Acer Aspire V5-573 :: Does Not Start Or Sometimes Starts For 2 Seconds

Some days ago it did not start when pressing the start button. I removed the charger and tried again, still nothing. Then i removed the backside to get access to the battery. I removed the battery and tried connecting just the charger.
Â
That causes the laptop to start for 2 seconds like normally, the fans start for like 1 second and then just shuts down and the start button wont work again. This happens every time I connect the charger and it's off battery.

Sometimes when I press the start button and works and starts like it should and then at a random time it shuts down once again. Mostly it just doesnt react to the start button.

I haven't replaced or modified the original hardware.

Oct 31, 2014I have a two year old V5 571, a week ago it stopped booting up when I pressed the power button. There are no beeps and the laptop doesn't boot as far as the POST screen.
 I've tried with battery and without and taken out the CMOS battery to reset it but still have the same problem.

 As it's only two years old I would hope the motherboard hasn't gone.

Apr 17, 2009When I start it everything is fine. You see the Acer logo. Ubuntu starts with a BIOS BUG #81[49435000]. Then when the Ubuntu load screen just freezes. When I reboot it the screen is dead. But after a cold start it's fine.
I don't think it's because of the bug, I've read it's because I have a 32-bit linux on a 64-bit. When I try to install XP it works for a while but then the screen just dies.

May 13, 2010I have a big issue with my Acer Aspire 5739G laptop that I recently purchased through Ebay. Actually, I bought it from Newegg dba Fred's Fresh Deals. (Newegg sells their returned items and cosmetically damaged goods under this name on Ebay). The laptop was advertised as a possible hard drive issue (it couldn't load windows and the error code looked like a boot sector virus, so I purchased it thinking a simple reformat will fix it).

After I did a fresh reformat of the hard drive and a fresh install of Windows 7, the laptop freezes/locks up after 10-30mins on the desktop. I cannot move the mouse or anything, so I have to do a hard reboot. I don't understand how it is happening.
I updated the mobo's Phoenix driver to the latest one, and tried older VGA Nvidia drivers because I thought it might be a video card driver issue; It is still locking up. I went as far as to purchase a brand new laptop hard drive and the problem still arises. There is no BSOD. As noted earlier, the computer just simply freezes. I cleared CMOS....240M GT VGA is running factory settings....I tried leaving only 1 ram stick in the laptop. I never ran through a problem like this before.
I ran it on Safe Mode and the computer seems to be working fine as long as I do simple tasks or remain idle. I did the SFC /SCANNOW in safe mode and it locks up. I attached my event view file to this email. (I tried to install RivaTuner to underclock factory settings, but the program could not load).

Only thing which shows up on the desktop is the recycle bin.
The Vista theme is changed to classic and I can't get it back.

Sound doesn't work
I can't open the control panel (in safe mode I can, but not all of the icons are there that should be there)
In the task manager there's only 4 processes running:
eplorer.exe csrss.exe taskmgr.exe (of course) and winlogo.exe
I think I can open all of my programs that I got installed, but basically I almost can't do anything else.
I've been trying to use system restore, but even in safe mode it won't open.

HP 15-N096EA Display :: Screen Colours Inverted Also Flickers Back To Normal
Sep 11, 2013Model:Â HP15-N096EA ... When the laptop is turned on the screen colurs are inverted i.e. blue becomes orange, white becomes black etc. at times it flickers back to normal colours i.e blue shows as blue etc.

I have checked magnifers invert colours isn't turned on but when I do turn it on the inverted colours switch to normal colours obviously. There is also a vertical shimmer like every other vertical line is missing or phases in and out.

I have booted into safe mode to see if its a driver issue but the colours are still inverted, I've booted into the BIOS and again the colours are inverted and just to cover all bases I booted a live DVD of Mint Linux 17.1 and the legendary green of the mint distro was a lovely lilac. I've also tried high contrast i.e. Left ALt + left Shift + Print Screen.

My feeling is its the graphic chip or the monitor and I'm hedging more towards the monitor. Tomorrow I'll do a screengrab to see how that comes out and will also connect to an external monitor to see if the flicker and shimmer is still present.

Considering this is literally a month and 6 days out of guarantee it pretty bad, I would have expected a bit longer from a laptop before it started failing.Â

Update from Yesterday: I did a screengrab from the HP using the snipping tool in windows 7, this showed the colours inverted i.e. negative, I saved that screengrab to a USB stick and opened it up on my Mac, the image showed correctly i.e. not as a negative.

