I'm not able to start my laptop properly so I tried to resolve this problem as following:1. Restart my laptop, pressing F12 and selected Diagnostics.I got following message on screen:
Error code: 0142
Msg: Error code 2000-0142
Msg: Hard Drive 0 - self test unsuccessful.
Sometimes system stuck on Windows logo appear at just start up. Sometimes system become standalone after login and I cannot do anything. Even I cannot move cursor.Sometimes after login a blue screen appear showing message of memory dump. I just want to make sure that Hard drive is not crashed because When I run system in Safe mode I can see all drives. Does this means Hard drive is OK?
I've been using my Dell Inspiron N7110 with windows 7 for a little over a year now and a couple days ago, I turned it on to find out it wouldn't boot up anymore. It works normally up until it gets to the windows logo animation, which does not occur anymore. It seems just stall here for a bit then show the wallpaper for the login screen but will not show the area to input login credentials. This happens the exact same way even when I choose to start up in safe mode or anything like that.
So I ran a diagnostic and everything checked out except for the hard drive. It gives me the error "Msg: Hard Drive 0 - S/N 6VER58HG, self test unsuccessful. Status = 79". The hard drive still seems to be seen in the diagnostics and such, but does not to be responsive I suppose.
There's a "disk read error occured" when I startup and it won't boot into windows at all. I did a hard disk test in BIOS and the Short DST failed and the failure id is GTU23F-5QF788-XD6V5F-60UR0 for Hard Disk 1. I know there's an 80 SSD and 750 HD but which one failed?
If the ssd failed can I use the 750gb HD or does it need both?
If I do need to replace the SSD can I replace it with a regular HD (on a budget) and what size drive do I need? 2.5?
I bought the machine t430 thinkpad three months in the United States.
Currently the program to check the hard drive by LSC, the error message is: Targeted read test Failed
Diagnostics SMART status test Passed Targeted read test Failed Random seek test Passed Funnel seek test Passed SMART short self-test Passed SMART drive self-test Passed
The time machine is still time 8 months warranty. Hitachi Hard Drive 500 GB 7200 rpm / min
Is it due to the speed that new hard drive used for 3 months has been corrupted? In case of warranty, Lenovo does not provide a Windows license again, right?

My HP Pavilion G6 laptop fails to load Windows. The HP UEFI diagnostics for hard disk failed the Short DST test with failure code GU754F-6PK7GW-MFPWXG-60TQ03. Does this mean I have to replace my hard drive? My laptop's product ID is E3D62EA#ABU and I have Win8.1 64-BIT installed on it.
My laptop HP Pavilion dv6-6c35dx fails to load Windows. I ran diagnostics and got a quick (303) error. The HP UEFI diagnostics for hard disk failed the Short DST test with failure code MBX47F 0006QU PXGK01 60QT03. Does this mean I have to replace my hard drive? My laptop's product ID is A6Y53UAR#ABA and I have Win7 -64 installed on it.
I have a Pavilion dv7 1245dx with Windows Vista 64 Bit bought 2009 at Best Buy. It slid off the arm of the couch onto a carpeted floor while shut down. Next day started ok, got into yahoo, facebook, then kind of froze up. Eventually, would not do anything, manually shut it down, started it back up. Black screen, 'No Bootable Device-Insert Boot Disc And Press Any Key'. It will not accept recovery discs that I made after purchase. Start up test ok, memory test ok, hard disk failed 'Boot Drive Not Found'. Caps lock light is blinking. I saw something in a forum about resetting or reseating the hard drive but no explanantion how to do it.
I have inspiron 5520 laptop, i ran a diagnostic test which shows Hard disc test failure. it also shows hard disc failure is imminent .
Also in dell support center - pc checkup I ran test Hard disc failled in two tests, Targeted read test and SMART short self test, my laptop is under warranty. what should i do?
I had hp pavilion 2230 tx laptop which is out of warranty. My laptop doesn't starting .It goes on Automatic Repair and after a minute it starts "Diagonising your PC" which remain for hours and at last "Automatic repair failed" message appears, below it restore option is also available. I proceed to restore but it also fails. Then I shutdown the laptop and open it again and I pressed esc button quickly and then I tried to test the hard drive which doesn't go furthur testing and display "hard drive test fails". Whether my hard disk is crashed or not.
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110. The Warranty ran out in July of last year so for some reason I cannot email technical support directly.I ran the Dell PC Diagnostic test earlier today, all of which passed with the exception of the SMART Short Self Test which failed. Apparently my hard drive is "operating outside of normal parameters and should be replaced". I tried this twice, once with the Dell diagnostic software installed on my laptop and once using the downloadable diagnostics from the Dell website, both had the same outcome.
