Dell :: What Is A Good And Trusted Battery Health Meter?
Jul 24, 2009I know there are software apps out there that tell you how many cycles you lithium ion battery has been through plus how healthy it is

View 5 RepliesEverytime I boot my computer the Battery Health Meter pops up. I was able to turn it off in the VAIO Control Center (or maybe VAIO Care) app. But I recently uninstalled both the VAIO Control Center and Care apps for other reasons and now I'm stuck with a pop up Battery Health Meter everytime I reboot. how to kill this thing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedBasically yesterday the battery charging light started flashing 4 orange then 1 white, and when I booted up it would say that the battery is not at an optimal running tempreture
It wouldn't the charge the battery but once I started using it and got the battery to about 90% charge then plugged it in it would start charging with no issues till it was 99% charged
so with only 86 cycles my battery's at 80% health according to iStat Pro and at about 4450 mAh according to System Profiler. What's going on? I don't put any undue stress on it and just until 20 minutes ago battery health was at 86% (although that seems low too, isn't it supposed to go 300 cycles before it goes anywhere near 80%)?
And the last time I calibrated it battery health went down.
a few days ago I turned on the dashboard to monitor temp and such.
I found that my battery health is unstable, sometime it said 97%, 98%, 99% and 100%. I thought this was normal.
But today, I turn the dashboard on and istat pro said 35% battery health.
Should I go to a apple store and ask them for a battery replacement?
It says I have had 23 charge cycles, but my health is 97%. I DID calibrate it when I first bought it. Is this normal? I have a 13"MBP with the integrated battery.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIts starting to get annoying, only being able to see the Percentage and not the remaining time. Is there a way to make it display the Battery life time? You all know what i'm talking about -- like in Dell laptops, they say
"99% 3 hours 10 minutes remaining"
is there a way to make my DV7T show the time left?
I just got my new uMacbook Pro 17" mid 2009 and the battery health is a 96% with 0 cycles on it at 100% charge, what is up?
View 10 Replies View Relatedgadget that shows the time remaining for battery life for the Pavilion DV series laptops? All of the ones I have tried say the % but never show time remaining.
View 10 Replies View RelatedRecently my battery 'time remaining' meter have been showing outrageous time left (e.g. 55 hr 35mins). I have looked on the internet for solutions but I couldn't find any.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that my battery meter/AC power icon has disappeared from my system tray. I'm not sure how to make it reappear. I'm not even sure how it suddenly disappeared in the first place. The reason why I want this icon to always be there is so that I can tell how much battery power I have left on my laptop. Also, when I am charging my laptop battery and letting my laptop run on AC power, the battery icon turns into the AC power icon. How do I get it to reappear? Is the icon part of the Dell Quickset program/software?  I'm not sure. I have an Inspiron 1520.Â
View 14 Replies View RelatedAfter a clean install of vista on my dv5z, all the drivers have been installed and everything works properly...
one thing i noticed was that the battery manager now says
Balanced
Power Saver
High Performance
instead of
HP Recommended
Power Saver
High Performance...
I was wondering if there is any benefit of having Hp recommended instead of just Balanced, and if there is a driver or fix?
I have a Dv6500 series notebook with C2D 1.5 GHZ processor and Nvdia 8400gs Graphics card.
My notebook came with vista preinstalled which i did'nt like...
so I Installed XP primarily using the guide at this location
www.nogodforme.com
and
Installing Windows XP on the Intel based dvx500t Series
I have installed all the drivers mentioned in the thread and I dont have any "yellow" marks in the device manager...
The problem is With Vista there was a toolbar option that displayed "battery level", "charging status" and allowed to use the following settings
1)Power saver
2)HP recommended
3)High performance.............
istat use to show the battery health as 97% but now its gone to 79% since i installed snow leopard, how can this happen? also i tried to reset the SMC, but i have dont know it it worked as there was no beep or picture afterwards.
I held shift, ctrl, alt and the on button at the same time.
As I've previously posted, my M1730 developed a problem with it's pair of 8800M GTXs back in September. After weeks and weeks of no service call happening, Dell finally agreed to refund me the full price of the laptop. When the money was received, I turned around and handed it right back for a M17x that I received a good quote for. When I ordered in earlier this month, I was told that there was a delay on a component and the estimated delivery date given was the 13th of January. Since I'd had no gaming laptop since September, I didn't really mind. I was checked the Order Status tool every day, but there was no change in the EDD.
On Friday December 11th I receive an email from Dell/UPS stating that they planned to deliver my laptop on Friday December 18th between 09:00 and 18:00. I checked the Order Status tool and it showed my laptop status as changed to 'Shipped.' Excellent! The email contained a UPS tracking code which was recognised on their website. The status was 'Billing Information Received' which means that they know there's a package to go somewhere, but they don't have it yet. Or so I've since been told.
Can you guess where this is heading? Friday 18th comes and goes and I've not received a laptop. I stayed in all day, most hermit-like, so there's no way they missed me. No card. Finally called UPS and they say that they haven't received the laptop yet.
So I checked the Dell Order Status page again and it definitely states that it shipped on the 11th. So where did it go? I don't mind waiting. I do mind waiting indoors for something that's not coming. Dell have also changed their 'Contact Customer Care' policy and there are no longer any phone numbers listed for them. It's now email only with a 24 hour response time.
I just bought a 7200 mAh battery 9 cell from ebay. It dont last a month when the perfomance drop more than a half. So Im looking for a good batt that dont go dead so easily.
This batt was great for the first days. It last about 4 hours in high perfomance playing and 6 in normal use. Now it last 1 1/2 hour playing or less.
Inspiron 9400 battery good but shuts down
Worked fine on AC or battery until I installed a new Dell battery a few months ago.
Subsequently, works only about two minutes on battery, then completely shuts down without warning and can't be re-started until re-connected to AC power. Adjusting Power Schemes "Running on batteries" in Power Options Properties hasn't helped.
Works OK on AC.
I bought a refurbished laptop from a distributor on ebay, who I discovered doesn't know the true meaning of refurbished. But to make the long story short, after I installed a new CMOS battery,
and purchased 2 new laptop batteries because the dead CMOS killed 2 other batteries, I now discovered the laptop will not boot up using just battery power with a full 100% charge.
When I press the power button, the battery LED's light up like it was charging the battery. It's 3 green 1 amber, and it dos this about 4 times before stopping. None of the lock lights, light up (just threw that in there in case it is relevent).
I have a ThinkPad x240 that is about 2 months old running Windows 7. Everything has been working great until this morning.  I was on vacation and did not use my laptop for a week or so.  When I plugged it into my docking station this morning, I noticed that the battery was reading 0% charged and was not charging. Â

