My HP Pavilion G6 laptop fails to load Windows. The HP UEFI diagnostics for hard disk failed the Short DST test with failure code GU754F-6PK7GW-MFPWXG-60TQ03. Does this mean I have to replace my hard drive? My laptop's product ID is E3D62EA#ABU and I have Win8.1 64-BIT installed on it.

My computer was working just fine last night, and then today everything was running slower and things started to freeze up sometimes. I inicially thought it was just Google Chrome as it seemed fine until opening that up, but then everything was slower, so I restarted the computer and ran the start up diagnostic and the hard disk short DST failed giving me the failure ID of 9U0K9R-66X77D-QFPK1G-60QL03. Does this mean my hard drive is failing and I need to replace it?My computer is a HP Pavilion dv6 7010US entertainment PC with product ID B5S11UA#ABA
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy hp pavilion g7 froze yesterday after saying it couldn't connect to internet. I have tried to reboot. The hp logo comes on and then dot circle for about three min. Then the screen goes blank, but it is still on, you can see bluish light on screen. Any way I hit escape during on and got the screen with options. I ran the run in test and start up test. Both came back with hard disk short DST. Failure. The smart check passed anyway the failure I'd is 64x950-6h9783-mfpx0k-60uc03.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Pavilion dv7 1245dx with Windows Vista 64 Bit bought 2009 at Best Buy. It slid off the arm of the couch onto a carpeted floor while shut down. Next day started ok, got into yahoo, facebook, then kind of froze up. Eventually, would not do anything, manually shut it down, started it back up. Black screen, 'No Bootable Device-Insert Boot Disc And Press Any Key'. It will not accept recovery discs that I made after purchase. Start up test ok, memory test ok, hard disk failed 'Boot Drive Not Found'. Caps lock light is blinking. I saw something in a forum about resetting or reseating the hard drive but no explanantion how to do it.

I have the Dell XPS L501x and am now getting a failed message when the SMART Short Self Test is run. The message says:
"Your drive indicates that a failure may be imminent. Backup all important files and replace drive."
The hard drive is SAMSUNG HM640JJ.
A couple of questiions please:
1. I take if that this is a legitimate error message as opposed to some system glitch.
2. If I buy another SAMSUNG HM640JJ drive how can transfer the data from the old to the new.

View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently I began having problems upon starting up my HP Pavilion g6 series laptop. I would get a disc error that would require me to restart with "control, alt, delete." It has now gone to giving me Hard Disk errors 303 and 305. I've been looking around on these forums and it appears that I'm looking at a harddrive getting ready to fail.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium with an Intel i7-2620M CPU @ 2.70GHz with 6GB of RAM and it's a 64 bit operating system.
Am I correct in assuming that the hard drive is getting ready to fail? If so, how do I replace it and what do I replace it with?

Fortunately all his documents and photos have been copied to an external drive, but unfortunately he has no system image or restore disk or Windows 8 intallation disk.
Is there anywhere on the net where I can get an ISO image to burn a Windows 8 insallation disk or can HP supply a restore disk preferably to restore the laptop back to factory settings.

I have a HP 15 Notebook PC with no dvd drive recently I was sent the system recovery cds from HP. I dont have an external dvd drive. What i do have is a Toshiba Satelight laptop with Widows 7 and a good dvd drive. Also I have a 500 GB external hard drive. I was thinking maybe I could copy the disks onto the external harddrive with the Toshiba dvd drive. Then attach the external hard drive to my HP 15 Notebook by usb port and install Hp recovey disks from the external hard drive.

Yesterday while I was working on my Laptop It was restarted and Bios (setup) screen was shown. After this when I try to boot my laptop it shows blank (black) screen forever (no errors shown).
When I diagnose my laptop, I got Hard Drive Short DST Failure . I have called HP service center and they were telling to replace the hard drive.
But I have some many important files and documents in my laptop. is it possible to recover my files using some method?

I have a Dell Inspiron N5110. The Warranty ran out in July of last year so for some reason I cannot email technical support directly.I ran the Dell PC Diagnostic test earlier today, all of which passed with the exception of the SMART Short Self Test which failed. Apparently my hard drive is "operating outside of normal parameters and should be replaced". I tried this twice, once with the Dell diagnostic software installed on my laptop and once using the downloadable diagnostics from the Dell website, both had the same outcome.
I then tried the system diagnostics accessed via the F12 key on system startup. Again all passed but the hard drive test which would not run and provided the following message:
Error code 2000-0142
validation 12985
Msg Hard Drive 0 s/n (omitted), self test unsuccessful status = 7
I have read around on the support forums that the next step to try is removing and replacing the hard drive then re-running the diagnostics. If this does not solve the issue and I have to replace the hard drive does that mean I will need to buy a new copy of windows to install on the hard drive, as my laptop came with no disks? I have backed up all my important files but obviously not any programs.
what my next steps would be and what the process is should I have to replace my hard drive? I am a "noob" in this area and don't want to spending uneccassary money on parts that don't need to be replaced or buying software I don't need to replace as it is already available if you see what I mean?
Pavilion G7-1017cl: extremely slow booting - diagnostic test showed short DST failure ID: 9FU77V-5JD79K-XD0147-60TL03; PRODUCT ID: LF181UA#ABA. Is this the HDD, or video? I can access thru safe mode OK, but have issues booting up normally.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought an XPS 1530 four months ago. I went through 4 hard drives - one would fail, Dell would send a replacement ... that was the cycle. After #4 Hard Drive failed (and a tech came out to try and replace the motherboard & hard drive without success), I finally got them to agree to a "System Exchange"..
They sent me a new XPS 1530 - within 2 days the Hard Drive died! (#5)..
Anyone have any ideas (besides bad luck) of what could cause 5 failed hard drives in two different brand new systems?..
Electrical? I used the laptop at home and at my office. My office is a rented space inside another company's building.
I thought maybe electrical, but I use my old laptop their (Dell Inspiron 6000) and it has been fine. Unless something electrical causes a problem in the XPS only for some specific reason.
I have no idea, but does anyone have any "out of the box" explanations for me?
Dell is sending me a box so I can mail this 2nd laptop in to the Dell Depot for inspection and repair. My faith in the XPS 1530 is zero.
Any ideas or advice?
My xps 1530 is about a year old. The hard drive has failed 3 times now. The first two times I got a bit of advance warning with blue screens and error messages. This time no warning.
Rebot and error message that hard drive can not be found. I tried reseating the drive a few times and nothing. I have the solid state hard drives.
Is this a problem of the hard drive or the lap top? Can I request a regular hard drive from dell this time?
