in case i connect, some external device through USB to my laptop.
I guess my PCI drivers are not updated.
I am using HP Pavilion - g6-1b79dx windows 7 (64 bit) and below are my Hardware id's taken from the device manager.

I have an HP Pavilion dv5-1183cl that has been upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) and I have some issues.I have four errors showing up in my device manager, three Base System Device and one Unknown Device, and I don't know what they are or where to get the drivers (since I don't know what they are). Additionally, the battery will not charge (there does not appear to be anything wrong with it physically). I am wondering if the below errors are related to the battery issue. Below are the hardware IDs for each error entry.

The DM4 has no operating system, for unknown reasons, and cannot be started up
Revovery discs were never generated. The hard drive and ram passed all tests.
I tried to reinstall a new Windows operating system using internal CD , but the system cannot be installed.
The following Windows message, appears: "No signed device driver found".
How can I overcome this problem and re-install Windows?

I bought a HP laptop - pavilion 17-f008sr Energy star (G7Y08EA). There was a Windows 8 operating system installed. To work on that laptop, I had installed a Windows 7 OS (64bit).
Than I started a system, I saw a problem with my USB in Device Manager (universal serial bus usb controller and Sm bus controller). As a result USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 didn't work. I spent a lot of time to find different drivers to try solve that problem, but I still have it. Intel usb drivers and and much similary drivers not working with my laptop or did not installing because I have not right system for much of drivers that I found.

There is a problem with my PCI device drivers. The message on the properties page is "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver." I have tried Updating the drivers but it doesn't work. I have an HP Pavilion Sleekbook Touchsmart 14-B132TX. My sound disappeared while I was working using it about a month ago. I phoned HP Hotline and the Tech Support told me to just uninstall it from Device Manager and upon restart, the driver will install automatically. Which I did.
The sound did come back but again it disappeared after about 15 minutes of use, so I called tech support again and they gave me links to HP Support for drivers to download and install which I did and restarted the computer and the sound came back again. BUT AGAIN, the sound disappeared. I phoned tech support and they told me to just do a system restore which I did and the sound came back again. But it again disappeared after about just 7 minutes of use.
These are the drivers I installed from HP's website: sp60642, sp64082, sp60464 and sp64031. After so many reinstallation of drivers. I cleaned my notebook with CCleaner and went to HP Support Assistant in the hope of getting a solution, there was an instruction there to download the QUALCOMM Atheros driver, and I installed again the said driver..The sound reappeared after restarting. AND AGAIN, it disappeared after just using the laptop for just about 3 minutes. This laptop is quite new, just bought it 10 months ago. I'm using the Windows 8 OS.

I was able to install and configure all drivers but one. I found a tread that suggested installing Lenovo Setting Dependency Package 2.0.0.13 to fix it on a different lenovo model. I tried it without any success.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 which had both Intel and AMD drivers installed correctly, switchable graphics was also functioning properly.
The problem started when I tried to update the 2010 AMD driver with the latest one (2011) on the officail Lenovo site. The install seemed to run through, but informed me that there were warnings during the installation. I opened the linked log file, but it did not include any errors or warnings, only that the installation ran through successfully.
As the driver version still showed that it was the 2010 driver which is installed, I uninstalled the driver, and tried to install the 2011 driver again after a reboot. It once again said that the installation was successfull, but with warnings (still no warning in the log file). When I tried to check the driver version, it turned out that the AMD graphics card is not visible in the device manager, not even as an unrecognised device.
I then tried to install the old 2010 driver (the original driver installation files were already on my D: drive upon delivery), but got the same results as with the 2011 driver.
Removing any AMD/ATi related programs did not work either, I still get a "finished" installation with warnings, and a log file without warnings or errors.
OS is Windows 7 (64bit)
GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 (+Intel HD...)
Switchable graphics is turned on in BIOS.
how I could get the system to recognise the attached ATi graphics card, or at least realize that it is there?

