I bought my XPS1530 about a year ago. I am impressed with it, i hadnt used a laptop before and now i have tried a few different ones i have decided that the 1280x800 screen could be improved to a bigger resolution.
Is it possible to just change the display to a bigger one? or do i need other bits and pieces? The mobo was replaced last week due to a glitchy gfx issue .....
I've had my Dell XPS for over a year and a half now. No complaints with the system, especially after upgrading to Windows 7, but now I need a new battery.
The 9 cell and 6 cell that I originally bought with the system have been depleted so much that even with the laptop plugged in, the battery will not charge and obviously, both are way beyond the warranty date.
which leaves me with no other option but to purchase a new battery.
I checked out the dell website and the prices of their the replacement batteries is ridiculous.
Plus all the reviews that are posted up there, echo the same sentiment, the the battery will die after a year and will no longer be able to be charged with the AC adapter.
Hi all, new person here. I did a search on LCD screens but can't find my problem anywhere.
Here's the background and problem:
Vostro 1500 with Chungwha 1280x800 screen that got cracked by my kids. I ordered a replacement screen from a company off Amazon.com that was highly rated. Got the screen and installed it. It is make by Chi Mei. When I powered up the computer I got 8 screens of start up and it was very dim. Once it went past the Windows start up screen everything went black. It would only continue to Windows screen, still showing 8 windows in safe mode. I hooked up the old screen and everything worked fine.
I contacted the company and they air expressed me another screen, which I received yesterday. Hooked it up and got the exact same problem, which leads me to believe it's the Dell that doesn't like it. I will try and attach some photos because I am at a loss.
I downgraded the screen of my laptop from a screen with a resolution: 1920x1200 (LP154WU1) to a screen with solution of 1280x800 (B154EW01). Since then I have display problem as shown the follwing pdf: [url]
HP 17t-2100 CTO screen is light, or lines, horizontal across screen.  LM125AV  How to remove the screen from the base of the notebook, and how to test cable, or LCD screen itself? Is replacing the LCD screen the correct option?  Running Win7 64bit
I am considering purchasing an XPS 1530 for both gaming and business use/travel and am having a hard time deciding which screen to purchase? I do play various simulation games and know that the 8600gt gpu is a low/mid level card that would run games and look better at lower native screen resolutions (if not now, then within the next year or two.) I am planning to keep this computer for about 3-4 years. On the other hand, I do like having more information fit unto a screen for web browsing and general typing work.
Should I go with the 1440x900 LCD/LED screen or stay with the lower 1280x800 screen?
There are some great prices on 1530s in the outlet. I`m thinking this might be a good time to pick 1 up.
My question is: since these are computers that are already built, can you find out which screen manufacturer you`re getting when you order? I`d love to know I`m getting an LG.
After considering the sxps 16 I am just about to order a 1530 but am not sure what is the best screen option here in the UK (UK does not offer LED). These are my options:
15.4" Widescreen™ WXGA (1280x800) TFT Display (220nits) with TrueLife™ [Included in Price]15.4" UltraSharp™ Widescreen WSXGA+ (1680x1050) TFT Display with TrueLife™ [add £90.00 or £3/month1]15.4" Widescreen WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT Display with TrueLife™ [add £130.00 or £4/month1]
I will be using the laptop for design and occasional video editing & games.
I think the 1920*1200 will cause eye strain but what do you guys think?
i broke my lcd screen a few days ago and i got a replacement from ebay. i installed it but i can see the image on my screen but it is verrry dim. there's no back light. so i put the old screen and turned it on and the back light is very bright but the lcd is cracked and messed up. i don't understand how could that be that the new screen is dim and the old one still is bright but messed up.
I have a Dell Vostro 1500 (bought in 2007). I recently dropped it on the ground and the screen backlight got damaged. I ordered a new screen off eBay. I need help figuring out whether the screen that I ordered is compatible with my laptop. Here are the specs:
Original Screen: Manufacturer: AU Optronics Model: B154EW02
New Screen: Manufacturer: AU Optronics Model: B154EW02 V.6
The original screen doesn't have any version number, but the new one is V.6 (I'm assuming V stands for version).
Both are 15.4" WXGA, 1280 x 800 and Wide (16:10). The only difference that I can find is that the original screen is glossy, while the new one is matte.
Does the version number (or glossy/matte) make any difference?
I currently have an XPS m1530 with the WXGA glossy screen (1280x800) and was looking to replace it with the WUXGA screen (nothing wrong with the current screen; just need more resolution.)
Questions:
1. Can I just do a simple swap? In other words, do I have to worry about details like video card etc.? 2. What are the questions that I need to ask before buying one? (e.g. Manufacturer, warranty, brightness, type etc.?) 3. Glossy vs non-glossy - please let me know your opinions 4. Would the ones sold on eBay (links below) work fine? .....
