Dell :: Wrong Processer Ordered -a Significant Error?
Oct 27, 2009
Late in the evening I ordered a Studio 15 from the Dell Outlet. I meant to order one with a core 2 t6500 processor, but actually ordered a system with a duo core t4200 processor.
Before I could contact anyone to cancel the order, it shows as shipped. Would I see a significant enough difference in internet .....
I have an Acer Aspire 5672Wlmi and recently my battery went completely dead. I went to the Acer website to find out that they are out of stock which meant that I am out of luck. A quick search on amazon gave me some promising results and a few days ago I bought a battery that is an equivalent of the one I need.
If I try to boot the computer using the battery I get an error saying that I have the wrong battery and I should insert the correct battery and press any key. This message is shown immediately after the Acer logo flashes momentarily during the POST so I guess this restriction comes from Acer's BIOS. Right now it seems my chances of having the right battery are as high as being able to find a key that says "any" o my keyboard.
However I know that the battery is fine because it runs fine if I insert it once the latop has booted. Even if I remove the power plug after that it runs just fine. Also the fact that I am able to read the message when the latop is running only on battery is sufficient to convince me that my battery is fine and my BIOS is wrong.
My questions is, what should I do to fix this problem? I have already contacted the seller but I thought you guys might know more about how to fix this. I guess it would involve flashing the bios which is fine with me.
If it matters for the BIOS version, the laptop was bought in the UK.
I have no idea what a LED vs LCD screen is supposed to look like so i want to make sure that I received the LED screen as ordered. I am running vista ultimate.
Can I upgrade my dvd Rom to the blu-ray/dvd/Rw slot and I should have done it before ordering the the laptop? So I guess my question is: Is the blu-ray slot something I can order as an upgrade?
I have a Dell M1330 that requires a spare battery. Is Denaq.com a reputable company & do their batteries perform as well as well as Dell brand? Their battery is $60 at denaq.com vs. $150 at dell.com.
I have never heard of this company and don't want to give my credit card info without getting any positive feedback from this valuable forum first.
I ordered my inspiron laptop December 27th 2008 they originally gave me a estmated ship date of January 16th! I got confirmation it has left the dell facility and fedex has it and it's only January 4th! When I track it ,
it says being delivered on the 6th! I was just wondering why it left Nashville tennesse last night and has not updated since? Is it sitting somewhere in between
I ordered the 14z about a week ago and I dont remember them offering a free Windows 7 update. I guess I assumed it was included. I went to the website a few minutes ago and I see that its in red as an offer.
Do you think if I call Dell and tell them I want the upgrade or I will just cancel my order and reorder they will give it to me? Its seems silly for them to stop production of my laptop just for a free O.S. upgrade.
First off i use to have a dell Inspiron 1501 then i upgraded to the Inspiron 1545 which i know both of these 2 machines are a very basic low end computer
I just ordered a Dell Studio 1749 and its in the process of being built as we speak.. but with these newer computers technology im not very familer with.
1. my first question i was wondering if anyone knew of the release date the Studio 1749 came out.
2. is the I5 processor better then the duo core .....
just hit the button on this new 24'' Dell HD monitor (got it on the deal of the day for $269)[url] ok so i was wondering, now that i have this coming, what would be the best way to connect my 1530 to it? hdmi? vga? also, how would i do use the monitor so that my laptop screen remains turned off the whole time?
Has anybody ordered the RGBLED display and received the WLED one instead? I ordered the RBGLED (as shown on my receipt and Dell confirmation email) but my shipping confirmation says WLED. I am on the phone with them now, but they are only seeing WLED now (since that's what it's now showing for them). If you had this issue, how did you get it resolved?
I ordered a "previously ordered new" Latitude E6400 from the Dell Outlet a few days ago. Got a pretty decent price of $560 after using a 15% off e-coupon.
Mine is fairly basic as far as the E6400 line-up goes, e.g. no fingerprint reader, no backlit keyboard, no Bluetooth, etc. I'd use this strictly as my personal laptop, and I was looking for something with XP and a matte screen anyway.
It has a Core 2 Duo P8400, 160 GB HD, 2 GB DDR2 RAM, 24x CD-RW/DVD drive, Intel GMA 4500 MHD video, WXGA matte screen, and the Dell 1397 802.11 b/g internal wireless card.
