View 10 Replies View RelatedDuring recent travel I have noticed that while watching videos on fullscreen with VLC Player or Media Player Classic on the laptops own monitor, there seems to be a weird tearing-like effect on the screen.
That "problem" however does not exist with Windows Media Player, or on an external monitor (as at home).
Any ideas what might cause this? I'm running Windows XP SP3 with all the recent updates and my video card is GF 7900 GTX 512MB.
i can't access the HP's online ho to dissembel video section no more. i had taken apart my DV9500CTO notebook to replace the thermal paste with AS5, and now i want to replace it again with IC7D thermal paste, and i can't seem to find the website that had all the step by step videos on how to dissember the whole laptop. i read through the forums and this link is what most of them are reffering to [url] but i'm not sure if this was the link or not... the link that i used last time was also from HP as well, but it never asked me for no log in or anything. i would click on the link and it just took me to place where i would go find my laptop and it would have small videos on it on how to dissember each part. can some one please show me the way? i know the user manuel kind of shows you how to do it, i've read it, and i beleve the videos are much better, as i can open my laptop up just like in the videos.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIntel has issued a notification to AMD stating that their x86 license expires in 60 days. That itself isn't news to Apple seeing as they don't use any AMD x86 CPU or AMD anything really. Where it gets a tad interesting is the fact that AMD owns the x64 extension to x86 (Intel/ EMT64 is a licensed version of AMD64) . If I am not mistaken Snow Leopard is supposed to be native 64 bit of course running on Intel CPU's. If Intel goes through with their threat and AMD plays the same card with x64 could we see Intel with the capacity to only produce 32-bit CPU and AMD completely out of the market until the legal squabble is settled in court?
Correct me anywhere I am wrong but I think Apple has a very big stake in this upcoming legal battle.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI placed and order on June 16 2009 for the new Dell Studio 14z Laptop.... The estimated delivery date was July 22, 2009 (). I called to find out about the hold up and the rep put me on hold told me it was in production. This went on for 3 days.
I decided to cancel the order but when I called Dell they tell me the odrder was shipped. I check website and it still says in production. Now I am pssed and I don't want the Studio 14z I purchased a Mac Book from the local APPLe store........
I paid for the Dell with my dell preferred account ...... can I just refuse the delivery and get my money back or should I accecpt the delveiry and then call dell to ship it back. Also how wwould that affect my dell preferred account. How long will it take to get credited back to the account.

When I do FN + F5, I get the Lenovo Wireless Radio menu, but it only lists Airplane Mode (off) and 802.11 Wireless (on).

I have check BIOS security settings for I/O devices and Bluetooth is enabled. Â However I cannot find any references to Bluetooth under Device Manager ->Network Adaptors.

I just recently placed an order for a Studio 1737 (replacing an Inspiron E1705). It comes with a 1 year warranty.
I'm debating whether it's worth spending $200+ to upgrade to a Dell 3 year warranty or should I get a 3 year Square Trade Warranty for less than $150 (I can get one for around $120 after a coupon)?
I was trying to configure a very powerful system (Precision) but didn't want the crappy widescreen monitor, need ultrasharp as it's for graphics work, but there is no option to deselect or select ultrasharp.
Another annoyance was that for some reason it wouldn't let me select a second drive - no incompatibilty message, nothing.
I'm thinking of buying the SXPS 16 from Dell Hong Kong as my bro lives there and he should be able to bring it down within the next two months. Unfortunately the only screen available is:

Does anyone know the exact resolution of this. I've heard amazing things about the screen but I think this is has less resolution and not RGB?

I'm interested in buying a good portable notebook and the E4300 is one of the main contenders because of the solid build, good batterly life and its weight and size
So I've been reading many mixed reviews about the latitude e4300 where many people thought it didn't live up to what you would expect from a premium business notebook with a premium price.
So I have been looking into something bigger than a 17' (yes i know im getting greedy as far as size) However Im not sure of the quality, performance and other things and was wondering if you guys could fill in the gaps.
Will be used for
-Light gaming, but i definately want a low 'response time'
-Watching movies
-Browsing internet
My main questions are.
-what is a good 'response time'?
Ive seen 2ms, 5ms as the lowest times and im guessing these times are more than reasonable for playin a few games.
-Will a 7900GS be strong enough to handle displaying a resolution of say 1600x1200 or 1920x1200 and play a game or two w/o any issues?

Dell sent me a nice coupon for dell outlet and I can get a refurb dell mini 9 with the following specs for $191. Kind of an impulse buy if I get it but i've been wanting a netbook for a while.
Specs: Inspiron Mini 910
Intel Atom 1.6
1 GB ram
8 GB solid state drive.
Ubuntu loaded .....
So I see lots of refurb'd Studio XPS 16s on ebay at very competitive prices (like a couple of hundred $ off dell.com).
The ones I am looking at includ warranty transferred to buyer - seller has 100% (or near) feedback.
I want to replace my current hard drive which is 7200rpm 500gb seagate with SSD. Problem is on vista scoring chart there is either lower ranked ones or high ranked ones. obviously i want something higher ranked that my current Hard drive score of 5.9

Im thinking on buying a Vostro 3300 from the Dell website.
Seems as a good lappy for editing text and watching some videos and movies.

I am intending to buy a Vostro 1320, I will use it for text editing, Internet surfing, occassional photoediting, so I don't have high hardware demands only that computer works smoothly.
There are some things which I dont understand:
1) they offer processors with fsb 800 Mhz and fsb 1066 Mhz, but the RAM memory works on 800 Mhz
I am prepared to pay for little bit better processor but do I have advantage of better CPU when I have slower Ram ?
2) they have also half-height and full-height wireless card,
is it some particular advantage with half-height ?
3) is it worth to buy 256 MB Nvidia instead of onboard Intel X4500MHD graphics card, and as I said my demands on graphics are not so high ?
Some guy is selling an E6400 for $750 with 3 year warranty left. It's $300 cheaper than a simliar configuration brand new.
What things should I check for? this will be my first laptop. Of course i'll check to make sure all the parts work, test everything out.
anyway to test if there are overheating issues? build quality issues? can i see if the seller exchanged any parts?
He says he has a service # that i can check with Dell, not sure what this is though.
