and it still works fine! I cleaned it up and its still in working order except I have a problem. Some of the keys are sticky.. not on top, underneath. How do I go about cleaning it? Do I just pop off the keys like an old keyboard, or do i need to take the laptop apart to get at the keys?
View 10 RepliesI have two M1330s. One has 2GB of Hynix RAM (2x1GB) and the other 4GB of Nanya RAM (2x2GB).
I am thinking of making both machines 3GB - I think the extra RAM will outweigh the performance hit of partly losing dual channel access.
Are there likely to be problems?

i spilt horlicks on my dell inspiron 5100 and i did as the manual said and dried components such as the battery,
hard drive etc and switched it off and allowed it dry for 24 hous later and only the light comes on.
i am just worried as i have a lot of documents on that computer and it has been working for 5 yrs without incident.
I knocked over about 1/4 of a beer on my laptop this weekend. The computer did not shut down, I had to take the battery out to shut it down. The USB mouse still worked before shutting down, but none of the keys worked or the laptop mouse. I could click on all links and they worked fine. I took the computer apart and took the keyboard off and let it dry for over 24 hours. it still doesnt' work.

I upgraded to Windows 8.1 pro 64-bit on my HP split x2, and now the network controller has no driver, as well as one other device. I do not know where to find the drivers for these.

From what I've read around here the black keyboard on the Dell Vostro 1400 (PN JM629) fits on the XPS m1330 and now I'm looking to buy it.
The problem is, this keyboard costs $49.99 on Dell. I have found it on ebay for $16 shipped on ebay, but the thing is, the ebay listing says:
"New high quality keyboard

I've had my MBP for about 4 month now and have been having problems with its keyboard since I bought it. First, the "Z" key sank in (I think there was a problem with the spring). I took it to the Apple Store, and they "fixed" on the spot (it's much harder to press and only registered a key press 70% of the time). The lower right corner of the "E" has noticeably sunk in, and I need to resort to pressing the upper left corner. Also, the left side of the keyboard feels "mushy", not hugely so, but definitely noticeable after typing a few sentences. Can I request that Apple just replace the entire keyboard instead of just individual keys?

I love the Acer, just not its keyboard and miss the thinkpad keyboard - which really encourages typing. The acer really doesn't.
If the thinkpad keyboard isn't possible, what else might be?
I currently have an AA1 and am curious to those who tried typing on both the HP Mini and the AA1 keyboards and noticed a difference. I believe the HP's keyboard is 92% and the AA1's is 89% I believe. It feels "okay" to type on, obviously not the best due to its size compared to a normal keyboard, but am wondering if the HP's is worth the price jump (paid 300 for mine).

I have two problems.
1. My Apple wireless keyboard does not work.
2. My wireless keyboard does not work when I plug it into my macbook.
The new keyboard on the MBP is very hallow and cheap feeling. My older MBP keyboard feels better. Even the new MB keyboard feels more solid and robust.
The plastic keys feel too light and thin. Anybody else experience this issue with the new MBP?

The keyboard has a bulge or slight rise in the center. I have the back-lit keyboard.

I recently recieved my Studio 17 notebook from Dell and its really wonderful, everything works as it should except one thing (there always is isnt there)
The problem is with the keyboard, when i type it works fine, but when in games (especially the WASD-keys) get sort of "stuck". Not stuck like they are physically stuck, its more like if i press two keys at once they often freeze so im still strafing left or forward even though im not touching the keys.
This is pretty annoying when playing (cant tell you how many times it got me killed )
anyone know of a keyboard cover they make for the studio xps 13? I find that I tend to wear down my keys (I already put a strip of tape over my space bar cuz that's where most of the wear is).
View 10 Replies View RelatedI got a Dell Studio 1737 through the Dell Outlet, and after a little while the Num Lock light stopped working. The button still turns it on and off, and I've been debating calling and having to deal with them to get a replacement. Another option I've been thinking about is replacing it outright with the backlit keyboard.
My question is this. What will doing this outside of Dell do to the warranty? The Caps Lock light does still come on, so I'm thinking it's an issue with the light, and if I have to replace it, I might as well go with the better one.
Will the keyboard out of an XPS M1710 fit, UNMODDIFIED! into an XPS M170? As in, is it a direct replacement? Asking, cause I htink the all silver look woul be cool.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop that has been giving me problems lately. About three weeks ago, the middle row of keys on my keyboard suddenly stopped working.
I figured that the keyboard must have gone bad so I ordered another one off ebay and recently installed it.
Last night I let my younger sister use my m1530. She says she didn't spill on it or anything but today when I went to use it, some of the keys, mainly the asdf keys are crackling when I type and sometimes I can't even push down the s key.
I was going to take the keyboard out to see if I could clean it but after taking out the screws from where the battery sits, I can't manage to take off the control cover.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545. When in AOL mail, I am typing along and suddenly the email is sent before I am done.
I think I am accidentally hitting the shift/cntrl key. My palms DO NOT rest on the touchpad. I experimented in Yahoo mail and this never happened.
Also, while typing on this Dell, I suddenly find my cursor has jumped back about 2 or 3 lines and continues the typing, forcing me to back space out and return to the actual line of typing.
When I type in Microsoft Word or in Mozilla Firefox/Internet Explorer in my email program the keyboard is malfunctioning.
What happens is that when I type "A" it does what "CTRL+A" should do and selects the whole text/document. If I type "H" in Internet Explorer it opens the "History" panel to the side. I am not accidentally hitting the control button. It does this for T, F, O, I, A, K, and N .....

I've looked at the shaggymac site, but i am wondering what my other options are... i just want one mostly to have something right there to clean the screen with and to make sure the keyboard never touches the screen... can anyone suggest some good ones?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI knew it was going to happen sooner or later, and it did. I spilled a little water on my keyboard tonight. I dried it up fast enough or so I thought . When I type the letter q or z it comes up qa and za. the a pops up automatically after typing those letters. I finally got to the keyboard unscrewed it and noticed a little bit more water underneath. It wasn't a lot but enough to notice.
Am I screwed here or will this dry enough to get back to normal? When it first happened all my words were jumbled, but now it is just those 2 letters. Funny now my Caps lock is going on by itself
Should I just shut down for the night and keep the keyboard disassembled so it could dry?
When i open my Dell XPS 12 and turn it on the physical keyboard not the touch screen keyboard does not work all it does is make a clicking sound im not sure why.

My Dell XPS 12 has no right-click key on its keyboard; not even with the 'Fn' function key.