Hopefully I'm just overreacting, but I've come across some owner reviews on CNet, Amazon, Dell.com, etc. about E6400s having overheating problems, issues with Dell's ControlPoint (?)
software, the pseudo brushed metal exterior surfaces collecting fingerprints and skin oil way too easily,
I'm anxious to see how the new models compared to their predecessors. I've always liked the Vostro models and recommend them quite often in lieu of budget "retail" models.
They have decent build quality, look nice and they often go on-sale for dirt cheap!
The new models look promising. I hope that they are at least as good as the 1310/1510/2510/1710 that they're replacing. I'd also love to see the 1320 with a 13.3" LED-backlit display like the one on the Lenovo ThinkPad SL300!
I have no idea what a LED vs LCD screen is supposed to look like so i want to make sure that I received the LED screen as ordered. I am running vista ultimate.
Ok so I do not want to have another unit fail as my last order from the outlet did; my previous unit was refurb, but I was considering going the "previously ordered" route-- what is the difference?
with an xps used my 9300 charger and now it wont power on anymore with her old charger. it would only bring her to the screen where it says...this is a different charger, even when she is now using her original charger. it was working before on battery, but now that her battery is discharged, it's not working.
My current laptop, an acer, has been on its last legs for a long time. Everything with it is falling apart. Being a senior in high school, and off to college next year, I need a good machine.
My dad offered me his old m1330, which he bought, refurbished, about a year ago. I am not sure about the warranty, but he has used it lightly (for taxes only) and never had a problem with it.
I was flashing my bios of my dell xps studio 16 (i don't know which 17xx it is... it has i5 and 4gb of ram. some ati vidfeo card with 1gb of vram, 15.6 LCD)
And then it froze for about an hour. So I unplugged power, took out battery and tried to boot it up. To my dismay, nothing showed up on the screen.
I have so much stuff on my HD that I need.
What are some ways to fix my laptop? Do I have to send it to dell? Will I lose all my data?
I was in the middle of watching a show on hulu when the computer suddenly got really slow for no apparent reason. I tried closing apps but it didn't help. Being very impatient I held the power button down to turn it off.
When I turned it back on the hard drive instantly started working non stop (HDD light on solid. not blinking) and it took forever to load windows. The HDD is on constantly now and the performance is terrible
I've just bought a Dell XPS M1330, which had Windows Vista. I've erased the Vista, installed the XP and updated the BIOS to the lattest version. As I was experiencing random freezings, I ran Orthos ...
the CPU temperature rose rapidly to ~80C and in less than 3 minutes was above 90C. After ~5 minutes, it has reached the critical value and the laptop shutted down, even though the fan was spinning above 5000 rpm.
Using CoreTemp and CPU-Z, I've seen that the VID of the CPU (T7500) is ~1.2500V, but CPU-Z shows 1.36V and even 1.40V sometimes. Using the RMClock I've found the CPU to be stable @ 2200MHz @ 1.20V (maybe even less).....
I received my M1730 today, and all of the paperwork states I have the 8800 GTX 2X512mb cards (my order screen, my invoice, etc), yet when I powered it up, looked at the BIOS, it has the 8700's in it. Now I don't know what to do. I want the machine but don't want to have to wait another 2 weeks to get it.
I also ordered a Crimson Red cover and it came with the Smoke Gray cover, don't know how this happened either, but not as big a deal as the video cards!
My laptop had to be replaced by Dell a second time within the last four years recently. I shipped it in and it took about a week and they placed an order to begin processing a shipment for a replacement. The replacement shipped out on Thursday. I had to do my own investigating to get a tracking number because the reps were useless.
I go to FedEx to check the number and find out its getting overnighted (YES!) but then to my horror, I noticed it's getting this to an old address I lived at YEARS ago. The thing I find funny about this is that, even when the laptop was replaced the first time, nothing was shipped to that address it was shipped to me at school. When I received the box to ship in my current unit to repair, it was sent to my current address. I have no clue where they got this address .....
I have a dell inspiron 6000 computer and installed Ram into my laptop. The thing was i tried to push it in and it would not go in. I then later saw there was a spot where u can push the ram in and eventually got it in. I did use lot of force pushing it in.
When i open my laptop, it opens but the screen is black and then turns off in like 7 seconds. I then took out the new ram and installed the old ram. It still has the same problem. Does that mean my laptop does not work anymore? Does it also mean i cannot return my RAM to the online site where i purchased my ram since theres a 30 day policy?
