in fact in real use the bleedeng is something between two pics, depending of light around

Jun 18, 2009I've decided to purchase an HP 6930p. I will mainly be using it for business - Word, Outlook, the Internet, Excel etc. I won't be playing many games on it (if any) or be doing any video editing. I have a 24" display, which I can use for any graphics work (Photoshop etc). I'll be using the laptop about 50% of the time away from the office - at libraries, coffee shops, or other offices/meeting rooms.
I'm trying to decide which resolution to get - the WXGA or WXGA+. I know a lot of people on these forums recommend the higher res screens; however, I imagine a lot may use their systems for games, video editing, CAD, web work etc. I'll be doing intensive office work. For a 14" business machine, what is the best resolution?
Also, if anyone happens to be a 6930p user, is there any difference in brightness between the two screens? That could be a factor.

Aug 18, 2009Not sure whether to get WXGA or WXGA+ display. If I get a WXGA+ display, will I be able to set the graphics resolution to 1280x800 and if yes, will the display work as good as i have WXGA display.
Also, shall I go with discrete or integrated graphics with this laptop? Does having discrete graphic card causes more heat as compared to the integrated one. I Wont be playing much games on this.

Oct 7, 2008after reading some post about the better display for the WXGA+ on the M4400, I could hardly belief that someone that only saw the Samsung screen claims the LG screen is the worse one. In the past the LG screen were the better ones. Even in the other notebooks of the E-Series the LGs are the better screens, so I went and searched someone with the a M4400 but a different screen manufacturer.

Sep 25, 2009I've been waiting 4 weeks or my system exchange through 1 cancellation and and 20+ calls to get it straightened out, I finally found out mine is shipping today.
They actually gave me a pretty decked out 1737, but it only has a WXGA+... I had spoke with the tech that took my requirements and told him my only concerns were discrete video and wuxga screen.
He told me that most likely i would get a 1737 but they only had WXGA+ and I told him that not acceptable and he asked what about studio xps 16's 1080p display which I agreed to

Dec 27, 2008I am considering purchasing an XPS 1530 for both gaming and business use/travel and am having a hard time deciding which screen to purchase? I do play various simulation games and know that the 8600gt gpu is a low/mid level card that would run games and look better at lower native screen resolutions (if not now, then within the next year or two.) I am planning to keep this computer for about 3-4 years. On the other hand, I do like having more information fit unto a screen for web browsing and general typing work.
Should I go with the 1440x900 LCD/LED screen or stay with the lower 1280x800 screen?

May 2, 2009I bought my XPS1530 about a year ago. I am impressed with it, i hadnt used a laptop before and now i have tried a few different ones i have decided that the 1280x800 screen could be improved to a bigger resolution.
Is it possible to just change the display to a bigger one? or do i need other bits and pieces? The mobo was replaced last week due to a glitchy gfx issue .....

Mar 22, 2009After considering the sxps 16 I am just about to order a 1530 but am not sure what is the best screen option here in the UK (UK does not offer LED). These are my options:

I will be using the laptop for design and occasional video editing & games.
I think the 1920*1200 will cause eye strain but what do you guys think?

Mar 31, 2009I have XPS 1530 (red). I had made some changes to NVidia settings (video settings) and was able to view the movies full screen.
But after some days its not working. I checked the changes i made; its still the same, but movies are not viewed full screen.

Apr 23, 2009Just over a week ago there there was an option for WXGA+ display (1440x900) WLED. I was on the verge of buying but I held out for a coupon which I got next day. Problem was the next day the WXGA+ was no longer an option.
I am left with the choice of base WXGA WLED (1280 x 800), the CCFL version of that or WUXGA+ CCFL (1920x1200) @ £100 more. That is too high for me (resolution & maybe price). I really wanted the WXGA+ WLED and am pissed off it has gone
Anyone with knowledge of how dell works have any ideas why they would not be offering it any more or any ideas if it might come back?

Dec 16, 2008Looking at the Studio 15. I've had 15" Dells in the past and always got 1680x1050. Thought it was a great resolution. Now they have 1920x1200 or 1440 x whatever but LED.

My current screen model is a LG Phillips (LPL0000).
I've found an inspiron 9400 compatible: Samsung WUXGA (LTN170WU-L02)
But i'm not sure if i can upgrade screen from differents manufacturer easy like that.
I've already look over the net but didn't found same situation.
If someone knows something about that kind of upgrade...
Dell :: New XPS 1530
Oct 12, 2008Have not had a laptop for a while and when I did get them, I would not hang on to them for long as I never had the need for them. However, my new job will require the use of one. Nice part - they are paying for it.
Ordered the 1530 a few days ago, loaded. Maxed everything out and also opted for the Solid State hard drive. Hopefully it works as advertised.
I do have just a few questions -
1 - Why did Dell pull the higher resolution panels from the options? Only had the option of 1440?
2 - Is Dell still including all the standard XPS goodies you normally get? The case, cd holder, ear buds.. etc etc or have they gotten cheap and no longer do that? Would suck if they don't.
3 - Lastly, I have read about some issues with the Nvidia GPU. I have also read that Nvidia has rectified this issue. Is that the case with newly built/shipping XPS systems?

Oct 7, 2008After 10 days of using my new XPS 1530, I will give it a 8 of 10 rating.
This is a great laptop. Looks great with a solid build. Great performance too. It is more then I thought it would be. A great value especially with the EPP discount I got it with.
The only flaws that I have noticed are the placement of the power connector being on the left side towards the back of the unit with the 2 USB ports very close to it. It seems very cramped to me. Also could have at least 2 more usb ports. But a USB hub takes care of that. I find this setup very ackward. Also the headphone jack being in the front. Again ackward to me. The speakers are very weak also. Finger print reader is very problematic also.

Oct 8, 2009My kids have wrecked my screen (xps m1530). It was REALLY beautiful, 1440 x 990 LG philips one, am really annoyed. Thanks to your posts on this forum, I found the dell p/n XP059 and know my screen is the LPLDF00 one. Called Dell parts today and the guy said that he would need the EXACT number which can only be found on the actual screen itself; this is the only way he could guarantee it would be the LGphilips one. He didnt seem to think the LPL number would ensure that. Does anyone know what number he is talking about - a bit reluctant to open up the screen casing etc (I'm still using the half that is working!) until its time to fix it. Is there any way to get this number without opening up?

Apr 22, 2008I just ordered my XPS. Well, I got the final quote for my wife to turn into her employer so they can order it and do the payroll deduction thing. So we get interest free payroll deductions for 18 month or so...pretty cool. So it should be ordered in the next few days.
They had the 40% off promotion going on, so that took it down to $1604 from its 'MSRP' price. I did a bit of haggling via email. I told him my wife wanted an Apple...but most of all, we were concerned about price. I then got my 12% EPP discount, which brought it to its final price of $1412. Below are the specs. Dec 28, 2008I installed xp on a xps 1530 but I can not seem to find the bluetooth drivers for xp. In Device manager, i have at other devices - Usb device With exclamation mark, but this is the bluetooth, because it appears only when I activate the bluetooth. I tryed the drivers for vista but it doesn't work
Anyone has the bluetooth drivers for xp?
