I had to reinstall windows because of a virus. Windows 7 Home Premium
I am unable to load the audio and card reader drivers. I've ran all the windows updates and use Dell's support for finding the correct drivers. The system analysis identifies the drivers I need, but they refuse to load.
My laptop is dell inspirion 5520 with core i5, 8GB memory and amd radeon HD 7670M. When i bought adm radeon switchable graphic works ok. Yesterday, I update the graphic driver. version is 8.933.3.4 from dell website.
Previous version is 8.933.3.0.
After updating, catalyst control center can't load. So, I roll back previous driver version but the catalyst control center can't load.
I think switchable graphic not work.
I just reveiced my Lenovo Thinkpad x240 20AL000AAU with SD card reader integrated.
I inserted an SD card standard size and the card is read properly, I can access all the files and I can write on it.
The problem is that I cannot extract the card from the SD card slot!
If I right-click on SD card in My Computer and choose eject, it says that it is safe to remove the card. If I select "Safely remove Hardware and eject media" it tells me that it is safe to remove it...but the card is stuck inside!
I read somewhere to press the card until I hear a click but I cannot hear any click.
Also the card is unreachable inside the slot. I cannot grab it to pull it. I can only press it a little bit with the nail, it goes one millimeter inside but I don't hear any click.
I have recently purchased a laptop Dell Inspiron 5520, & all of its USB ports are USB 3.0, so i am unable to connect my USB 2.0 devices. May i know what exactly must be the problem?? or is it that i can't connect USB 2.0 devices on USB 3.0 ports??

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just finished installing Windows 7 on my new dv7-1285dx and while everything works just fine after a Windows update (audio/video/touchpad/sd card reader), when I run device manager there are three devices with no drivers and a small yellow exclamation mark on their icon. These three devices are all listed as "Base System Device" and when I tried searching for a driver update online it didn't find anything. I visited HP's drivers page for my model and I think I have everything listed there already working... It's just these three devices which I don't even know what they are.
In the original Vista install that came with the laptop there are no such errors in Device Manager. I already have my recovery discs if these might help in this situation.

Intel (R) HD Graphics 4000, and
AMD Radeon HD 7670M
Now, here is my problem, whenever i try to run any game I have to switch to the ADM card. But some games ask to choose a Graphics Adapter at which point I can only select the intel HD Graphics Card and not the AMD one. I tried to set High Graphics setting with AMD Catalyst Controller but the game does not seem to detect it. What do i do?? Is there any way I can select AMD card as my Default Graphics Adapter?
So I recently bought a laptop (Dell Inspiron 5520) with AMD Radeon 7670m HD graphics cards. However, the laptop came with another graphics cards too which is I suppose called an integrated graphics card. It's name is Intel HD 4000. So basically I was on a site which told me whether my computer could run a specific game or not. I passed everything like processor speed etc. but the graphics card. It said I use Intel 4000. I checked from some other applications and those also told me that I was using Intel 4000. I want to know whether I use both graphics cards or just Intel 4000 and if that is the case how I can switch manually from Intel to AMD Radeon graphics card.

Windows 8 recognizes it and shows the action center flag and advises us to install a new driver.. We install the driver R188776.exe, install it, and re-boot, but the memory card reader still doesn't work.. Is there another driver we can install?
View 5 Replies View Related I don't have the ssd msata option in the laptop I just purchased from Newegg so I decided to buy a samsung 840 250g ssd and do a clean install of win 7.Updated ssd to latest firmware, disabled secure boot in bios, sata was already set to ACHI, installed ssd and started loading win 7. It would get to the point that the tiles are floating around and it says "starting windows" and then locks up. Tried this several times and same thing.
Finally tried changing boot mode from eufi to legacy it works fine. I got win 7 installed. Now if I try to go back to eufi boot mode it just goes to a black screen (on start up) and displays detecting media (or something like that).So I guess my question is:
1. Why did I have to switch to legacy mode to begin with
2. Does leaving it in legacy boot mode affect performance?
One last thing, since installing win 7 I have been unable to install the nvidia drivers downloaded from dell for win 7. It either starts and immediately fails or it installs a little then I get a blue screen and the computer reboots.
I recently purchased this laptop and I have no alternate nvidia drivers, when installing i get the error message no compatible hardware found. I have already tried adding my device to the .inf list with no success, i might be doing it wrong?
Both intel HD 3000 and nvidia GT 625M drivers are listed on my product driver page but i do not know if I'm limited to what comes pre installed.
I have an Inspiron 1720. When I purchased the laptop, it was on Windows Vista but with all of the head aches I've been getting while using Vista, I decided to switch back to XP. I got almost all drivers for my laptop except for the Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus driver.

Everything worked flawlessly under that factory load. I decided yesterday to install Vista Ultimate x64 after having downloaded all drivers from Dell's website that I needed (made sure to download the x64 specific drivers). After installing, all drivers went in normally, but, the fingerprint reader (even though it's recognized in the control panel and services for it are running) doesn't give me the option of using it to logon to Windows or into any websites or anything else. I tried removing and reinstalling the drivers - no change. There is no GUI to enable/disable it that I can find. I've gone through the Program Files folder that it's installed into but nothing showing as an executable.

When I put the card in the reader, W7 tells me to format the card. This I do not want to do, of course. If I open Disk Management, it takes ages to open, and eventually shows the card as "Unallocated".
I have got acer TravelMate P253-E. since last restart it is unable to load windows 8. whenever I start it says"preparing disk recovery" and after "do not turn off the device this might take more then hour" and goes on like this forever. I left it one whole night but was still the same.

I was wondering if someone could give me a link to updated drivers/firmware for the DVD drive and the Wifi Card. I already updated the Intel Chipset from the Intel website.
Also, what is the best kind of RAM it will accept? I was thinking two 1GB sticks of pc2-5300, but I don't know if it'll accept that much?
