download the update from AMD site it doesn't work. the latest update on this site is v8.882 and i doesn't support win8 and it goes back to 2011-11-18. is there any way to update it?
