Dell :: Installing 7 Pro On Xps 1640 Re Drivers

I received my 7 Pro Disc set this morning. So thumbs up to MS for getting this out so promptly. I've been running nothing but Win 7 on my XPS since it came out in beta form. I love it etc. Fantastic.
My question is in regards to the install process for specifically my laptop. I am doing a clean & 64 install of course.
Where I am unclear, & I've always struggled with Dell in these matters is: Should I be paying any attention to Dells offerings for drivers (I'm talking everything from chipset to Ethernet)
or does Win 7 have better choices upon install? I just ran the Intell driver update tool & my product is "recognized but unknown" so no

I have an Aspire 1640 laptop with an internal Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG network adaptor. Since upgrading my Windows XP to Windows 7, as a clean install the wireless will not work.

After installing some core drivers, I still could not see the Dell symbol and the Studio XPS 1640 series in My Compyter/ Properties.
Moreover, the eject button of my DVD slotload doesn't know anymore, even if I have check I downloaded the lastest driver of it. (but I can eject by right click in the DVD driver in My Computer and my laptop still reads CD/DVD as usual)
In addition, after install ATI 3670 drivers, I do not see the ajustment for my graphic card anymore.
Any one knows which drivers and software I should install to get my Dell as a new Factory Image Dell Studio XPS 1640 with Windows 7 64 bit, please let me know.
Here are the details of my laptop:

Can anyone direct me to a place i'm able to obtain windows xp 32 bit drivers for my xps studio 1640? Currently i'm running vista 64bit, but due to a few problems i want to go back to XP 32 bit.
I've looked on dell's website and it seems they only provide vista and windows 7 drivers now. Since XP is still commonly used surly i can get the drivers from some where?

I was just checking for drivers for my 1640 (I recently re-installed Windows 7 RC 64 bit) and lo and behold, Dell is now showing 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 operating system choices for the drivers...
The available drivers you see when choosing 64 bit Windows 7 are certainly not all there by a long shot and most of them appear to be the same as the Vista drivers but it is at least a promising sign! The new Quickset driver appears to be specifically for Windows 7.

I periodically check Dell's site for updated video drivers but they are always sooo old. (Dell's driver-Version 7. something, Intel's-Version 11.something) Intel's site is much more up to date. Anyway, I'll download the Intel drivers and attempt to run the installer. It'll extract all the files but then close and show a message stating that the driver isn't "validated" to run on this computer and that I must get driver updates from my pc maker.
Why are others able to install the drivers, even on other Dell systems? Is it a business notebook thing due to the need for stable system images?

I'm going to buy the VGN-FW550F/B with W7 Home Premium pre-installed. I want to install the Ultimate version after I got my notebook. I already got the CD for Windows 7 Ultimate and stuff. The problem is that Sony only got drivers for Windows 7 Home Premium for the model "VGN-FW550F/B". Can I install those drivers using Windows 7 Ultimate?

I have bought "Acer aspire TravelMate 5730".
I have installed windows xp professional. I want to change my bios setting for Sata mode to "IDE" to "AHCI" for that I have to install AHCI Drivers into win xp but I am not able to install AHCI drivers in win xp.
Whenever I am trying to install AHCI drivers, system gives me error

I'm thinking about formating and installing fresh, I have read the Out-Of-Box guide. But I have a little doubt. After installing OS, which drivers do I need to install. I mean, like there are two drivers available under Graphics for my laptop(HP dv6-1387tx). Similarly, for other categories like Network, there are more than one drivers listed. Well my PC came OEM installed with Vista 32 Bit edition and I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit edition (as i get a student discount).
Looking around the forums and internet in general, I have noticed that on the acer 6920g there seems to always be a problem with drivers such as the CineDash, Realtek, TV tuner, Modem, Card reader, Fingerprint, Webcam, Bluetooth etc.. I have also read that you can fix the launchmanager by running in Vista compatiability mode.
If i do an in-place upgrade (going from vista 32-bit to windows 7 ultimate) will it be fine? Also is there anything I should be cautionous of such as the drivers etc..
I would actually really like to do a clean installation but I'm worried that the keyboard "quick" buttons (such as the internet,bluetooth,mail on the side of keyboard will not work)- can someone please confirm if I did a clean installation, would theese buttons still work?
Also I have two games:GTA IV, Call of Duty 5 , will theese both work on windows 7 (or on compatability).

