I've decided to purchase an HP 6930p. I will mainly be using it for business - Word, Outlook, the Internet, Excel etc. I won't be playing many games on it (if any) or be doing any video editing. I have a 24" display, which I can use for any graphics work (Photoshop etc). I'll be using the laptop about 50% of the time away from the office - at libraries, coffee shops, or other offices/meeting rooms.
I'm trying to decide which resolution to get - the WXGA or WXGA+. I know a lot of people on these forums recommend the higher res screens; however, I imagine a lot may use their systems for games, video editing, CAD, web work etc. I'll be doing intensive office work. For a 14" business machine, what is the best resolution?
Also, if anyone happens to be a 6930p user, is there any difference in brightness between the two screens? That could be a factor.

Not sure whether to get WXGA or WXGA+ display. If I get a WXGA+ display, will I be able to set the graphics resolution to 1280x800 and if yes, will the display work as good as i have WXGA display.
Also, shall I go with discrete or integrated graphics with this laptop? Does having discrete graphic card causes more heat as compared to the integrated one. I Wont be playing much games on this.

is it possible to remove the horrible glare? I found an anti-glare screen protector on ebay.
Has anyone ever had experience with any these? I really would like to lower the glare, because it's hard to use out of the house..

I have a dv5t and as the weather gets nicer here in New England, I am opening the windows and this glare is driving me crazy. I searched the forum and saw a few questions about adding a film or something to prevent glare, but didn't see any suggestions. I'm sure others have been down this path?

I am ordering a mbp and have yet to experience the glossy vs. antiglare in person. The only thing I have to compare is last years Sony Z. It has a lovely screen which doesn't have much of a gloss to it, so I can only assume it is what you would consider an antiglare or matte screen (I believe the quality may be better, but that isnt my concern at this point). What I'm wondering is if the matte appearance of the two is comparable or of the mpb screen is totally different...

Just over a week ago there there was an option for WXGA+ display (1440x900) WLED. I was on the verge of buying but I held out for a coupon which I got next day. Problem was the next day the WXGA+ was no longer an option.
I am left with the choice of base WXGA WLED (1280 x 800), the CCFL version of that or WUXGA+ CCFL (1920x1200) @ £100 more. That is too high for me (resolution & maybe price). I really wanted the WXGA+ WLED and am pissed off it has gone
Anyone with knowledge of how dell works have any ideas why they would not be offering it any more or any ideas if it might come back?

Could you tell me the model numbers for the WXGA+ screens?
I know there's a LG and a Samsung one, right? Which one is the better of the two and what are the differences?
I found a shop which might be able to get me a screen cheap but i have to give them specific info on which panel i need.

Looking at the Studio 15. I've had 15" Dells in the past and always got 1680x1050. Thought it was a great resolution. Now they have 1920x1200 or 1440 x whatever but LED.

On the Dell Outlet all E6400 models are listed as LED including the WXGA (1280X800) Can anyone confirm they have a WXGA (1280X800) that is actually LED not CCFL? CCFL is not even listed as an option when configuring a new E6400.

I'm looking for a new screen - I saw an out fit on ebay that lists the dell inspiron 1300, 1525 and 1505 screen as one and the same.
So I start to hunt and I land here, which links to here which linked me to here:
That outfit's
page lists them all with identical specs and there's like 30!: so my question is, aside form those that are matte vs the glossy are they all the exact same physical dimensions and definitely interchangeable?

Have you guys found any ways of improving the display quality of the E6400 WXGA+ LED backlit screen? I've noticed that compared to my Lenovo 19 inch widescreen LCD monitor, the colors are less rich, the blacks seem less deep (almost a bit washed out)

after reading some post about the better display for the WXGA+ on the M4400, I could hardly belief that someone that only saw the Samsung screen claims the LG screen is the worse one. In the past the LG screen were the better ones. Even in the other notebooks of the E-Series the LGs are the better screens, so I went and searched someone with the a M4400 but a different screen manufacturer.

i'm looking to upgrade the screen of my E1705/9400 from WXGA (1440x900) to WUXGA (1920x1200).
My current screen model is a LG Phillips (LPL0000).
I've found an inspiron 9400 compatible: Samsung WUXGA (LTN170WU-L02)
But i'm not sure if i can upgrade screen from differents manufacturer easy like that.
I've already look over the net but didn't found same situation.
If someone knows something about that kind of upgrade...