I received my 7 Pro Disc set this morning. So thumbs up to MS for getting this out so promptly. I've been running nothing but Win 7 on my XPS since it came out in beta form. I love it etc. Fantastic.
My question is in regards to the install process for specifically my laptop. I am doing a clean & 64 install of course.
Where I am unclear, & I've always struggled with Dell in these matters is: Should I be paying any attention to Dells offerings for drivers (I'm talking everything from chipset to Ethernet)

I'm going to buy the VGN-FW550F/B with W7 Home Premium pre-installed. I want to install the Ultimate version after I got my notebook. I already got the CD for Windows 7 Ultimate and stuff. The problem is that Sony only got drivers for Windows 7 Home Premium for the model "VGN-FW550F/B". Can I install those drivers using Windows 7 Ultimate?

I have bought "Acer aspire TravelMate 5730".
I have installed windows xp professional. I want to change my bios setting for Sata mode to "IDE" to "AHCI" for that I have to install AHCI Drivers into win xp but I am not able to install AHCI drivers in win xp.

I'm thinking about formating and installing fresh, I have read the Out-Of-Box guide. But I have a little doubt. After installing OS, which drivers do I need to install. I mean, like there are two drivers available under Graphics for my laptop(HP dv6-1387tx). Similarly, for other categories like Network, there are more than one drivers listed. Well my PC came OEM installed with Vista 32 Bit edition and I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit edition (as i get a student discount).
Looking around the forums and internet in general, I have noticed that on the acer 6920g there seems to always be a problem with drivers such as the CineDash, Realtek, TV tuner, Modem, Card reader, Fingerprint, Webcam, Bluetooth etc.. I have also read that you can fix the launchmanager by running in Vista compatiability mode.
If i do an in-place upgrade (going from vista 32-bit to windows 7 ultimate) will it be fine? Also is there anything I should be cautionous of such as the drivers etc..
I would actually really like to do a clean installation but I'm worried that the keyboard "quick" buttons (such as the internet,bluetooth,mail on the side of keyboard will not work)- can someone please confirm if I did a clean installation, would theese buttons still work?
Also I have two games:GTA IV, Call of Duty 5 , will theese both work on windows 7 (or on compatability).

I recently bought HP compaq 15-s006TU and the wifi doesn't work in windows. The wifi button on the keyboard is always orange. I have tried downloading and installing the wifi and bluetooth drivers from the following links [URL] They install but wifi still doesn't work. I ordered new E6500 that came with Vista on it and I wiped that and have installed XP Pro SP2 on the machine. I have followed the guide on this page and installed everything in the correct order. The only thing that didn't install was the dial-up modem. It errored out and said "No MODEM device was found". Typically on the Latitude laptops I seem to remember installing the modem driver and it taking care of this entry in the device manager, but not this time.
There is a dial-up modem on the laptop and this is the only device that looks to not be installed. There is no webcam, WAN modem, or anything else like that.
Has problem with installing XP onto a E6500? Is the installer for the modem driver just bad or is there possibly something else going on.

I periodically check Dell's site for updated video drivers but they are always sooo old. (Dell's driver-Version 7. something, Intel's-Version 11.something) Intel's site is much more up to date. Anyway, I'll download the Intel drivers and attempt to run the installer. It'll extract all the files but then close and show a message stating that the driver isn't "validated" to run on this computer and that I must get driver updates from my pc maker.
Why are others able to install the drivers, even on other Dell systems? Is it a business notebook thing due to the need for stable system images?

I'm working on this Acer Aspire AS7520-5311 laptop, on Vista 32, with a NVIDIA GeForce 8400M. Trying to tweak some graphic settings last night somehow I guess I deleted the video drivers for the nvidia card. I went into the device manager and deleted all of the display drivers. When it rebooted it tried to install it again. For some odd reason, it installed a "Standard VGA adaptor". So my desktop resolution is back to the former settings but any remotely graphic demanding programs will not run. I've went to Acer's website and nvidias website and cannot find the exact NVIDIA GeForce 8400M driver. I've tried everything listed under the model number on acer's website and it will install, reboot, but when comes back up. It still only shows the same standard vga adaptor.
This did not come with a restore disk for some odd reason!
Now before I just blame Vista, transfer all of my data, erase it, and then put XP on it.
I'm sure If I could somehow find the correct driver for the video card it would help.

I did a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate a month ago and everything is running well. However, I've noticed in Device Manager that there is an unidentified base device which is lacking a driver. Here is the info:
