I apologize in advance if there is already a thread dedicated to this issue as I made sure to search around to see whether someone had already started one on this issue.
My question goes out to other Dell 1500 Vostro owners who ended up with a defective card and underwent the painstaking process of replacing their 8600M GT cards:
Have the replacement cards been defective as the stock ones? Are the replacement 8600M GT cards better built to withstand heating? Has Nvidia fixed the silicone issues?
I have a blue dell xps 1330 and I am talking about the top of the laptop when you close the lid, the colored part. It has a large scratch in it and I was wondering if I could get the whole part somewhere online or something. Is this possible? thanks I would like to change it to red too
Like the photography world usualy new camera are biannualy or annualy. How often does HP release new laptops? I'm waiting for a replacement for the dv5t.
I'm talking about the clear plastic filter in front of the actually LCD panel.
I notice that more and more dust particules managed to get in between the plastic filter and the panel.
Right now, it's not a big problem. But you can easily imagine it will become one when, a year or two from now, sizeable amount of dust particules get stuck all over the screen
Does Dell plan on releasing a new 12.1in notebook this summer? I currently have the 700m but I am thinking about something new. I see HP 2133. Its pretty slick but too small and lacks DVD drive. I think 12.1in is the smallest laptop I will buy.
Ok so i have a Dell studio XPS 16. Got it last Summer. Im thinking about getting a cooler/stand for my laptop. I know there are TONS of threads about coolers and ive like read them all. I can't decide between the following Four Coolers.
Zalman NC2000
NXZT Cryo
COOLER MASTER NotePal Infinite
Enermax Aeolus Aluminum Notebook Cooler
Please help me decide between these four. I really don't know about Laptop Coolers and if owners who have the same laptop and any one of these coolers could comment?
I have a Dell XPS m1710. I'm thinking of upgrading my RAm but....how exactly do you go about doing that? Is it the same with notebooks or would i have to send it back to the manufacturer?
I didn't order any bluetooth with my 1645, but I regret that :P Now I have BT in my old lappy (Lenovo 3000 N200-0769). Would it be possible to move the BT card from the Lenovo to my 1645 without any software issues? Hardware placement should be no problem...
I haven't found much info about this notebook on this forum
These are the specs I'm buying: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5900 Windows Vista® Home Premium Glossy, widescreen 15.4 inch display (1280x800) 8X Slot Load CD / DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive) 2GB2 Shared Dual Channel DDR2 250GB4 SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM) 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 Dell 1397 Wireless-G Card .....
I know you have a forum for advice on what notebook to buy, but I know what models I like. I like the mini 9 but am thinking of waiting until the mini 10 is avaible. And the other I like is either the Inspiron 1535 or the Studio 15.
I will use it primarily for surfing the net and writing in Word or Open Office. I want it to be portable, but it doesn't have to be ultra portable, though that is a big draw of the mini series...
I think I prefer XP but hubby has Vista and I think I could learn to live with that. We've already got a Inspiron 530 desktop and he loves it. The thing that I think I might want, is to listen to music while I write and that makes the netbook not work out so well, BUT I have a cool Nextar MP3 player that works great for me and holds most of my music already set up, so I could live with that .....
I was wondering if there are people in the UK who have bought their Dell notebooks either from dell.com and posted to the UK OR delivered to US Address and then brought to the UK
It literally burns my left leg! Seeing as how I want to have kids in the near future, I figured I should get a notebook that runs cooler!
My wife's XPS M1330 is much cooler and has a beautiful LED screen. Can someone recommend one of the Dell laptops with the best looking screen in relation to colors/brightness
I'm having difficulty with the issue here and am wondering how I go about getting Dell to do a complete notebook replacement?
We're going to try a motherboard replacement first but I'm not hopeful that this system is possible to fix after reading that thread,
the cause of the issue is sporadic and not really traceable. Should I just tell Dell this is what I believe needs to be done about it with my technical expertise and after all the research and testing I've done?
I chose to get me Dell studio 15, and i need some help with recommanded components.
im going to get the best processor they offer (T9300), 4gb shared memory.
i need ur advice if i should get 200gb 7200 rpm or stay with the 320gb 5400?
i heard that 7200 rpm make the computer to get hot real fast.
what about the display? should i stay with the glossy 12800X800 or upgrade to the hi def screen ? im not going to watch movies on my laptop, so what do you think ?
do you know if i have hdmi out on the computer ?
what about wireless card? is the 1510 N is better ? should i get it ?
what is the back lit keyboard option? is it practical ?
i would like to hear any reccomendation you have since im going to order the notebook in the next few days.
dell decided to replace my notebook from my sig, so I will get a new one. But they're going to replace it with the same item... Can't I call back tomorrow and ask dell to replace it with another system?
I have a new XPS 1640 Dell notebook with ATI Mobility RADEON M96XT 1GB video.
I am using an external 24 in (1920 x 1200 res.) monitor through VGA port.
The notebook has additional HDMI and DisplayPort.
I'd like to know if it is possible to connect a second external monitor. It would be 17 in (1280 x 1024) used as extended desktop, not mirrored. The monitor has DVI port as well as VGA.
If it is possible, which cable should I use? I assume DisplayPort might be better than HDMI. Is there a such cable that converts DisplayPort to DVI?
I had to replace the DC jack in my Inspiron 9300 and it appears to work correctly. Plug a battery in and it charges just fine. However when I turn the computer on it does not POST (or beep in any way at all). I turn on the power, the fans spin up, the HDD spins up, and then about 5 seconds later it all just shuts down. Ive tried taking the HDD and the RAM out to try and get some sort of beep code and i get nothing.
I'm looking to purchase a notebook cooler (off of newegg.com or somewhere like that) to cool down my Nvidia 8600M.
I'm looking for something around $50 USD but I don't mind spending more.
Anyone with any luck in regards to a particular cooler that they have used to keep their temperatures down? I want something that will work well with my laptop specifically.
I also wanted to note that I have a 9 cell battery on my laptop and not the 6 cell (if that makes a difference).
Im looking to buy a Western Digital My Book Studio Edition 2TB External Hard Drive -which can connect via USB, Firewire 400 or 800, or eSata.
Ive chosen this drive since I want to enable the RAID 1 (Mirroring) for automatic backup, which will be priceless for my photos/videos of my children!
If I purchase the drive and also purchase a eSata express card for my Latitude D620, will the transfer speeds be faster then USB2 - or will the fact that the eSata connection is through a express card, rather then being internal, hinder the speed ....
I understand the basic differences between the two technologies, but I'd like to know how the differences relate specifically to the 1530.
Right now, my debate is : 1900x1200 LCD vs. 1440x900 LED.
I like the idea of having an LED screen, specifically for lower power consumption, quicker "on-time", and thinner frame. However, I have to sacrifice by getting a lower resolution screen. On the 1530, does the thinness of the LED screen translate into an overall thinner notebook? It's important to note, that the lower power consumption of the LED isn't much of realistic issue for me, because I'm plugged into a socket 99% of the time. I simply like the idea of being more environmentally friendly.
