I've adjusted the custom on zoom to 100; I can get back to 199 by ctrl0; but some thing is interfering with the size of my script and even on email; it also enlarges photos on websites &email. I'm fed up with this whole notebook, windows 8 stuff. It even changes custom when it enlarges.

Model: HP15-N096EA ... When the laptop is turned on the screen colurs are inverted i.e. blue becomes orange, white becomes black etc. at times it flickers back to normal colours i.e blue shows as blue etc.
I have checked magnifers invert colours isn't turned on but when I do turn it on the inverted colours switch to normal colours obviously. There is also a vertical shimmer like every other vertical line is missing or phases in and out.
I have booted into safe mode to see if its a driver issue but the colours are still inverted, I've booted into the BIOS and again the colours are inverted and just to cover all bases I booted a live DVD of Mint Linux 17.1 and the legendary green of the mint distro was a lovely lilac. I've also tried high contrast i.e. Left ALt + left Shift + Print Screen.
My feeling is its the graphic chip or the monitor and I'm hedging more towards the monitor. Tomorrow I'll do a screengrab to see how that comes out and will also connect to an external monitor to see if the flicker and shimmer is still present.
Considering this is literally a month and 6 days out of guarantee it pretty bad, I would have expected a bit longer from a laptop before it started failing.
Update from Yesterday: I did a screengrab from the HP using the snipping tool in windows 7, this showed the colours inverted i.e. negative, I saved that screengrab to a USB stick and opened it up on my Mac, the image showed correctly i.e. not as a negative.
This is the image that is displayed on the laptop, there is no colour inversion, none of the graphics settings appear incorrectly set, I did actually set all settings back to defaults.
This is the screengrab from the laptop as it displays from another computer, which, in my case was my Mac. The screen appears to be displaying correctly, hence the screengrab image below but for some reason it is displaying an inverted image - Its like there is an overlay on the screen.
Could the inverter be faulty?
for some reason the on screen display meter for my volume when pressing on the keyboard suddenly disappeared, I would like to get this back. I found this thread in the forum URL.... which another was having the same problem I'm having. The only difference is that I'm using HP Pavilion G7 with Windows 7.

I can't find any drivers or anything to get it back. Also after I did this Sony Vegas won't open. I have a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, Windows 7 64-bit. Maybe its the display drivers.. so i start testing different drivers but no luck, it wont change. See below for example:

I currently have a dell xps 17 laptop. It will not switch on properly.
When I power it on, the lights flash on as normal, and some of the fans appear to start (although the side fan does not appear to work). The cd drive will open when I press the button, and the touch buttons light up on contact as normal.
However, the screen does not switch on at all. The laptop will stay on but nothing will happen. The side fan does not appear to be working either (i cant hear it, and that area gets VERY hot when plugged in).
I am currently on holiday and do not have an hdmi cable to test it on an external display (though I could maybe buy one).
I have tried fully charging and depleting the battery, I have tried removing and reinserting the coin cell battery and the memory.
The monitor will not come back on after sleep mode. The only way I can get it to come back on is to turn it off and then back on it has all updates.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a new XPS 15 9530with a Quad HD (3200x1800) screen running Windows 8.1.The Quad HD screen obviously requires some new smarts to display application windows properly because not all applications handle it well. "Beyond Compare" is a severe case in point - it seems that icons in it's windows are displayed very small and text box lines are truncated vertically, so much so that the bottom half (or more) of the text in these lines cannot be read. I'm guessing this is a Dell driver issue because of the newness of these screens. I'm a software developer and use Beyond Compare all the time. In some cases I can't even change the settings because the setting screen in unreadable with this issue.
There are other applications that exhibit the same or similar problem. Visual Studio 2010 has some issues, but the main problem I have with it is that some drop-down boxes are displayed extremely small. At least they're readable if you get close to the screen!the MS Office products I use all the time (Word & Excel) don't show any problems, but I wonder why these are good and "lesser known" apps have problems inadequate testing?
I develop in a dual-screen mode with a Dell U2412M monitor and the "bad" windows on the laptop screen do not change their perspective when I move them across - although during the drag they show as very large windows on the second screen until the whole window is in the second screen and then it shrinks to an "expected" size. It is this behaviour in particular that leads to think it is a driver "bug" that might be causing the window display problem.