I then tried the system diagnostics accessed via the F12 key on system startup. Again all passed but the hard drive test which would not run and provided the following message:
Error code 2000-0142 validation 12985 Msg Hard Drive 0 s/n (omitted), self test unsuccessful status = 7
I have read around on the support forums that the next step to try is removing and replacing the hard drive then re-running the diagnostics. If this does not solve the issue and I have to replace the hard drive does that mean I will need to buy a new copy of windows to install on the hard drive, as my laptop came with no disks? I have backed up all my important files but obviously not any programs.
what my next steps would be and what the process is should I have to replace my hard drive? I am a "noob" in this area and don't want to spending uneccassary money on parts that don't need to be replaced or buying software I don't need to replace as it is already available if you see what I mean?
The dell support center PC Check showed my hard drive funnel seek test failed. Before I ran the PC check, the laptop flashed and shutdown. I restarted in safe mode and backed up all of my files, shut down the laptop again and restarted.
I am currently rebooting the laptop, and have inserted the Dell Diagnostics and utilities CD and testing my hard drive. the following error code keeps occurring..No additional sense information
Test Results: Fail Error Code: 0F00:1332 Msg: DISK - Block 4507 : Interrupt Request (IRQ) did not set in time
The same message also occurred with the following Block Numbers, with the same error code:
I am trying to fix my GF laptop model STUDIO 1535. This laptop is two years old or so. It was showing randomly blue screens on win xp sp3, so I checked forums and recommended to do a cleaning. I opened the lid, cleaned the fan ( it had a big ball of fur that prevented the fan to move) and cleaned the rest of the mb with the vacuum cleaner. Now it doesn't work anymore. I tried to disconnect and connect the HD but still the same error. I ran the diagnostic and gave me this error 2000-0141.
I own a HP Pavilion DV6-6160ev. Although I run the Hard Disk Test and all three tests (SMART Check, Short DST and Long DST) pass, the Hard Disk Error screen keeps coming up.
I have a HP 15 Notebook PC with no dvd drive recently I was sent the system recovery cds from HP. I dont have an external dvd drive. What i do have is a Toshiba Satelight laptop with Widows 7 and a good dvd drive. Also I have a 500 GB external hard drive. I was thinking maybe I could copy the disks onto the external harddrive with the Toshiba dvd drive. Then attach the external hard drive to my HP 15 Notebook by usb port and install Hp recovey disks from the external hard drive.
how to troubleshoot the Hard Disk (3F0) error message.
3F0 can be caused by 3 things
1. Bad hard drive or partition structure, erase the entire hard drive then use HP recovery discs to attempt reinstall of the OS and all partitions.
2. Bad hard drive data cable that connects it to the motherboard, replace the cable
3. Bad sata controller on the motherboard replaces the motherboard or laptop.
Now, the first step, is to test the Hard Drive out in the BIOS if you can get into it.
You will need to boot up the notebook and press F10. If you can get into the BIOS you will need to run the self-test. Here is a document showing you how to run the test. If you can't get into the BIOS I would suggest removing the HDD and then try getting into the BIOS again. Once you remove the HDD boot the notebook up again and press F10. If you can get into the BIOS, then the HDD is bad.
Here is a video showing you how to remove the HDD:
I cannot boot into Windows anymore. The error - Error auto-sensing internal hard disk, no bootable device available' comes up.
I've removed & reinserted the disk tray but the error persists.Even in the BIOS the hard drive doesn't show up and cannot be detected by Diagnostics either.
I removed it from the laptop and connected it to my desktop and its working fine. So my guess is the problem is not with the disk. The laptop is out of warranty.
I would like a big hard drive, but it seems like those bigger than 750 GB are 12 mm, not 9 mm. But can I use that as a secondary hard drive on the Precision?
Dell Inspiron 15Z model 5523 laptop less than 2 years old. Locked up during a Windows update. Refreshed it and lost all my programs. Downloaded Firefox accidentally from a bad site and it was bundled with malware. So I refreshed the laptop again. Had everything working and then later that day it just quit. Locked up and when I rebooted, it said no hard drive could be found. I have a new hard drive, but how do I get my Windows 8 (paid for with the computer) and a boot disk from Dell?
My laptop suddenly hanged. When I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Del, the menu did not come on. When I repeated, it did not shut down. I manually shut down the laptop. When I restarted, it said cannot find hard disk drive and no bootable devices.
Someone checked it out and they say the drive has crashed. Is it possible the links are loose? Is it possible to recover data from drive?
internal hard drive disk not found; no bootable devices; start up repair finds no solution..... I have reseated the hard drive several times. the computer runs extremely slow. Dell Data Safe had recommended replacing the hard drive ''couple of months" ago.
