View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to windows 8, and my laptop worked smoothly, and then randomly after maybe a week of use my webcam is no longer recognized.
I can't find it in device manager to update the driver or pretty much anything! the microphone still works perfectly, but its as if my camera ceased to exist, as if it were not at all connected to my laptop. I tried finding the driver online, but only managed to find the driver for the xps 17z, which I thought would work, but it wouldn't install as it gave me the message, you must have Windows XP SP2 or higher installed.
Originally it's comes with vista, but I format it and installed win 7, after 8 months suddenlly I surprised that the webcam are stopped working, I tried to install from dell support but useless, what shall I do?
It can be work if i reinstall win vista again and by usb flash memory install all the drivers, it will work or not?
Is this problem because of some windows 7 updates? because they are not genuine copies?
my windows vista and windows seven are trial version for 30 days ...
I have just received my new Inspiron 5748 and I cannot find any useful information on how to turn the webcam on. There is no option on the start menu for the webcam, and I've checked the device manager, and indeed, the webcam is there and working properly, according to the Properties. Ran a diagnostic in the Dell Support area, and the cam came on when the diagnostic ran, so I know it's there and working. So how do I turn the darned thing on? All I want is to turn the webcam on!

I upgraded to windows 7 ultimate before which I had windows 7 home premium on which I could use the webcam but now it shows an error when I open cyberlink youcam "Warning, No webcam detected. Try plugging in a webcam into your computer now. If you are using an integrated camera, make sure that it is turned on". I've watched and tried all the steps except for the last step as the cyberlink youcam software doesn't allow me to click the configure settings. What should I do to turn on my webcam?

Therefore, I can't use my Skype video call function. When I had the factory installed OS, Skype video call worked perfectly.
I have been all over the Internet trying to find software - YouCam, Quickplay, SP37849, SP46565, SP38361 and SP 45866 - all to no avail. None of the software would install, except Quickplay (SP38361).
In the Device Manager, under Imaging Devices, there is no webcam driver listed, only my HP 6700 All-in-One printer/scanner. Is there a possibility that only one imaging device can be installed at one time?

View 6 Replies View Relatedi own a dell Inspiron 9400 it did have 2gb 533mhz and scored 4.5 in vista. I have just upgraded to 4gb 667mhz and the score is still 4.5? The BIOS shows 4gb at 667mhz Dual, and in vista only 3.3gb of ram(know about only seeing 3.3gb in vista).
Not that im into the vista scores but is this normal or is something wrong here with my ram or laptop? As it should improve when i done this up grade.

I visited nVidia's website to see whether they had an update; they had none. So, I'm wondering whether I should get this update suggested by Windows Update or ignore it.
My 8 month old "Mini 9" Inspiron 910 shows "operating system not found" on boot-up and bios shows HDD size of 0MB. Fixed shows STEC PATA 16GB-(PM).
I realize re-installing XP is my next bet but I can't boot to USB. maybe the Solid State HD DEAD?
What could be the problem with my screen? I have these vertical lines that are multi-colored!! Has my computer crashed? If so can I get my information off the hard drive, and how much does that normally cost?

I have a screen problem on my Laptop, on start-up it shows a white screen with black lines (Picture below) only happens once every 5-10 start-ups. Only happens for 5-10 Secs & sorts itself out before it boots up.
Other time it happens is when I'm using the internet, the screen just sticks, but then when I move the screen, it stops.

I keep on trying to switch it on but the power button doesn't work but it shows only the single blue light that indicates its charging each time i plug it. I really don't know what could be wrong but its really sad because i have lots of important things on that PC,.....

hp support page for my laptop showed a newer bios available,so i installed it and from then my laptop shows black screen i.e it switches on and keeps blinking capslock twice and 2 sec interval and repeats.i searched the internet and found that twice capslock signifies bios failure.so i thougth of following the win+B method,but the problem here is,when i extracted my bios package sp*****.exe i have 2 *.bin files and i dont know where to paste them on my pendrive.
My Inspiron 5521 warranty has expired a month back and now suddenly my laptop shows a message saying your battery has encountered a permanent damage during startup...The battery bar shows the mesage plugged in , not charging message and when i disconnect the ac power adapter my laptop shuts down...I tried updating my BIOS to A12 but it did not work...What is the problem here..Do Dell companies manufacture products which last only upto the warranty period or what??
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an hp pavillion g6 laptop (Product QE05UA#ABA, Model: g6-1c35dx). For a while its been causing problems, it's been slow, showing viruses, and now it wont start up. I left it on sleep mode last night, once i opened it up today it was turned off. I figured it lost battery which usually doesn't happen, but I turned it on and it shows a blinking screen that comes on and then turns black, over and over. The blinking screen shows "press esc key for startup menu".
Also, the caps lock key blinks once when that screen comes on. I checked the driver in Device Manager and it is ok. I used HP Recovery Manager and reinstalled the Cyberlink software but it is still undetected. Is there some keyboard switch for the camera or something simple that I am missing??

My acer 5100 came with vista and I'm trying to do a fresh install of XP SP2 on it.
After I get past the partitioning part in the install process, it goes on to the "installing windows" stage and shuts off midway. This has been happening a few times and after some googling, reckoned it has to do with the SATA hard drive.
I tried to get on Bios and change the SATA to IDE but I didnt find any modifiable property for the hard drive on BIOS
I'm wondering some of you folks who installed XP on a vista laptop got it done.
A few days before I was going to shipping my Studio 15 off. I looked in the box and low and behold I found the Dell Webcam Center disk that I originally thought that Dell had forgotten to include.
Upon installation I found that the specific version of Dell WC that came with my Studio 15 is not the same one that you find at the downloads center on support.dell.com.
I could never get the downloaded Dell WC to work, even after numerous chats with technical support. No matter how many times I contacted Dell about this, they claimed there is only one version of Dell Webcam Center. Clearly that isn't true .....
