View 10 Repliesi'm having major heat problems with my DV4 1220US, If I let my CPU use 100% it shoots up to 80+c on Idle, 105c Under load. The HDD is usually over 55c idle, 65+ under load.
It's ridiculous considering how cool it is in my apartment, and how I balance the laptop on my right leg, with the whole left side uncovered and allowed to freely vent air.
I made a power profile that locks the CPU at 75% this helps majorly, however the Default "low power" setting @ 50% is impossible to use this computer with.
Is this because AMD processors suck? Could that be why the C2D version of this laptop with identical specs costs $200 more?
I tried to undervolt it with RMClock but it wouldn't let me change anything. There is supposed to be an advanced tab for messing with the voltage but it wasn't there. I was using the latest version of the program, and had all my drivers up to date with a super fresh install of Vista.
Is there anything special I need to do to get the program to work with a Turion X2 RM-72?
Im going to undervolt my laptop soon and i need some tips or recommended settings people have used ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is interesting... a friend of mine just tried to order the SXPS with the i7-820 processor and got denied by Dell. Apparently, the 1645 has been fully discontinued, and Dell will no longer be placing the i7-820 processor in any SXPS form factor. They quoted that due to hardware and power issues as the reason behind discontinuing the 1645 (and replacing it with the 1647) and killing i7-820 support. The sales rep said the only offering will be the Studio series for the i7-820.
As a 1645 owner with the i7-820, this is kinda scary that this laptop has been discontinued this quickly as well as the offering of the 820 series chip. We ended up calling a second time, and another sales rep confirmed the same story.
Anyone get similar information from Dell on this? I'm also wondering if this is a "Dell Canada" thing...
ive done JUANLU's iso thing and downloaded driver 84.69 from laptopvideo2go (are there better drivers?)and the INF file and installed it all. now how do i actually over clock?

View 5 Replies View Relateddon't do this, unless you have the copper mod.
But I overclocked from 400/600 to 525/900, and the difference in performance was huge!
3DMark06 before: 1,700'ish
after: 2,077 !
RTHDRIBL 640 x 480 window before: ~ 50 fps
after: ~ 70 fps
----> around 40% increase!
W.E.I.: Aero/Gaming Graphics before: 4.1 / 4.7
after: 4.8 / 5.2
The good news is that my load temp has only increased a few degrees:

What would you do?
I just want to keep a cool system....
i recently upgraded my 1730 with a x7900 cpu.. when i overclock this cpu to 3.4ghz, as soon as the system reboots when exxiting the bios the fan speeds go to max speed and are very loud. when i get to the desktop i cant even turn the fans down or off using fangui.. does anybody else have this issue and is this the bios making the fans go full blast.. this is hard to use the lappy at 3.4 when the fans are blasting full throttle all the time..

I have try whit SetFPS, i have find the proper chip on my Notebook, but when i try to move the frequencies they return to original valor.
So do you over clock? I dont see the point too much unless your playing games though I could be wrong. And as fast as OSX is i see even less of a reason.

By performing this overclock you risk permanently damage (not reversible) your graphic card of your laptop and it's components, the motherboard and or other components in the laptop.
Your warranty on your system does not cover overclocking. Remember that the GPU is soldered onto the motherboard and can't be replaced yourself (a new motherboard is required). Dell laptop motherboards are very expensive ........