My M1710 is 2.5 yrs old now but is still working fine for me. The only problem is is my LCD screen has some problem and i see a lot of dots on it especially when the background is dark like in a horror movie.
But still it is usuable. I showed it to my local engineer and also contacted dell and they asked me to get a new warranty and they will replace the lcd.
But I don't really want to spend that much and I have a spare LCD monitor which i am currently using with a VGA cable. I can do tasks as long as it doesn't require me to use the keyboard as the screen is almost closed.
I cracked my screen a while ago, and ordered a new part off some dinky little website. I was aware that the resolution would be 1366x768 instead of 1600x900 on this new screen, but I was unable to find the exact part I broke. Now, many months later, I decided to search again. I found this page.
Would anyone be kind enough as to look over those, and let me know which screen would be the 'best' one to get, whatever that might mean. I notice they are all the same price, but have different specs in the names. I am more of a software guy, and rely on others help for hardware advice.
i have a inspiron 6000 model# PP12L and need a new screen. the one that is in there has the number 154X2LO2.
do i have to get one with the same number or can it be a different one, like one of these: LTN154X1, LTN154X2, LTN154X3, LTN154X3-L03, LTN154X3-L06, LTN154X3-L09, LTN154X3-L05, B154EW01
I just want to know if Dell fixed the problem with their new screens, i am having some dust particles in the lower left hand corner..
i called Dell and after arguing with the rep, he said they will send me a box and i have to ship the Laptop to them for a screen replacement. The rep was saying that this was due because i dropped the laptop and cracked the screen, this is ridiculous because the laptop has been sitting on my desk and never been dropped.
Anyway, i just want to know if they fixed the new screens, because if they don't i can wait because the replacement screen will have to be replaced again in few months..........
I have the same problem as the user in another thread Acer Aspire 6930 screen replacement but since the layout of 6920 and 6930 are different, I stuck at the part when I have to pull out two video cables beneath speaker cover, cause there is only one cable (that I am aware of) in 6920. So I hope someone could explain to me what to do next after removing speaker cover, cause I don't want to brick my laptop
In general, for screen replacement on a HP business notebook, what is the best option?
1) Ship it back to HP
2) Let a tech replace it onsite
3) Ask for the whole display assembly and replace it myself
I've mostly had Dell business notebooks in the past, so I'm not sure how good HP business repair quality is. I've searched the forums here and found some stories of people not being very happy with their repair quality when it has been sent back to HP and when they've had technicians on site so I was considering just asking for the whole display assembly and then replacing it myself.
I have an Acer aspire 6930G home theatre system. The screen has been cracked and needs to be replaced. Can anyone help with either instruction on how to remove the screen. Any help would be much appreciated.
I have got the top and sides of the front bevel off, but I cannot see how to get the bottom off and I do not want to damage it.
i have an 11.1" screen tx series, but the screen is cracked.
i have checked on various site, ebay store, and the cheapest i can get an oem replacement is around $300.
i am just wondering is it possible i can just buy any 11.1" netbook, and use its screen on the sony machine? since the netbook costs about the same as the lcd screen, and i can use the other parts too.
I'm looking for a replacement screen bezel/surround to fit my SZ61WN/C (mine is cracked in half at the bottom between the N and Y of Sony! N is lost in the abyss so I currently have a SO Y Laptop ).
After a bit of digging on this site I have found the disassembly guides and nexttronics who will deliver what I need to me here in the UK, my only issue is that I'm not sure which one I need to buy.
I'm think its one on this page (below) under the "lcd133led" section as it is an led backlit screen with motion eye camera (on diagram as 1011).

My model isn't listed as its a European version (the SZ61WN/C is an all black Premium Carbon model), is there an equivalent US model number that anyone knows of?
i have recently purcahsed a 2nd hand DV9605ea laptop, which had a broken screen
i purchased another screen from ebay and have sort of succesfully replaced it.
however there are a couple of problems. firstly the screen that i took off had only 2 leads that connect to part of the motherboard, and the replacement has 3. i have connected up 2 of the wires and the monitor is working but i can only get a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. i have tried to install the nvidia drivers/software but i keep getting the error message no hardware found for this software. this also happens when microsoft updates tries to install the same software.
i guess that the monitor i am using is obviously from a different spec macine although it is from the dv9000 series.
can i use it with only the 2 cables and still get it up to 1400 x 900?
or can i upgrade the graphics card?
here is a link to show what 2 wires i am refering to. [url]
I dropped my laptop and while the computer hardware all still works, the LCD is broken. However, I do not know how to get the broken one out, let alone a new one in. Does anyone know how to replace the screen on the dv4-1430us?
I need to replace the broken screen on my late 2006 Black Macbook. The thing is I do not know which screen to buy. It would appear that the Macbook was sold with various different screens.
I was just wondering which one was the best? I heard that the Samsung one was terrible. I think the others were LG Philips and AUO, there could have been others Im not sure. As I am replacing it I want to get the best one.
