I have recently purchased a laptop Dell Inspiron 5520, & all of its USB ports are USB 3.0, so i am unable to connect my USB 2.0 devices. May i know what exactly must be the problem?? or is it that i can't connect USB 2.0 devices on USB 3.0 ports??

I am unable to load the audio and card reader drivers. I've ran all the windows updates and use Dell's support for finding the correct drivers. The system analysis identifies the drivers I need, but they refuse to load.
I've had my Inspiron N5030 for about 10 months now. I've been using the same wireless router for about 8 months with no problem up until a week or so ago. I started to intermittently have the limited connectivity issue. It would come and go. So I tried to unplug the wireless router and modem. After that it seemed to work okay but the next day I turned on my computer and it wasn't connected at all. It shows my network but when I try to connect it says that windows cannot connect to my network. I'm the person that set up the network so I have the correct key and code and it's worked fine for months so I'm not sure what's causing the issue. I've also tried resetting the router but that doesn't seem to work either. I have a ipod touch that's able to connect to the wireless fine though so whatever the issue is it seems to be with the laptop.

Error 797: The connection failed because the modem or other connecting device failed. Please make sure that the modem or other connecting device is installed.
I tried checking the Modem under Network Adaptors and found there is a yellow mark next to "WAN miniport pppoe"
I tried updating the drivers but its not accepting and gave me error:
"Windows has found the drivers for your device but unable to update, could not found the specified file"
I have tried udisabling and re-enabling wan miniport but no luck....Tried un-installing it and check all other settings in Internet options but no luck. How to restore it to factory settings if that is my last resort ?
I've got a new Inspiron 15 (S/N DPDYC12) with Ubuntu, installed Win7 x64 on it, installed the correct drivers from the Dell site, and on launch it brings up the error Synaptics touchpad 64-bit enhancements has stopped working.When I try to enter mouse options in control panel, I get the error Unable to connect to synaptic pointing device driver.Tried reinstalling the driver, rebooting, etc. I can't use multitouch or scroll on the touchpad.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't get my Yoga to recognise any BT devices. I have driver version 1.3.639.3 dated 1/9/2012. I downloaded an update otwb33ww.exe version 3.757.754.082313 but when I install it, I get eventually get a dialog saying "Confirm that Bluetooth is enabled on your system. Plug in your device and click 'OK'. I switch on my BT headphones, click OK and get a message saying "Reeltek Bluetooth is not installed on your system". Then have to restart and end up back with the old drivers.
Just noticed I can connect to my iPhone but still not my Plantronics headphones...
I just received a new Studio 15 (Vista Premium) with the Dell 1510 Wireless card and I'm unable to connect to my network using a Belkin N1 router. First let me say I'm limited in my knowledge of wireless networking but I did try troubleshooting a little without any success (Wi-Fi is turned on). When I click on "Connect To" it does pickup my network plus several others with great signal strength so the card is seeing networks but when I put my Key in it keeps coming up can't connect to my network.
Since the Studio 15 came with McAfee with it's firewall enabled I disabled it but still no connection. I even tried Safe Mode With Networking but still no success. I finally called Dell and he did some troubleshooting like having me go to Network Adapters and then to the Dell Wireless Card and Advance.
Under "Property" it was set to 802.11h+d and under "Value" it was set to "Loose 11h" but he had me change it to "Band Preference" and "Prefer 802.11g/b". It didn't make a difference but I did notice it had reverted back to the first settings when I back to that screen.
The tech gave up and transferred me higher up so the new tech says he needs to configure some settings on my Studio 15 and my Belkin Router in order for it to work but it would cost me $69.
I'm not paying Dell another $69 so can someone help me? I should state I have a Dell 1505 with their standard wireless card (not N1) and it connects with no problem.
I am having some difficulty getting a Dell Latitude D630 to connect to a projector. I have tried the Fn key+F8 key however this does not work. This option merely cycles through three other options all saying 'Presentation Mode Off'. I have been successful in connecting other laptops with the projector. Is there somthing with the D630 that I have failed to do that is causing this?

Of course this has caused issues with drivers, and the Windows 7 64-bit drivers listed on HP's website for my laptop do not work properly. Currently the laptop does not recognize any USB device and I am unable to connect to the Internet, making it difficult to run any diagnostics to obtain information needed to find the best drivers for my system. Where can I find drivers for my laptop that will allow it to function properly?

I want to use my notebook to do a presentation in class. However, no matter which projector I connect to my Vaio SZ440, the display is unable to be shown on the projector.
I've tried Fn+F7, not working, tried stamina mode, not working, tried speed mode, not working. I've tried "Connect to a projector or other external display", not working. I've no idea what I should do. I really need to fix this or else I'll get screwed this semester. Every other notebook the projector connects to, it will automatically detect and show the display. Only mine is like this.
Please help. About 1 year ago I didn't experience any problem when connecting to a projector. I didn't remember what exactly I do to make it go bad. But I really need it to work this semester.
I own an HP Envy dv6 Notebook PC, MOdel No.2CE243OCYT. It has an Atheros AR9485 802.11 b:g:n WiFi adapter. There is an HP update for that adapter, but when I updated it, I was unable to connect to the internet. I realize that this WiFi adapter is only for 2.5G. I had to refresh my laptop, then I had internet access again. I have not tried that driver update again, but TWC just updated my Cable modem to dual band using the 2.5G and 5G bands.I am afraid to install the Atheros update in my lapotop again because I don't want to go though the hassle of re-installing all my software pd[rograms again.Is there a dual band WiFi adapter that HP recommends, and is it easy to install?

