Dell Inspiron 15Z model 5523 laptop less than 2 years old. Locked up during a Windows update. Refreshed it and lost all my programs. Downloaded Firefox accidentally from a bad site and it was bundled with malware. So I refreshed the laptop again. Had everything working and then later that day it just quit. Locked up and when I rebooted, it said no hard drive could be found. I have a new hard drive, but how do I get my Windows 8 (paid for with the computer) and a boot disk from Dell?
internal hard drive disk not found; no bootable devices; start up repair finds no solution..... I have reseated the hard drive several times. the computer runs extremely slow. Dell Data Safe had recommended replacing the hard drive ''couple of months" ago.
Just purchased an Inspiron 15 laptop with Windows 8. Â I removed the hard disk drive from our old Inspiron 6000, installed it in an enclosure, and hooked it to the new laptop to be able to access the document files. Â (The hdd from the old computer is a Western Digital 250 GB and was newly installed six months ago).
When I plug in the enclosure, the power light comes on and it shows up on the new laptop as local disk E. Â When I click on disk E and go to documents, the only documents shown are three that are saved on the new laptop, and none of the hundreds of documents saved on the hdd from the old computer. Â What I can do?
I have a Inspiron M5040 (mid 2011) I ran a system test and was informed that there was a drive critical error with a hard drive ST95032 5AS SATA Disk Device FAILED... What does that mean, is it fixable and how much?
I have a HP 15 Notebook PC with no dvd drive recently I was sent the system recovery cds from HP. I dont have an external dvd drive. What i do have is a Toshiba Satelight laptop with Widows 7 and a good dvd drive. Also I have a 500 GB external hard drive. I was thinking maybe I could copy the disks onto the external harddrive with the Toshiba dvd drive. Then attach the external hard drive to my HP 15 Notebook by usb port and install Hp recovey disks from the external hard drive.
I would like a big hard drive, but it seems like those bigger than 750 GB are 12 mm, not 9 mm. But can I use that as a secondary hard drive on the Precision?
My laptop suddenly hanged. When I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Del, the menu did not come on. When I repeated, it did not shut down. I manually shut down the laptop. When I restarted, it said cannot find hard disk drive and no bootable devices.
Someone checked it out and they say the drive has crashed. Is it possible the links are loose? Is it possible to recover data from drive?
I just got an Intel X18-M G1 80 gb ssd with a 2.5" enclosure to upgrade the HDD in my Acer 1410.
I opened the back panel, removed the 2 screws, then removed plastic piece holding down the gold connector, and pulled the plastic tape to get the hard drive out.
Problem now is, how do I remove the old hard drive from the chasis? I've upgraded laptop drives before and usually just there is a SATA connector. But here the SATA connector seems to be connected to a chasis/circuit board. There are several 6 point star shaped screws, including some covered by a piece of black plastic.
Unfortunately the internal keyboard and mouse on my MBP seem to have packed up for good. Fortunately, I can still use a USB keyboard and mouse.
Is there any way I can copy the entire contents of the hard disk onto an external USB hard disk (everything so that I don't lose desktop icons, filing structure e.t.c.) and then restore it when I get a new machine?
I have an HP Pavillion dm4. My hard drive died so I installed a new hard drive. The original OS installed on the computer was Windows 7. I did not get a Windows 7 disk with the computer. If I order the Windows 7 recovery disk from HP, will it install Windows 7 on my new hard drive? I have the COA info.
There's a "disk read error occured" when I startup and it won't boot into windows at all. I did a hard disk test in BIOS and the Short DST failed and the failure id is GTU23F-5QF788-XD6V5F-60UR0 for Hard Disk 1. I know there's an 80 SSD and 750 HD but which one failed? Â If the ssd failed can I use the 750gb HD or does it need both? Â If I do need to replace the SSD can I replace it with a regular HD (on a budget) and what size drive do I need? 2.5?
