Dell :: What Display - WUXGA Or WXGA+ LED
Dec 16, 2008Looking at the Studio 15. I've had 15" Dells in the past and always got 1680x1050. Thought it was a great resolution. Now they have 1920x1200 or 1440 x whatever but LED.

wxga
wxga+
wuxga
what is better to get and what is brighter?
I currently have an Inspiron 1720 with WUXGA (1920x1200) display. I'm looking at the Studio 17, which comes with either WXGA+ (1440x900) CCFL or WLED, or WUXGA+ (1920x1200) CCFL
View 7 Replies View Relatedi'm looking to upgrade the screen of my E1705/9400 from WXGA (1440x900) to WUXGA (1920x1200).
My current screen model is a LG Phillips (LPL0000).
I've found an inspiron 9400 compatible: Samsung WUXGA (LTN170WU-L02)
But i'm not sure if i can upgrade screen from differents manufacturer easy like that.
I've already look over the net but didn't found same situation.
If someone knows something about that kind of upgrade...
I've been waiting 4 weeks or my system exchange through 1 cancellation and and 20+ calls to get it straightened out, I finally found out mine is shipping today.
They actually gave me a pretty decked out 1737, but it only has a WXGA+... I had spoke with the tech that took my requirements and told him my only concerns were discrete video and wuxga screen.
He told me that most likely i would get a 1737 but they only had WXGA+ and I told him that not acceptable and he asked what about studio xps 16's 1080p display which I agreed to
i wanna configuration new dell laptop . i have 2 types of the screen .
1 - 13.3 inch WXGA Anti-Glare Display
2 - 13.3 inch UltraSharp™ WXGA LCD Display w/TrueLife
the price is the same , so which one is better ?? and why??
I've decided to purchase an HP 6930p. I will mainly be using it for business - Word, Outlook, the Internet, Excel etc. I won't be playing many games on it (if any) or be doing any video editing. I have a 24" display, which I can use for any graphics work (Photoshop etc). I'll be using the laptop about 50% of the time away from the office - at libraries, coffee shops, or other offices/meeting rooms.
I'm trying to decide which resolution to get - the WXGA or WXGA+. I know a lot of people on these forums recommend the higher res screens; however, I imagine a lot may use their systems for games, video editing, CAD, web work etc. I'll be doing intensive office work. For a 14" business machine, what is the best resolution?
Also, if anyone happens to be a 6930p user, is there any difference in brightness between the two screens? That could be a factor.
Have you guys found any ways of improving the display quality of the E6400 WXGA+ LED backlit screen? I've noticed that compared to my Lenovo 19 inch widescreen LCD monitor, the colors are less rich, the blacks seem less deep (almost a bit washed out)
View 8 Replies View Relatedwhether the optional WUXGA (1920x1200) display is an LCD or LED? I know the base/standard WXGA (1280x800) is an LCD and the WXGA+ (1440x900) is an LED, which explains why it's a $125 upgrade.
View 10 Replies View RelatedThe CCFL WUXGA screen belongs to a precision M90 and is almost 3 years old. Keep that in mind for this review.
The RGBLED is way brighter than the CCFL; at nightime, I would only use the minimum brightness setting.........................
Not sure whether to get WXGA or WXGA+ display. If I get a WXGA+ display, will I be able to set the graphics resolution to 1280x800 and if yes, will the display work as good as i have WXGA display.
Also, shall I go with discrete or integrated graphics with this laptop? Does having discrete graphic card causes more heat as compared to the integrated one. I Wont be playing much games on this.
I am planning to buy dell E6400 (14.1 inch display).

Is there any reason i should NOT get the WXGA+ screen as opposed to the WXGA LED screen?
Ive seen a few at the outlet and think ill get it. seems like it should theoretically be nicer.
Just over a week ago there there was an option for WXGA+ display (1440x900) WLED. I was on the verge of buying but I held out for a coupon which I got next day. Problem was the next day the WXGA+ was no longer an option.
I am left with the choice of base WXGA WLED (1280 x 800), the CCFL version of that or WUXGA+ CCFL (1920x1200) @ £100 more. That is too high for me (resolution & maybe price). I really wanted the WXGA+ WLED and am pissed off it has gone
Anyone with knowledge of how dell works have any ideas why they would not be offering it any more or any ideas if it might come back?
Could you tell me the model numbers for the WXGA+ screens?
I know there's a LG and a Samsung one, right? Which one is the better of the two and what are the differences?
I found a shop which might be able to get me a screen cheap but i have to give them specific info on which panel i need.
what do you think about this kind of backlight bleedeng of my screen? Should I be worry about it?
in fact in real use the bleedeng is something between two pics, depending of light around
On the Dell Outlet all E6400 models are listed as LED including the WXGA (1280X800) Can anyone confirm they have a WXGA (1280X800) that is actually LED not CCFL? CCFL is not even listed as an option when configuring a new E6400.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a new screen - I saw an out fit on ebay that lists the dell inspiron 1300, 1525 and 1505 screen as one and the same.
So I start to hunt and I land here, which links to here which linked me to here:
That outfit's
page lists them all with identical specs and there's like 30!: so my question is, aside form those that are matte vs the glossy are they all the exact same physical dimensions and definitely interchangeable?
Problem resolved
View 3 Replies View Relatedafter reading some post about the better display for the WXGA+ on the M4400, I could hardly belief that someone that only saw the Samsung screen claims the LG screen is the worse one. In the past the LG screen were the better ones. Even in the other notebooks of the E-Series the LGs are the better screens, so I went and searched someone with the a M4400 but a different screen manufacturer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedDell only offer the 1080p (WUXGA+) screen(s) in the country I am in. I am planning to get the 15.6'' one. the high
I think I will have to find a place where I can have a look on a notebook with that screen, and see if I can handle it. Right now I am very sceptical. I just can't believe that Dell do not offer the 720p screen when I am finally ready to take the plunge.
Is there anyone here that can actually use WUXGA+ on 15.6-16'' without having to resort to changing DPI, font size or zooming?
There is now an RGB LED option available for the M4400 for $299. I'd love to hear how this screen performs in real life.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm negotiating with an EPP CSR for a m4400; and he says his system is giving an incompatibility error with 64bit OS and WUXGA screen; anyone else have the same problem ?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI met a guy who had a e1705 with the 1440 by 900 LCD with Xbrite, and I must say that I felt it was a great looking LCD. As a gamer I can't help but feel that my games would perform better along with my 7950 GTX with a smaller native resolution. And it wouldn't bother me because it still has the Gloss and Xbrite like features.
I was wondering if someone out there knew what type of gains and losses I'm looking at overall. I'm seriously considering changing out my LCD on my M1710.
But.... My blu Ray's wont' work will they? Well they won't play at 1080 anymore right?
The hardware id is SEC5443....so it's the Samsung panel. Can anyone tell me the hardware id of the LG 2CCFL WUXGA 15,4" so i can ask Dell to replace it for that?
It's actually weird that of the two possibilities for the the panels on each type
WXGA+ WLED ...samsung has the better one
WUXGA 2CCFL....LG has the better one?
is this right? If not i'm going to try to have it replaced with the RGB LED when it's available
I'm thinking about buying a M4400 with WUXGA 2CCFL screen.
I'm a web developer, so I need "space" on the screen for running programs as Eclipse, etc... However I'm a bit worried for if the fonts (reading text, typing code...) are very small.
I read that the Vista DPI scaling engine is really good and can solve this issue.
Could anyone attach some screen captures with 96 dpi (default) and 120 dpi, using Vista DPI scaling?
discussion on the RGB WUXGA screen but nothing definitive. This display is the main reason I am interested in the M4400 over the W500. Can anyone comment on the quality of this display? Is it bright, good contrast, ect? Also, the Dell online site says it is a "TRUELIFE" which I believe means it is a glossy screen. Do they offer a non glossy screen over the phone?
My other questions are a bit more minor:
Does this laptop use the Centrino 2 G45 chipset? I ask because the Dell's don't have DDR3 memory which I thought was a requirement for Centrino 2 chipsets?
What is the size of the HDD slot? The Dell configurator allows for 2 HDD's. Does this mean there are 2 HDD slots or is it using the DVD slot for the 2nd HDD?
Does this laptop do well with SDD's? Specifically Intel's speedy SSD's? I know the Lenovo's cannot use the full speed of the SSD because Lenovo slowed down the SATA port for battery life.
Is the keyboard and trackpoint good quality? I know Dell consumer laptops have horrible keyboards. Does this compare well to Lenovo keyboards?
How is the overall build quality? I know it is a magnesium structure. I am mostly concerned with how stiff the screen is? I hate screens that wobble around.
Is there anything else I should know about this laptop?
This is what I am looking at:
Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.4Ghz / 1066Mhz FSB / 3MB L2)

I will add my own memory and hard drive and upgrade the OS to Vista Ultimate using my schools free upgrade.
I have an xps2 that has gone thru about 5 screens over its extended warranty (all vertical lines) now 1 month out of warranty the latest replacement is getting lines.
how to get dell to replace it or is it just sop to just replace with defective parts til the warranty runs out?
I moved my WUXGA 9300 screen to my new M90. It works okay and looks gorgeous, but it's 'off' position is solid white. Meaning when the screen turns 'off' it goes to solid white.
Anyone know why this is happening or what I could do?
I'm running the A08 Dell BIOS and I have a Quadro FX 1500m.
I am a Thinkpad user but extremely interested in the Dell M4400 and M6400 because of their seemingly better screens. I would love to get details on these screen, most importantly are the IPS ("FlexView")?
Questions:
1. What does "Edge To Edge" mean?
2. What does "RGB" mean?
3. Are any of these screens IPS "FlexView"?