Lenovo Power Management showed that the battery is in good shape
Lenovo Power Management showed that there was "no activity" - not charging
Lenovo Power Management showed no battery #1 - battery # 2 installed but not charging.
Troublshooting so far
Tried charging with external power supply outside of docking station - No Change
Removed battery, powered unit up and removed all Battery items in Device Manager
Reinstalled battery and powered unitup - No change
Removed and reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management and Driver / rebooted - No change
Current state: No Power Management software on the laptop - just using the Microsoft stuff (Still not charging). What else I should be trying / checking?Â
I've had this hard drive for quite a while now. I leave my laptop on pretty much 24/7 and was just wondering how the health of my HD is. I have a lot of important stuff on this and I was thinking of just buying a new HD and putting this into storage for safekeeping.
Here are some stats from Everest:

Can you tell anything from this? Is there a chance it could die soon?
I was thinking of getting the Hitatchi 200GB 7.2k RPM 16MB buffer HD but it's quite expensive. Has anyone any experience with this drive?

One thing I miss going from a Inspiron 6000 to a M1530 is the onscreen volume meter bar when you press the louder and softer volume buttons on the Media Bar. On my Inspiron 6000, a gui bar pops up when you adjust the volume using the media bar buttons to let you know exactly where your volume is set at. I don't even know when to stop pressing the volume up button because I don't know when the volume is maxed out on my M1530. Anybody know of a way to make the onscreen volume meter return?

I currently have an XPS 1530 and I need a new laptop as I am giving this one to the wife. This laptop has been quite good to me. A couple of questions about the XPS 16.
The XPS 1530 is the perfect size for me. How much larger is the XPS 16? Is it Substantial? I don't want something similar to the 17 inch laptops that Dell has out there...they are just too large, Any insight would be appreciated.
I generally use the machine for heavy MS Office work...Web...and Photos. So, obviously the machine is more than adequate for this. My main question is which screen to get. I'd love to get the RGB, but will this be ok for what I am doing? Is the glare bad? Are there any drawbacks to the RGB?
I read on the net there is an issue with Dell product breaking down and bad customer service. Also can anyone tell me can I play Directx10 games with medium setting on this notebook. How fast it is?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have two friends that have them and I like them. I really like the fact they have true HD screens. Although When I build it on Dell's site I dont get an option for HDMI. My one friend has an HDMI port on theirs.
Anyways are they any good?
I would get the 2.20 Core i3 version i think.
4gig ram.
and I think the stock intel HD graphics.
I have a Dell XPS M1530 with a 320GB HDD. A few months back when I checked how much free space I had left it showed 295GB not 320GB in total.
Currently I have 224GB out of 295GB and this doesn't seem right to me because I have nothing on my HDD except for CCleaner and and a few small programs.
I figured that so much space was being taken up because when I downloaded Firefox which is 30MB, 10GB was taken off of of my HDD, same thing happens with whatever I download. I have no clue whats going on