This is the image that is displayed on the laptop, there is no colour inversion, none of the graphics settings appear incorrectly set, I did actually set all settings back to defaults.
This is the screengrab from the laptop as it displays from another computer, which, in my case was my Mac. The screen appears to be displaying correctly, hence the screengrab image below but for some reason it is displaying an inverted image - Its like there is an overlay on the screen.Â

Jan 22, 2015I have owned my new HP Pavilion 17 17-f114dx for only a month and it has worked great up to today. Â When I start it, it now takes slightly longer to boot up and log in. Â When I log in, I should see my desktop, but instead, I get a blank screen. Â I am able to see my cursor. Â I pressed control alt delete to see if anything looked abnormal and I am able to get to my task manager. Â Things looked fine to me. Â I am also able to right click a process and select "show location in folder" by doing this, it does bring up the folder. Â I can navigate to my internet browser from there, and still get online to post this, but my desktop is not there.Â
I have not installed any new hardware. Â The only software changes that I made were an installation of a game and I tried to update my version of Adobe Flash Player which was unsuccessful for some reason. I have tried doing a hard reset twice with no luck and also tried plugging it into my TV and nothing has worked.

Effort: We followed the instructions on the HP web site for this symptom (Desktop Screen Flashes Between a Blue Screen with a Blank Taskbar and a Desktop Screen on Startup (Windows 8)), but it failed at step 8 - the Start Screen flashes in Safe Mode with no way to find or enter the "Control Panel" step.
We have also rolled back the system to the last restore point, reseated the memory, and reset the BIOS - all HP recommended processes for video problems.
Current Status: We always look to resolve any problems via the HP web site first; this one had us stumped.

The only way I can connect is to uninstall all of the updates. The icons on my desktop also stopped working. When I click on them, it goes right back to desktop. Can't pin them to the taskbar either. The ones on the taskbar won't open by clicking on them either. Have to right click and tell it to open. Also problem getting my Norton anti-virus to open. Says it working but can't open it.

The CPU fan is totally off when the CPU temp is under 55°C (according to Everest). Once it's over 55°C, it goes onto its low setting. Somewhere higher up, it goes to its high setting.
The problem: Even just browsing the web and doing light desktop work (IM, Explorer, Word), the CPU temp creeps up to 55°C pretty easily. Once it does, the fan shoots on, but it only takes about 3 seconds to get to below 55°C, so it shuts off again. Without the fan, the temp goes up past 55°C again, and the cycle restarts.
The result is an on-off-on-off-on-off fan that turns on or stays off for only about 2-5 seconds at a time. REALLY annoying, esspecially in an otherwise quiet library environment. I can see people looking over at me with a "what the f is wrong with your computer" look.
I've updated the BIOS to its latest as of this date (Jan 06 2009) on the Acer site (3810), that didn't help any.
I've read (on this site) that Acer uses something propertiary to control their fan, causing normal fan control software to not work on Acer's.
Does anybody know of any software that will let me control the speed of the fan? I tried the fan control software for the Acer Aspire One, which didn't seem to work.
Acer :: 1350 Starts Up But Won't POST
Oct 28, 2009I have an Acer 1350, when I press the power button the CPU fan comes on for five seconds or so, but the screen doesn't come on, and the hard drive doesn't seek. If I leave it on, after a few minutes the CPU fan comes on again, so obviously part of it is working, but it just won't boot up.
The screen is definitely working fine because I've tested it on another Acer 1350, the hard drive is fine as well, also tested on another Acer 1350, the memory is fine, ditto.

Acer :: 2420 Notebook - Starts Slowing Down Again
Nov 25, 2008I've been experiencing kind of a problem with my Acer 2420 laptop. When I start up its usually pretty fast, but eventually it begins to slow down to the point where I have to restart the system completely. I have it running Windows Vista Home Edition at 512MB of ram, 1.5Ghz.
Its really weird because sometimes when I unplug the charger it works again but after I plug it back in, like 10 minutes later it starts slowing down again. I can't figure it out.

Apr 1, 2010i have already re seat my heatsink and replace the stock TIM with a better thermal paste which is the OCZ Freeze.
now i cant seem to remember and i also forgot to record thru OCCT the idle temps of the cpu at stock 1.2ghz clock.
i am wondering if it is normal if my idle temp now after my replacement of the stock TIM and reseating are ranging from 39 celsius up to 45 celsius while its load/slight apps would get these temps to 50 celsius going up to 54 celsius.