I recently bought HP compaq 15-s006TU and the wifi doesn't work in windows. The wifi button on the keyboard is always orange. I have tried downloading and installing the wifi and bluetooth drivers from the following links [URL] They install but wifi still doesn't work. I'm working on this Acer Aspire AS7520-5311 laptop, on Vista 32, with a NVIDIA GeForce 8400M. Trying to tweak some graphic settings last night somehow I guess I deleted the video drivers for the nvidia card. I went into the device manager and deleted all of the display drivers. When it rebooted it tried to install it again. For some odd reason, it installed a "Standard VGA adaptor". So my desktop resolution is back to the former settings but any remotely graphic demanding programs will not run. I've went to Acer's website and nvidias website and cannot find the exact NVIDIA GeForce 8400M driver. I've tried everything listed under the model number on acer's website and it will install, reboot, but when comes back up. It still only shows the same standard vga adaptor.
This did not come with a restore disk for some odd reason!
Now before I just blame Vista, transfer all of my data, erase it, and then put XP on it.
I'm sure If I could somehow find the correct driver for the video card it would help.

I bought a HP laptop - pavilion 17-f008sr Energy star (G7Y08EA). There was a Windows 8 operating system installed. To work on that laptop, I had installed a Windows 7 OS (64bit).
Than I started a system, I saw a problem with my USB in Device Manager (universal serial bus usb controller and Sm bus controller). As a result USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 didn't work. I spent a lot of time to find different drivers to try solve that problem, but I still have it. Intel usb drivers and and much similary drivers not working with my laptop or did not installing because I have not right system for much of drivers that I found.

I have an HP Pavilion Sleekbook Touchsmart 14-B132TX. My sound disappeared while I was working using it about a month ago. I phoned HP Hotline and the Tech Support told me to just uninstall it from Device Manager and upon restart, the driver will install automatically. Which I did.

The sound did come back but again it disappeared after about 15 minutes of use, so I called tech support again and they gave me links to HP Support for drivers to download and install which I did and restarted the computer and the sound came back again. BUT AGAIN, the sound disappeared. I phoned tech support and they told me to just do a system restore which I did and the sound came back again. But it again disappeared after about just 7 minutes of use.

These are the drivers I installed from HP's website:  sp60642, sp64082,  sp60464 and sp64031. After so many reinstallation of drivers. I cleaned my notebook with CCleaner and went to HP  Support Assistant in the hope of getting a solution, there was an instruction there to download the QUALCOMM Atheros driver, and I installed again the said driver..The sound reappeared after restarting. AND AGAIN, it disappeared after just using the laptop for just about 3 minutes. This laptop is quite new, just bought it 10 months ago. I'm using the Windows 8 OS.

I have brought a new dell studio 1435 laptop and they provided me with default windows vista home premiun OS.
I have installed windows XP professional OS after changing the BIOS settings for onboard devices (In BIOS:
Onboard Devices -> Flash Cache Module -> Set Off

Does anyone know if Dell modifies the video card drivers that they post on the driver download website specifically for their machines?
Or do they just download the latest drivers from the Nvidia webiste test on a particular machine for a little while and either pass or fail the driver for official use?

I was watching something on youtube when I noticed a small dust-like spot/dot on the screen and i tried cleaning it off but it wouldn't go away. It looks to be inside the screen (if that makes any sense) and is evident when there is a black background/or when the comp is off. So my question to you is
1) what am i looking at?
2) Can i get rid of it?
3) Do other people here a have similar issue?

Does the 1640 play GTA IV well? In the official owners forum (1640 w/4650) somebody said its very sluggish but from youtube vids it appeared to play it very well. Can anyone confirm that it plays well at a modest resolution (WXGA)
