View 3 RepliesI have an Inspiron N7010 laptop( about 3 years old) that came with 4gb RAM. I want to upgrade to 8gb. I have tried 3 different brands of memory
including Dell memory. I have run extensive memory tests( the Dell memory does not fail ). I have the exact memory part number that Dell support
has given me. In ALL cases, after installing the 8gb RAM, the laptop boot and then at some point will simply shutdown ( just like you powered down ).
The system info from the control panel shows that all 8gb is recognized. I have looked for and installed all the bios, chip set, and cpu upgrades from dell.
I have a Dell Inspiron N7010 running Windows 7 a friend did a clean install on my computer after my game a and dell factory restore along with a some other issues continued to give out error message. In doing so he completly wiped the driver software out. So now I can't connect to the internet and my aero transparnce isn't working either. I checked the device manager and under Other Devices were 3 drives a PCI controlle(i belivie) network adaptor and ethernet adopter. I'm not what driver software i should install in order to get it back working or at least the internet back up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently wiped my computer using a DoD wipe program. My computer way really cluttered and it was just easier to wipe and start all over. I also wanted to install a new OS (windows 8). Upon turning it on after the wipe it requests a HDD Password. To my knowledge I never set one. Is there a way around this, specifically, not having to pay for one?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have a Dell Laptop N7010 on windows 7 (bought Oct 2010) that started freezing up and is now giving the "Windows failed to Start" message. We have tried the two options:
Launch Startup Repair (recommended) and Start Windows Normally. Have tried to select each but no luck. The Startup Repair takes awhile but nothing happens and we are right back to this screen. Then, in reading other logs with this problem the suggestion was to run a diagnostics check. So, chose F12 and ran the Preboot System Assessment Build 4124 and then the Boot Diagnostic Utility Partition
The following errors appear:
Error Code 0F00:65D
Msg: Disk - DST Self-test Read Error
& also get
Error Code 0F00:133C
Msg: Disk - No suitable disk media is present
(This one was related to SATA DVD + RW...)
I then tried to select F8 to set the system back to factory settings but do not get anywhere. It seems the only options are F2 or F12.
I needed to reinstall win 7 --after the install the system says no network hardware installed, I went to the dell site on another computer, downloaded ALL the suggested drivers for my Service tag, installed them and still not able to connect to internet, still says no network hardware detected
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a Dell Inspiron R17 n7010. I had some issue with the laptop overheating at times but overall it was working fine and I was happy with it. Three days ago however it seemed my hard drive got corrupted, as I got the error message "Cannot find operating system". I checked cable connection and to restore to factory settings through F8 but nothing worked and it seems the hard drive is broken.
Now I want to get a new hard drive through Dell, but my question is does the hard drive come with Windows, and with which version? When I bought the laptop through Dell two years ago it came with Windows 7 pre-installed, but no DVD/CD (I have the reg key on the back of the laptop). I have the Driver/Utilities DVD though.
I have dell inspiron n7010 and recently have problems with my power. When i press the power button, power lid only blink once and also after that the HDD lid blink once and thats it. No any other signs. I tried without battery only on charger, even changed my charger, but still the same. When i plug in the charger, power lid blink only once but nothing else.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell inspiron n4010 that will not power on, the battery light flashes on for a couple of seconds when I plug the AC power adapter in, and then switches off. The laptop does not respond when I try to power it on.I have tried unplugging the AC power adapter, holding the power button down for 20 seconds and plugging it back in - that did not do the trick either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a year old Inspiron N4010 that as of this morning will not power up. Until that time the charging lights and battery were all indicating the batrery was fully charged and everything was as it should be. This morning when i went to power up there were no lights, the laptop made no sounds....it was dead.
I have checked the power transformer and cord and it has a green light and power. I have taken the battery out and tried to power up. I have taken the battery out and reseeded it. Nothing is working.
I cannot try disabling the touch pad using the key to the right of the F12 key.
Recently, I found that there is some faults with the fan resulting in shutting down randomly. Then, after 2 months that the problem start, the laptop would not turn on although if it is connected to the power. When i press the switch on button, NOTHING would happen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron N7010 was working fine until 2 days ago. I had it playing a movie through the HDMI port to my TV & then the video started to freeze up. Starting the next day, when I tried to start it up, it beeps 8 times & goes to a black screen, then eventually it turns off. I opened it up & re-seated the CMOS battery & checked all the ribbons. Tried holding the "d" key while powering on, the screen cycles through the colors & then goes black & powers off. Tried connecting to 2 different external monitors, could not get a picture on either.

At start up I get no image and 8 long beeps
Where should I start looking?
I am working on a Dell Inspron N7010 and have tried to use the Factory Image, but it seems to be gone.
In the D: drive, I find the Windows OS, in the C Drive I find nothing. All other drives are as they should be. The Factory Image is either deleted or corrupted. How can I get a copy of this ?
I have a Inspiron17R N7010 and when I turn it on the windows start up screen freezes up. I was going to do a system restore but don't know how since windows 7 never finishes loading.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an almost 2-year-old laptop with which I've been having problems for the last week or so. It all started when after hibernating the computer had a blank black screen not responding so I shut it off. After that it seems to boot up only once every 20 or so times. What happens after I press the power button: The laptop starts booting but doesn't get to the dell startup screen, after a while (after booting 3-4 times unsuccessfully) the fans even start spinning but the screen stays black and the hard drive light indicates that the drive isn't working.
LED Lights: The first light turns on, the second light turns on for a second or two (indicating hard drive starting to boot up) but then the light turns off and the computer is still running, but nothing happens. The third light is fine, there is no problem with the battery or the power supply.
I've tried reseating the hard drive, the RAM, removing one stick, then the other etc. and nothing works. The strangest thing is sometimes (very rarely) it does work, so far it booted up 4-5 times (if it gets to the DELL startup screen it's fine), but the rest 85 times it didn't .
I went to get onto my laptop yesterday evening and it wasn't picking up any wifi. I did the trouble shoot and it said to connect to an ethernet cable. This has never happen to me before and I don't know what to do. Today I did a system restore to a few days ago when it was working just fine... nothing happened.. I tried to press the button on the keyboard to turn the wireless adapter on and that didn't work either. I really need this computer at least for a couple more months for my school work.

Last week when i tried to power on my laptop it is not getting started.
I showed it in a nearby harware shop and they said it has board problem.
Will the board gets damaged for just 2 years or is it something else. What to do whether i have to really replace my mother board or could be other reason.

I have an inspiron n4010. I replaced the battery and it worked for a couple of weeks. But now, it won't turn on or stay on if it's not plugged in. And I can't have it plugged in all the time. It says that it's plugged in but not charging.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI start the laptop and I get the black screen with the Dell logo on it. There is a progress bar at the bottom that moves across to the right as the boot up progresses. In the bottom right corner, it shows the option of hitting F2 for Set Up or F12 for Boot Menu. I can access both of these menus. It then progresses to a screen with the Windows logo with the words "Resuming Windows" underneath. Once that completes, I get a black screen!
I was told that I should boot up the laptop in safe mode by hitting F8.....
I can't seem to get this to work.
I am using a Inspiron N4010 Laptop. The laptop is oow. Since 2-3 weeks, when i turn on the laptop, i get the following error :

Press <F1> to resume.
Is this a problem with the CMOS Battery ? Will replacing the CMOS Battery solve the problem ?