My computer starts and runs through the welcome screen but then goes blank. The screen is backlit, and the mouse is there and I can move it, but screen is black. I shut down the computer last night and I think I closed it before it was done with its business. Opened it this am and was blank.
I have removed the battery and I think I have followed the hard reset appropriately, but I have seen 2 different instructions one in a forum and one in HP support page, so I am not positive.
This computer was purchased only a few months ago and this is pretty ridiculous, right?
I recent did Microsoft and Lenovo updates and I have lost the On-Screen Volumn display. Not the Volumn icon in the task bar, I lost the display that shows the volumn going up or down on the screen. The video support suggested installing Power Management but this did not work. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the audio drivers, also did not work.

The 'H' button is operating as a backspace for example and because I cannot see what I'm typing in the password bar, I don't know which keys are what. Only some keys produce characters and when typing other keys the system just beeps. I had this problem yesterday and I fixed it by holding the FN button and F4 or F7, I think it was F7 but now the same combination isn't working.

I don't know what the updates were, I have it set to autoload important updates. When I tried to "flip" my lock screen to enter my password to open, the screen did nothing but show energy waves around my fingertip. Used the keyboard to open to password page. Tried to pull up touch screen keyboard, nothing. Used regular keyboard to type in password and then the touchscreen works fine.

I had recently installed Windows 7 again on my Hard Drive and then i downloaded all the drivers for my Laptop from HP website. My Laptop pc is HP Pavilion DV6 -2155dx Entertainment. I have installed all the drivers but while installing Realtek Ethernert Controller Driver I found an error it was stating that " The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is Enabled Please Plug the Cable". And also while installing Atheros Drivers I found this error " The Device may not be present or could have been ejected / unplugged from the system.
Insert or Reinsert Now" I have also installed HP Wireless Assistant After installation and Rebooting The wireless assistant shows that wifi is disabled (orange light on the keyboard) but when i try to enable it, it doesnt turn blue but it states that Wireless Adapter is disabled by Device Manager. I also have checked the boot menu or bios and found that for wifi it was already enabled. In Device Manager i can find the device with yellow colored signal. I am not able to understand what exactly the error is as in Device manager it is showing the device and while installing the drivers it is showing it is ejected / unplugged".
I have a HP Pavilion g7-2325sb running Windows 7 64 bit. but the buttons for adjusting screen brightness don't work.The buttons for audio adjustment do work without pusshing the fn button.In bios "action keys mode" is enabled.I think it's some software missing but can't find the software, neither can "HP support assistant".

This is third time the same thing is happening to me. After i install some updates, display dimms, and background light became darker. When i restart computer, and enter BIOS, or if i am just looking at the screen before i log on to windows, backlight is normal.
My laptop shows me a blank screen after the windows bar loading screen. It did an automatic test on my hard drive to fix files, but when I restarted, it still would keep doing this test. I've tried to use a Windows Vista Upgrade/Recovery, but there is no backup and it keeps giving me an error on all types of restoration. I have just tried the Hard Disk Self Test and it says that there is an error #1 - 04 Fail. From what I've read in the forums, I will likely have to replace the hard drive, but how to recover the files from the old drive and what kind of drive I need to replace.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find a solution to repair a Vista (Home?) installation on an Aspire 5920. The laptop blue screens with a Stop error code 00000F4 when booted in either Normal and Safe Mode. This problem started after installing a program although it may also have a malware/virus problem. The inbuilt Startup Repair and System Restore both fail.
I have the Acer Recovery disks but the Acer eRecovery website suggests that all personal data will be lost if they are used. Is it possible to repair the OS installation from the recovery disks instead of reinstalling it?
My keyboard has stopped wanting to type any key back to back without a pause (whether it's a letter or delete or backspace). So if I'm typing a word with two letters that are consecutive, I have to pause or forget and backspace (which I can only do once also without a pause). It's also started this slight click/beep that happens usually in conjunction with the error although sometimes not. And, the click/beep isn't consistent (or at least I haven't found it's rhythm yet).
