I have bought a Inspiron 5421 laptop last week during IT show 2013 Singapore. I found that one of USB port next to DVD drive does not fit any devices. Also encountered Error message when insert a wireless mouse receiver in other USB ports.

My Inspiron 5421 won't start. I can hear the drive start and after a few seconds I get a 4-beep code (RAM read/write failure). The warranty expired about 6 months ago.

I've checked the BIOS and it shows the new HDD. I put the Operating System CD in and started the computer than I hit F12 went to CD/DVD and hit enter I received the message "No boot sector on Internal hard drive" "No bootable devices"

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to connect a Moto G phone to use as a GPS in a Dell Insipron 5421 with windows 7 pro 64 bits, and although the phone is recongnized, it gives an error when configuring the services, so no service is available. I've found a diversion to solve the file transfer issue but still cannot find a SPP outgoing port for connecting the GPS service to the laptop, and still have to services that fail to load a driver. I've tried every version of the driver and the Pro/Set wireless solution inlcuding de 17.1 version (12/29/2014) but still doesn't work.

when I pair my phone (HTC Sensation) with my laptop I can only see the option to share files and transfer PIM objects. There is no option whatsoever to stream audio or to use my laptop as a headset. I had this option in my windows 7 acer laptop but that was using a Broadcom driver for Bluetooth..
My laptop suddenly hanged. When I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Del, the menu did not come on. When I repeated, it did not shut down. I manually shut down the laptop. When I restarted, it said cannot find hard disk drive and no bootable devices.
Someone checked it out and they say the drive has crashed. Is it possible the links are loose? Is it possible to recover data from drive?
I have three usb ports, and none of them seem to be working. Although the devices work on my roommate's laptop, they are not recognized on mine. When I plug my flashdrive into hers, it lights up, but that doesn't happen on mine. I recently reset my computer to factory settings to try and fix other issues including the problem with the usb ports, but the usb devices are still not recognized.
I recently sent in my laptop due to problems of it not being able to turn on, and my battery and a/c adapter were replaced. I was quite happy. However, I do not want to send it back in even though it is under warranty. Since I am a college student, I really need my laptop. I purchased dell Inspiron 3520 with Linix OS. i formatted and installed Windows 7 home premium. downloaded and installed all driver files from dell website. no device is unidentified in the device manager. everything is fine except the blue tooth. Device manager shows bluetooth as working and i can click the bluetooth icon in system tray. but strange thing is it wont detect any Bluetooth devices. another issue i observed is that when i try to install a Dell device driver for blue tooth it will generate an error message "Activate Bluetooth Using Wireless Switch". i tried FN +F2 key but it works with wireless only. i tried PC health checkup utility . and all kind of checking. checked bios whether Bluetooth is disabled. i could not find option to enable bluetooth. tried windows update.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi recently bought a vantex nexstar 3 external hard drive with the option of usb and e-sata. The problem i am having is with e-sata. The e-sata is the prefered method of exchanging information dur to its speed rather than usb.
I would like to know from the community in large if there is anyone who has experienced these problems or has connected an external to their m4400 laptop.
The external laptop has a seagate 7200 rpm FFS(free fall sensor) inside.
The problems:
1) When connecting the exHD to the laptop for the first time the HD spins (i can feel it) but then stops. Windows does not pick it up as well as Intel Matrix Storage manager. Only when i restart the laptop still with the exHD connect does windows pick it up as well as Intel Matrix Storage manager.
I did in both cases check to see if the exHD needs more power and it is sufficient.
2)Another issue is that i have windows reporting to me that an external hard drive has been connect to my system even though i havn't plugged it in .....
I am having problems with the touchpad on my laptop. When I am in the middle of typing I have to watch because it will begin typing where my cursor was laft on the screen. I have to be very careful because I barely touch my touchpad and the mouse will click. I have tried to figure out how to turn the sensitivity down but I cannot find it in the devices. It tells me no devices were found when I click on the mouse folder. I have tried and tried but I cannot find anywhere to change the settings for the touchpad. when I am trying to type a paper and I look up and half my paper is in the middle of a different section or it just hasn't been typing because I have clicked out of the screen.

Based on my research, my best option is to hook it up to a PC via a firewire. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new Inspiron 1525 and am trying to get my photos from a 1 gig sd card into a file on my laptop. I've removed the "fake" sd card that came with the computer and put in the picture card. It opened once (meaning it showed up as as an sd card in the "my computer" area, but I moved on to something else at home and eventually "safely removed" the card without finishing my task. A few days later I tried again but the computer doesn't even recognize the card... the "my computer" area does not list the card as being in its slot.
What is more curious is that if I remove the card and put it into my trusty multi-slot card reader and insert that into one of the usb ports it opens up the iphotos on the sd card just fine and I can upload from there. I know I can just use the card reader, but I really like of being able to just put the sd card directly into the laptop.
My HDMI port does not work. I have a N7010, 17R. I tried downloading other drivers but nothing seems to work. Is there a way to tell is it's a mother board issue or driver issue?

If you plug in speakers or a headset you have to wiggle the cord to hear anything but it keeps going out. So I'd need to send it in and have it fixed. I no longer have a warranty.

Using my inspiron 2330 (only 18mths old ) as normal next thing it tells me it encountered fault and has to reboot anyway it keeps saying scanning and repairing drive (c) then does not allow me to log in so i manage to get into bios to do a scan and it guves me a error code of 2000-0142 validation code of 112406 and and then says harddrive 0-s/n wd-wmc152946178
When i finally manage to log in my desk top screen is flashing and keeps telling my hard drive fault ....

Set the BIOS to USB in number one position, but this laptop won't boot from the external drive. Is this laptop bootable via a USB platter drive or a thumb drive? Also, can the recovery partition be used to repair Win 7 or is the recovery partition only to format the drive and install software the way it was when new ?
