I have an inspiron 9300 with 100 GB HDD. Recently I had a huge malware or even virus that slowed down my computer tremendously.

I took it to geeksquad and they where able to remove it, but it still ran a lot slower than I ever remembered.

Dell XPS 12 :: Cannot Find Hard Disk Drive And No Bootable Devices

Nov 18, 2014

My laptop suddenly hanged. When I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Del, the menu did not come on. When I repeated, it did not shut down. I manually shut down the laptop. When I restarted, it said cannot find hard disk drive and no bootable devices.

Someone checked it out and they say the drive has crashed. Is it possible the links are loose? Is it possible to recover data from drive?

Dell XPS M1330 :: Error Auto-sensing Internal Hard Disk / No Bootable Device Available

Nov 29, 2014

I cannot boot into Windows anymore. The error - Error auto-sensing internal hard disk, no bootable device available' comes up.

I've removed & reinserted the disk tray but the error persists.Even in the BIOS the hard drive doesn't show up and  cannot be detected by Diagnostics either.

I removed it from the laptop and connected it to my desktop and its working fine. So my guess is the problem is not with the disk. The laptop is out of warranty.

Dell Inspiron 1545 :: New Hard Drive Installation

Jan 30, 2013

My existing hard drive is failing.  So I purchased and installed a new hard drive in my laptop.  Ran diagnostics.  Failed the hard drive "confidence test" and got error reading 4400:011A target not ready.  I ran the "device self test" and it passed.  The other possible tests "read test" and "verify test" are grayed out probably because the diagnostics/system cannot see the hard drive.  At the dos prompt I can access C drive and run its DIR and CHKDSK.  So the new drive appears to be physically installed but the computer system does not recognize or identify it.

Dell Inspiron 1545 :: Replace And Load Os On Hard Drive?

Jan 4, 2015

I replaced the hard drive on my inspiron 1545 and tried to restore it with the dell data safe disks that I made when I got the machine.  Windows 7 loaded but I couldn't do anything with it,  It was very slow, I couldn't even get it to update. So I loaded in the windows 7 disk that came with it and now I have windows up and running and updated.  My question is what drivers do I need to install.  I went to dell/support and entered my service tag number and it came up with a list of drivers (46 of them), some I know I need but others seem to be for things I don't know if I have on the computer.  How do I know which ones I need?

Also I read something about a file called Dell System Software but its not on the drivers list.  Do I need it or not?

Dell Inspiron 1545 :: New Hard Drive - No Windows Update

Apr 22, 2013

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 running Windows 7 64 bit SP1.  Recently I cloned my old original SATA hard drive for a larger Seagate (600Gb).  All is fin apart from no windows update and an annoying request to activate.  When i try to update I get a message that my service isn't running and I need to re-boot.  It is running and a re-boot makes no difference. In System properties the laptop says it is activated but Windows thinks otherwise.

Dell Inspiron 1545 :: Won't Power Up - Hard Drive Failure

Nov 5, 2014

Unit powered up fine before, no issue's....worked like a champ until drive failure.

Had a hard drive error code, replaced w/ upgraded 500GB from 320GB. Computers are not my acumen although I found that I can take them apart and put them back together w/o issue-so far. Rebuilt my old Toshiba Satellite 455...new base, top, charger jack, screen, etc..works perfectly!  It would be the drive which slides in on the left,, held by two screws, not the disk drive unit.

Powered up fine, than several minutes later powered off. Charger is fine, I replaced the charger jack, still won't power up.

I broke the WLAN white connector, pulled the male end off the board by accident., black OK. It  broke when I went to replace the charger port. That wouldn't cause it to not power up though right?

I replaced the complete charger port board, not just the port. Seems something happened after I replaced the new driver card

Dell Inspiron 1545 :: How To Boot From Recovery Partition On Cloned Drive With Vista

Dec 8, 2014

My uncle has a Dell Inspiron 1545 with 3Gb RAM, 160 Gb HD and Windows Vista Home Premium. On boot up there is an error message stating that a back up should be performed immediately as the hard drive has a serious problem.

The good news is that I managed to make a clone of the 160 Gb HD to a 1000 Gb HD (Western Digital Blue) using Paragon software before the original drive failed. The bad news is that the cloning process stopped at 42%, but this 42% included the recovery partition and another part of the HD called Dell Utility.

I installed the cloned WD drive and pressed F8 on boot up, but the advanced boot menu did not appear. Instead I get the error message 'no bootable devices'.

I ran the diagnostics program using F5. All the tests were completed and 'passed'. The BIOS recognizes the new drive as 1000 Gb.

Question: how do I boot the laptop? My uncle does not have any recovery media.

When it boots, I see the Dell starting up screen with F2 and F12 options but then it immediately displays a black screen with the text "Operating System Not Found". I've tried to press F12 with no luck, it always displays "Operating System Not Found". I double checked to ensure the hard drive is not loose and everything looks fine.

Every once in a while, especially in the middle of a lengthy download, everything stops and the screen goes right to this message: No bootable devices found.

Error Code 2000-0141. This used to happen very infrequently, but now it is more often and scary. I have removed and reseated the HD twice.

Dell Latitude D630 :: DVD / CD Not Found - No Bootable Devices

Feb 24, 2013

My previous Dell Latitude D630 went out of order (nvidia graphics) so I bought another d630 second hand without hard disk and introduced the "old" hard disk.

Everything works fine (installing drivers...) except the DVD/CD is not recognized at all:

- when in the BIOS, putting the boot sequence to: CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive

the Laptop says: No bootable devices... (It also says that, when I unplug the DVD/CD)

The DVD/CD itself does a short spinning movement when booting, so it seems to have "electricty".

I've upgraded the BIOS to A18 already;

When booting Windows, the drive is missing altogether (the hardware manager does not show it as an unregonized driver; instead the drive is missing altogether)

I understand the DVD, though introduced to the Laptop, is connected via USB - do I need some USB driver update or how can I fix this?

Is there a manual that would tell me how to check cabling or similar things? when I introduce the DVD from the old hardware - which was/is working, it is also not found in the "new" laptop, so I suppose the DVD hardware "connection" is missing??

Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 :: MSATA SSD As Bootable Drive

Jan 30, 2013

So, I desperately need the SSD speed.

I know i can use the intesl caching stuff, but i dont want to!!

Intel® Smart Response Technology: This technology utilizes the speed advantage of SSD in caching where the frequently used information is stored on the SSD instead of the Hard drive.

Intel® Rapid Start Technology: This technology enables the system to boot back with-in seconds after getting into hibernation.

What i am looking to do is, put a 128GB mSATA SSD drive in the slot, fire windows into in and use this as my OS & APPS drive, (Drive C:), and then use the existing drive, the 1TB mechanical drive as the storage drive (Drive D:).

The dell site, say i can not use an MSATA SSD to boot with...i see no reason why!?

Also, i cant find the spec of the mSATA...dont know whether its SATA 3 or SATA 2.

Dell :: Inspiron 1520 Users 1TB Laptop Internal Drive ?

Apr 18, 2010

my 320gb drive that shipped from Dell 2 years ago is dieing out. It will need to be replaced soon. I am curious if any Inspiron 1520 users have upgraded to one of these new 1TB capacity laptop drives. Previously 500gb was the max capacity but now 750gb and 1Tb versions are available. From what I understand the drives must be 2.5 inch to fit in an Inspiron 1520.

Has anyone done this yet ? Which model drive have you installed ? Did you have any issues 'fitting' the drive in ? How is it working out ?