I am planning to buy New Dell Inspiron 15 series 7000. I would want to replace the harddisk with SSD by next year or so. But i wanted to know if i can have SSD along with hard disk in this laptop.
I wanted both good performance along with large storage. So i was wondering if i can have two disks at once.
I just received my T530 (2359CTO) and need to encrypt the hard drive. When I purchased it, I opted (among other reasons) for Windows 8 Professional because it comes with BitLocker. I then discovered that some ThinkPads have hard drives that support hardware encryption (FDE). Â I've tried to figure out whether mine has this feature, but haven't had any luck. The BIOS gives me the option to set a hard drive password, but I'm not positive that it actually encrypts the hard drive with this setting.
a) how to figure out if my hard drive supports hardware encryption b) how to enable it
Is it possible to put an additional hard disk in an inspiron 15R - 5521? I would like to put a SSD in it, but would like to keep the 1TB disk that is currently in it.
I have diagnose my system with dell system detect and with window diagnose tool and find that there are some bad sectors in my hard disk, how can i recover them and also some of my friend remove my window 7 Â home edition and install window 7 ultimate edition in my laptop Inspiron N5010Â so can I again remove and reinstall the home edition in my laptop and how to remove bad sectors cause i can't afford new hard drive right now ....
One day I came home and opened my laptop to see a black screen with a blue bar and white font saying Harddisk Security SAT Port 0 Hitachi HTS723232A7ALock. I don't know what to do, nobody put a password on it, and the manual doesn't give a password.
I currently have a Dell Inspiron 1720 with a second hard disk I bought and fitted myself. If I get a Studio 17, will I be able to fit this hard disk into the second bay in there? As far as I'm aware the disk itself should be okay, but the caddy might be slightly different for that model - is that right? If so I'll just buy a new caddy or modify this one - otherwise I'll be £100 down for this hard disk!
I am replacing the installed Seagate Momentus 160 gb 5400 SATA disk with a Seagate Momentus 320gb 7200rpm SATA hard disk as I need the extra space to hold my growing itunes collection and feel the extra speed would also be welcome.
I have the original Dell installation disks (Operating System, drivers etc), the installation disks for the subsequently installed software (other than the freebies including iTunes etc available on the net) and have backed up all my critical data to an external hard drive using the vista backup facility for subsequent restoration once all the software has been installed.
I will of course keep the 160 gb drive available with all it's data intact as a secondary safeguard until I have satisfactorily completed the installation and testing of the new disk.
How can disable my internal HDD from Bios version A08 of Inspiron 5423? I cannot find this option in the Bios. I'm trying to boot from an external usb HDD but it fails because of the OS installed in the internal HDD.
How I can disable the internal HDD without having to physically open the laptop?
Using my inspiron 2330 (only 18mths old ) as normal next thing it tells me it encountered fault and has to reboot anyway it keeps saying scanning and repairing drive (c) then does not allow me to log in so i manage to get into bios to do a scan and it guves me a error code of 2000-0142 Â validation code of 112406 and and then says harddrive 0-s/n wd-wmc152946178
When i finally manage to log in my desk top screen is flashing and keeps telling my hard drive fault ....
After hard disk failure on my dell inspiron n5030 i copied two first partitions from my old hard drive to a new one using Acronis disk director. But when i try to use ctrl+f11 to start the recovery procedure the procedure doesn't work.
I also tried decompressing the factory iso file to Os partition and when i tried to start the pc and boot with Os partition as active  it didn't work.
I was using my laptop and suddenly it shutdown. I thought ot was some kind of battery probelm and i change it but same result i check ram and processor too but all are fine . Laptop shutdown after 10 to 15 sec . The fan speed increases before shutdown.
I have a problem in bootin my inspiron 14z. Everytime when I start the boot, it always stuck at Dell logo. Sometime, it said that internal hard disk drive not found to resoldve this issue, try to reseat the drive. The system was running well just until last night.
