View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an HP 250 G2 laptop with no operating system (freedos) After Installing windows 7 home premium x64 I went to the HP support web page and downloaded all drivers, installed them and everything seems to work without problems.
The only problem is that the HP support page does not have any drivers for the keyboard and the outcome is that all the FN keys are non functional.
In device manager the keyboard is shown normally because windows 7 automatically installs drivers but these are not 100% compatible so that FN keys would be working.
it is very important to be able to use fn keys so that I can change brightness, sound level, and tun on/ off wifi.
My Dell Inspiron N5010 keyboard is not working properly. The keys from numpad not working. And sometimes left arrow too. If I press some key of them is appearing random letters or numbers. Sometimes they change my volume, brightness, and touchpad /enable-disable./ My OS is Windows 7. I have tried Ubuntu 12.04, but and there is similarly.

My g and h keys stopped working after a Windows 8.1 update occurred on my Inspiron 15R-5521. I didn't even want te update--but could not stop it.
I have tried updatin BIOS drivers, input drivers, and altering keyboard functions in control panel.
i've recently just repaired the jack connector for my hp pavilion dv6000. I put it all together today and my keyboards playing up. Quite a few of the keys arent working. I've checked the connection for the keyboard and its pushed in as far as possible.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is HP Pavilion dv6-3055tx and has win 7 ultimate 64bit installed. From past few days, i noticed that three keys of my keyboard are not working whenever the wifi key is ON.
These keys are:
1-Delete
2-Left Arrow
3-Right arrow
When i turn off wifi key, it works normally. I don't know what the problem really is?
I just removed the LED dashboard cover and then the keyboard in a LATITUDE E4300 and used some compressed air for a simple spring cleaning. after I carefully put everything back together, the following keys stopped working 9 O L .
I repeated the process a couple of times to make sure I didn't make any mistake, but still those keys don't work.
The numbers 1-4 on my Y580 keyboard don't work anymore. I only realized this recently as I had been using a separate USB keyboard for some time. I've tried all sorts of things - uninstalling and uninstalling the keyboard drivers in Device Manager, reinstalling the BIOS, unchecking all the boxes under the accessbility options, scanned the computer for malware...but nothing seems to work.
I've also installed Windows 8.1 and replaced my HDD with an SSD...
Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro on my HP Pavilion (dv7-1223ca) , several keys on my keyboard haven't been working properly. I've upgraded and downgraded my computer many times, and this hasn't happened before. When I press the G, H, backspace, or apostrophe keys, they won't work unless I press one of them around thirty or forty times. Once I get one of them working, they all start to work properly for about five minutes, and then it goes back to being broken.
This is a major hassle as I use my laptop for work. I've tried reinstalling the keyboard drivers, but this hasn't worked
Also, two of the keys on my keyboard (alt and delete) came off completely and won't go back on. Is there any chance HP would be able to replace these?
I am using an external bluetooth keyboard now and those keys work using it. I have also replaced the keyboard on the laptop but the Keys WAZS still do not work ....

Few number keys and space bar is not working. Other keys are working fine.
Knocked half a glass of water over keyboard yesterday. Turned off & wiped away straightaway. No problem re-booting etc but now some kets along top 2 rows not working. After a day - do you think there's any chance these will spring back into life?Do Lenovo supply any on-site repair options (at a cost obviously).....can't spare time at moment to send away - even for a couple of days.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with my keyboard on my dell studio 1737. When you press certain keys on the keyboard the adjacent keys are activated as well as the key itself. I've tried various techniques I've read about to correct the problem such as removing power from the laptop for an extended period of time and installing new bios drivers but nothing seems to work. From the information I can gather this is a common problem with this model of Dell laptop. What is the best way to correct this problem. Will replacing the keyboard correct this problem or is there some other problem causing the malfunction?
View 4 Replies View RelatedDell, is it possible to configure 1564 with a different keyboard? I even prefer the 1545 raised keyboard.
It's more old school (bb guy said it would collect dust under keys more), but it's easier to use. Does anyone know if the insp15z has a keyboard with raised keys?
Anyone else find the big flat keys harder to use? Is there some advantage to these, thus Dell made the change? I wasn't wild about the Sony chicklet style either. Lenova seemed easiest to me of the ones I tested in BB.
Anyone have pics of an SXPS 13/16 keyboard with some/all keys removed? I'm curious as to what it looks like and am too scared to remove my own.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI struggled with this on 2 occasions. I had found the answer once and couldn't remember the second time around. In searching I found many do not know how to use keys that do not appear on your laptop physical key board. The following info at least works on a Dell XPS 14Z. Let me know if this works for you.
Computer Info (Typing ASCII on XPS 14z)
To pull up On Screen Keyboard to type ASCII on XPS 14z Laptop, use the following process. To add text info into Photoshop using ASCII is may be easier to type it in word, then copy and paste.
Click Windows Icon (Open Windows Start Menu)
In the “Search Programs and Files” field, type OSK
Depress <enter>
An on screen keyboard should pop up.
For example to create a Copyright symbol © using ASCII
Hold down the Alt Key on your physical keyboard
While Holding the Alt Key use your cursor or touchpad and on the On Screen Keyboard
Move to 0 and left click
Move to 1 and left click
Move to 6 and left click
Move to 9 and left click
On your physical keyboard Depress<enter>
The © should appear
It's been over a month since I purchased my unit from Dell Malaysia and just yesterday I faced this very unusual problem with my keyboard. Keys 6 7 y u h j n m were not functioning. Did any of you experienced the same problem?
I am currently here in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and in case any of you knows how I can manage to avail Dell's warranty service from he I would love to hear from you.
I've owned and used dozens of laptops in my day, but never have I come across a keyboard that refuses to let me have the key. Usually I can wedge my fingernail in under both sides of the key and just "pop" it off .....

View 4 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I removed two keys from my keyboard (backspace and enter) because some liquid fell onto it. Fortunately I cleaned it and nothing happened until I tried to put the keys back: I really couldn't make them fit correctly. I already tried to look for tutorials for this specific model of keys (including the website laptopkey), but couldn't find any.
It looks like to me that the "backspace" might be damaged but the "enter" looks totally ok. But I'm really not sure.
I took some pictures:
