Mar 19, 2013My Inspiron 14 Intel N4050 's keyboard is warped and some of the keys are dislocating and stuck. How can I get it replaced? Is it covered under warranty ?

Keyboard is Continuously transmitting a scan code 31h
It would appear that the left cursor key is stuck, as the only way I can get into windows (using an external keyboard) is to type my password backwards! instead of 'password' I type 'drowssap' The cursor is constantly moving left so by typing the password backwards it comes out the right way round. I took the cover off and disconnected & removed the keyboard and trackpad. But the problem persists: it seems this key is constantly transmitting, even without the keyboard!!
I've cleared the CMOS, left it unplugged without power, battery, CMOS Battery for 3 days. I've flashed the BIOS, changed the Memory. Still the same problem. Keyboard has been disconnected all this time, but getting this constant Key signal.Where is it coming from if the keyboard is disconnected?

Jan 25, 2015I am having a problem with my keyboard on my dell studio 1737. When you press certain keys on the keyboard the adjacent keys are activated as well as the key itself. I've tried various techniques I've read about to correct the problem such as removing power from the laptop for an extended period of time and installing new bios drivers but nothing seems to work. From the information I can gather this is a common problem with this model of Dell laptop. What is the best way to correct this problem. Will replacing the keyboard correct this problem or is there some other problem causing the malfunction?

There is only one partition which is useful to me with a storage of 310 GB. But, I want 4 useful partitions. I don't need any recovery partition etc.

Computer details: My Laptop shipped with ubundu and I installed windows 7 home premium.
Processor: Intel core i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30 GHz

Problem: For past one year it was working fine but now am facing shutdown issues. When I shutdown my laptop it's not shutting properly (i.e.) power led keeps glowing and fan keeps running until i long press power button to shut it down. But restart works fine. Same problem occurs when I put in sleep mode and hibernate mode.

Apr 21, 2013I am using 2012.0815.2143 version of catalyst control center which was default download available from the dell support center for my laptop model. The problem i am experiencing is that whenever i switch powerplay to maximize performance my GPU temp just increases to 90C, seems like fan doesn't work and system powers down due to maybe thermal shutdown. But when powerplay is set to maximize battery life the temperature remains fine and i can play games fine.In maximize battery life core runs at 300Mhz only which is not good heavy games.

May 27, 2014I've got 2 separate but really annoying issues with my W540 20BH:
- display brightness keys not working: when waking up from Hibernation mode, sometimer (really, randomly!) the display brightness keys (Fn+F5/F6) don't work.... either if the display brightness is stuck on max, min or an intermediate level...Is there a way to shut down and restart the process which commands the Fn keys?
- audio channel commutation gets stuck. Normal behaviour of the audio configuration is:
1) speaker volume disabled, mic disabled
2) when plugging in a 4-pin headset, headset's volume is on, headset's mic is switched on; speaker volume is still disables.
3) when unplugging the headset, speakers' volume is still 0
After each boot, the audio channel is at 0, but doesn't commute to the headset when plugged in! I have to open Configuration Panel, realtek properties. With this window open, unplug and re-plug the headset. Now, the volume has its normal behaviour.
Any better way to configure audio channels and evenments, which is able to bypass realtek's manager?

Oct 5, 2008I've been trying to play WoW on my new Studio 1735, but I'm having issues with the Keyboard. If I, for example, press the "S" key, hold it and hit the "A" key next (do this very fast a couple of times) the keys will get stuck and I see my character going left all the time until I hit the "A" key once more.
This also happens with any of the directonial keys.
Is anyone else having this problem here? I've been browing the Dell Comunity forums and I'm not alone with this one. I've seen this "bug" reported on Windows XP/Vista and even Linux systems, so I'm guessing it's a BIOS issue.
I haven't found a solution yet, so if anyone has one, I'm allready running the latest A04 Bios.

Jan 14, 2013The touchpad of my Inspiron N4050 stops working properly everytime i plug my external HD that is AC powered or the HDMI cable. It doesn't matter if the AC of the laptop is connected or not, the touchpad becomes impossible to use. I tried using it in other places thinking of an energy problem at my place, but it still occurs. Other laptops work normaly with the external harddrive and the HDMI.