I've been waiting 4 weeks or my system exchange through 1 cancellation and and 20+ calls to get it straightened out, I finally found out mine is shipping today.
They actually gave me a pretty decked out 1737, but it only has a WXGA+... I had spoke with the tech that took my requirements and told him my only concerns were discrete video and wuxga screen.
He told me that most likely i would get a 1737 but they only had WXGA+ and I told him that not acceptable and he asked what about studio xps 16's 1080p display which I agreed to

I had a chance to stop by at apple store today, and compared the anti glare screens on both 15 inch and 17 inch models. To my surprise, the 15 inch one was much brighter than 17 inch one. I made sure that both had max brightness settings, and it was clear that 15 inch one was superior. maybe this 17 inch display model was defect? anyone has opposite experience? (btw, I hate seeing myself and losing focus because of reflective glassy screens)

We have a few of these laptops at our workplace.. in all cases i ordered them with the Infinity widescreen option..
I've noticed that on a black screen, there is alot of reflection/glare, compared to say the older zd8000 series..
I'm guessing when sitting outside with these, it could be quite hard to see.. unless they sell some kind of "hood" for laptops (?)...
Has anyone else noticed this..
Is it only with the infinity display.. is the default screen better.. anyone know what the difference is b/w standard and infinity.

I have a Dell Ultrasharp 1707FP. It is connected via DVI. I was looking at the on screen options, and i can only adjust the brightness.
My whites looked kinda yellow, and the whole screen did not really look that bright. but it still looked good, as i was very happy with it.
So i adjusted the brightness from 75 to 90, and it looks alot better, as now the whites are white and colors are also bright yet the dark colors are still dark.

I'm considering buying a Dell e6400 or Dell e6500. I'd prefer the I'd prefer a 15.4' screen. However, if I get that I feel like I probably should get a higher res than the basic 1280 x 800. Ideally I want 1440 x 900.
The problem is Dell only seems to offer the higher resolution in a glossy screen on either model (at least in Canada) - "UltraSharp™ Wide WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Display-Brushed Metal Black". I spoke to Dell and they said it's something in b/w an anti-glare screen and a consumer glossy screen, but I'm not sure what to make of that.
I'm wondering if anyone has this type of screen and can tell me what their experience has been? How glossy is it?
I mainly will use my laptop for writing and office work - in coffee shops, offices or the library - so I don't like have a screen that is reflective. I much prefer an anti-glare screen. I've thought about just buying the e6400 with the anti-glare 1280x800 LED screen, but like I say, would prefer to get a bigger screen if possible, so wanted to see how glossy these screens really are.

Anyone with this WUXGA (1920x1200) LCD, do you notice darker spots on the bottom left and right corners of the screen? Specifically over the Start button and the clock. Make sure there is a lighter screen in the background to notice it more distinctly. This is my second Samsung screen with this issue. Does LG make a WUXGA LCD?
Also, have any of you had the rubber bumpers for the LCD on the palm rest come off. My left one came off and will not stay on. What happens is you tend to run your hand over it while typing, causing it to snap off. In order to get a new rubber piece, DELL needed to send me a whole new palm rest with speakers and fingerprint reader included to install.
So far I like this Notebook, however it should have went through more tests (drivers especially) before releasing it to the public.

I am about to take delivery of a new M4400 with all the bells and whistles, running vista ultimate 64, and plan to upgrade to Win 7 in the near future.
My faithful Latitude D600 circa 2003 has been running on AVG free edition and without significant issues, and also I am using Zone alarm as the firewall.
I am not certain you can get these in 64 bit, or even if they are the better solutions these days, so looking for alternatives.