But when I want to connect to a network it gets to a point when it asks me for the username and pass, and stops there. The error sometimes says that it can't identify the server or that i should just try to reconnect. I tried connecting to various networks, and I can't even make it tell me that my pass is wrong... It seems that it isn't able to communicate with the server. It passes Intel wlan tests until the 'association' test.
Rainstalling the drivers and/or the windows didn't help, should I send it for RMA?
I was happily connecting to my home wifi yesterday evening before my HP Pavilion g7 notebook updated to windows 8.1. Now I can only connect via ethernet cable.
I phoned Microsoft Support and was told that my wifi driver was out of date and that this needs to reinstalled. I have had a look at available downloads for network drivers but I am unsure how to establish which one I need.... there are 4 options.
Under Device Manager > Network Adapters, there was only one driver which needed update according to this. The Realtek PCle FE Family Controller. When I checked for updates here is said that it had updated successfully, but I am STILL unable to connect to the internet.

There's a yellow triangle over the WiFi icon. Windows diagonsed it but failed to correct it. A message appears " Wireless Network Connection doesn't have a valid IP address. At times, it fixes the issue but within seconds, the problem again hops up.I am able to connect my mobile and other devices via same router. Also, when I switch on my mobile's Wifi Tethering, laptop connects to the network easily without any issue.

All look fine excluding following problem: I unable to switch the laptop to my Microsoft account. Currently the laptop is connected to local account but that does not allow me to use SkyDrive and MS Store.
I tried following: Went to Setup, pressed on <Switch to Microsoft account> button, then I've asked to provide my local password, and then my email.
Finally the white rectangle appeared for an half minute or so, and then following message is appearing:
Sign in with Microsoft account. The service isn't available right now - please try again later.
I tried for a week but unsuccessfully.
I'm sure my Microsoft account is functioning good. I can sign in to it using a web browser.
Then I called to MS support service, they told me that they do not support Windows RT at all. As they said: Windows RT IS NOT A MICROSOFT PRODUCT, each HW vendor builds it for it own use as he wants. And they sent me back to Lenovo support.
I have 3 thinkpads that after a fresh reload are unable to connect to wireless networks. I have gone through and installed the different wireless drivers on the lenovo support website.I have gone through several steps of similar problems others have had but it hasn't made a difference.
I have installed:
-HotKeys & patch
-Power manager & driver
-Chipset
The realtek network -ethernet adapter and communications LAN driver.I have installed and removed each wireless adapter available

On a side note in the Device manager screen there is a "Network Controller" alert saying no driver installed for this device. I have determined it is some Realtek device but beyond that I am lost.
I have tried all the options in your post and still I'm unable to connect to WiFi with WPA2-PSK encryption. Currently I'm using the driver atheros 5007 WiFi network adaptor.

When I plug my flashdrive into hers, it lights up, but that doesn't happen on mine. I recently reset my computer to factory settings to try and fix other issues including the problem with the usb ports, but the usb devices are still not recognized.
I recently sent in my laptop due to problems of it not being able to turn on, and my battery and a/c adapter were replaced. I was quite happy. However, I do not want to send it back in even though it is under warranty. Since I am a college student, I really need my laptop. If nothing works, I'll send it back in over winter break so I'm not without a laptop during my studies.

Device manager shows bluetooth as working and i can click the bluetooth icon in system tray. but strange thing is it wont detect any Bluetooth devices. another issue i observed is that when i try to install a Dell device driver for blue tooth it will generate an error message "Activate Bluetooth Using Wireless Switch". i tried FN +F2 key but it works with wireless only. i tried PC health checkup utility . and all kind of checking. checked bios whether Bluetooth is disabled. i could not find option to enable bluetooth. tried windows update.

I have to be very careful because I barely touch my touchpad and the mouse will click. I have tried to figure out how to turn the sensitivity down but I cannot find it in the devices. It tells me no devices were found when I click on the mouse folder. I have tried and tried but I cannot find anywhere to change the settings for the touchpad. when I am trying to type a paper and I look up and half my paper is in the middle of a different section or it just hasn't been typing because I have clicked out of the screen.

So I plugged it in and used it for a few minutes when suddenly the screen went black and the computer just shut off while plugged in. I noticed that my charging cord had a green light when it was plugged into the wall but the light went off as soon as it connected to my laptop. I've tried letting it charge, I've tried holding down the power button, I've tried removing the battery and plugging it back in, and I've tried a newer charging cord but the computer still won't turn on. No lights come on even when it is plugged into the wall.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron 5520, with Win 7 Home premium 64 bit and an external Western Digital HDD My passport Essential SE (3.0). The laptop is fairly new, I purchased it last June. From first day it seemed that something was wrong with the connection with the hdd. In case I was even touching the cable of the hdd it was disconnecting for example, and since yesterday it doesn't detect it at all!
The light of the hdd goes on, and I can feel it working, but I get no beep sound on my computer, I dont see the drive on device manager, and in general its nowhere!
I tried the hdd in all four USB ports and nothing. The drive has no problem on other computers (with OS Vista and Win 7). My mouse works perfectly on all four usb ports.I updated the drivers for BIOS and chipset, I run pc check up. I checked both laptop and drive with antivirus and antispyware programs. I reinstalled the driver from WD website.
