View 2 RepliesI got a hp Pavilion g6-2005sd laptop and I have some freezing issues. My laptop is lately randomly shocking. The screen is freezing and continues normally. But if I run multiple tabs browsing the net it is more frequently. I have run some tests with hp of hardware diagnostics and hard drive errors. But I don't know how to fix it. I got the error : [URL] .....

I am wondering what my options are. My PC is still under warranty and I would prefer to not lose the data I have on this hard-drive.
how to troubleshoot the Hard Disk (3F0) error message.
3F0 can be caused by 3 things
1. Bad hard drive or partition structure, erase the entire hard drive then use HP recovery discs to attempt reinstall of the OS and all partitions.
2. Bad hard drive data cable that connects it to the motherboard, replace the cable
3. Bad sata controller on the motherboard replaces the motherboard or laptop.
Now, the first step, is to test the Hard Drive out in the BIOS if you can get into it.
You will need to boot up the notebook and press F10. If you can get into the BIOS you will need to run the self-test. Here is a document showing you how to run the test. If you can't get into the BIOS I would suggest removing the HDD and then try getting into the BIOS again. Once you remove the HDD boot the notebook up again and press F10. If you can get into the BIOS, then the HDD is bad.
Here is a video showing you how to remove the HDD:
I have a disk error on my XPS15Z. I ran a diagnostic and got:
Error code 2000-0142
Validation 534
Msg: Hard Drive 0 - S/N WD-WX11EC1F3775, self test unsuccessful. Status = 79
Do I have to replace my hard drive and if so, can I send it to get replaced? I am still under warranty.
I am trying to fix my GF laptop model STUDIO 1535. This laptop is two years old or so. It was showing randomly blue screens on win xp sp3, so I checked forums and recommended to do a cleaning. I opened the lid, cleaned the fan ( it had a big ball of fur that prevented the fan to move) and cleaned the rest of the mb with the vacuum cleaner. Now it doesn't work anymore. I tried to disconnect and connect the HD but still the same error. I ran the diagnostic and gave me this error 2000-0141.
Should I change the mb, the hd, the hd connector?
There's a "disk read error occured" when I startup and it won't boot into windows at all. I did a hard disk test in BIOS and the Short DST failed and the failure id is GTU23F-5QF788-XD6V5F-60UR0 for Hard Disk 1. I know there's an 80 SSD and 750 HD but which one failed?
If the ssd failed can I use the 750gb HD or does it need both?
If I do need to replace the SSD can I replace it with a regular HD (on a budget) and what size drive do I need? 2.5?
I cannot boot into Windows anymore. The error - Error auto-sensing internal hard disk, no bootable device available' comes up.
I've removed & reinserted the disk tray but the error persists.Even in the BIOS the hard drive doesn't show up and cannot be detected by Diagnostics either.
I removed it from the laptop and connected it to my desktop and its working fine. So my guess is the problem is not with the disk. The laptop is out of warranty.
I cannot log in on my hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc, it is giving me: A disk read error occurred; Press ctrl-alt-delete to restart,!prompt.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently I began having problems upon starting up my HP Pavilion g6 series laptop. I would get a disc error that would require me to restart with "control, alt, delete." It has now gone to giving me Hard Disk errors 303 and 305. I've been looking around on these forums and it appears that I'm looking at a harddrive getting ready to fail.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium with an Intel i7-2620M CPU @ 2.70GHz with 6GB of RAM and it's a 64 bit operating system.
Am I correct in assuming that the hard drive is getting ready to fail? If so, how do I replace it and what do I replace it with?

Then the screen goes blank, but it is still on, you can see bluish light on screen. Any way I hit escape during on and got the screen with options. I ran the run in test and start up test. Both came back with hard disk short DST. Failure. The smart check passed anyway the failure I'd is 64x950-6h9783-mfpx0k-60uc03.

Fortunately all his documents and photos have been copied to an external drive, but unfortunately he has no system image or restore disk or Windows 8 intallation disk.
Is there anywhere on the net where I can get an ISO image to burn a Windows 8 insallation disk or can HP supply a restore disk preferably to restore the laptop back to factory settings.

I have a Pavilion dv7 1245dx with Windows Vista 64 Bit bought 2009 at Best Buy. It slid off the arm of the couch onto a carpeted floor while shut down. Next day started ok, got into yahoo, facebook, then kind of froze up. Eventually, would not do anything, manually shut it down, started it back up. Black screen, 'No Bootable Device-Insert Boot Disc And Press Any Key'. It will not accept recovery discs that I made after purchase. Start up test ok, memory test ok, hard disk failed 'Boot Drive Not Found'. Caps lock light is blinking. I saw something in a forum about resetting or reseating the hard drive but no explanantion how to do it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Pavilion M6 1045DX laptop and the HD crashed. It was 750GB so off to eBay I went to buy another one. I decided to buy a NEW SEALED HD so I bought a blue label WD brand new. (March 2014) Just for grins I wiped and verified the drive and it passed. I temporarily installed a 40GB hard drive to build the machine while I was waiting for the new drive figuring I would just clone it when it arrived. When I went to clone the test drive to the new drive I received an error about block sizes. I use the Apricorn DriveWire and have seen this on a rare occasion. I thought maybe a different cloning software would work but to no avail. Same error.
Rather than fight with it I decide to put the new 750 drive in the laptop and build it all over again. This is when I received this error.“Windows setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware”So, I grabbed another blue label 160GB WD drive and it installed Win 7 fine on the laptop. I then took the 750GB drive and installed in on an old IBM T61 and it too installed fine. I also installed the new 750GB drive on a Dell inspirion N5040 laptop with complete success. Why the new 750GB WD drive gives me this error on "only" the HP Pavilion M6? This laptop doesn’t have RAID and was NOT Built for windows 8. It came with Windows 7. And yes I’ve reset the bios back to factor standards!
I just bought the Probook 4710s 5 days ago, and some times when I try to start the computer, it just wrights on the screen Non system disk or disk error, please replace and press any key... I don't have any CD or DVD in CD/DVD unit or any USB keys... when I try to scan the hard disk it reports to me No hard disk found. Every now and than it starts Windows normaly, but it keeps repeating frequently the same boot problem and not beeing able to start my comp.
Does it mean that the hard disk is bad or broken, or it will be soon...or what? Should I return the laptop and ask for replacement?
i have a hp 620 notebook, and it is given me an error message "non-system disk or disk error" after i turned it on. it had worked find in the morning and now it is displaying this error message and i cannot log into my notebook. i tried to recover it with hp recovery but it said "data is not valid.

My laptop shows me a blank screen after the windows bar loading screen. It did an automatic test on my hard drive to fix files, but when I restarted, it still would keep doing this test. I've tried to use a Windows Vista Upgrade/Recovery, but there is no backup and it keeps giving me an error on all types of restoration. I have just tried the Hard Disk Self Test and it says that there is an error #1 - 04 Fail. From what I've read in the forums, I will likely have to replace the hard drive, but how to recover the files from the old drive and what kind of drive I need to replace.
