I've been expecting a problem recently; when I turn off/restart my Inspiron 7720 and I press F2 to load the BIOS, I notice the bar fills but it continues and loads windows normally. I tried updating the BIOS from A10 to the newest A12. If i press F12 for boot options it works fine, it's only when I press F2 for the BIOS.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have new Dell Inspiron N4050 with pre-installed Windows 7. It has five partitions with are as follows:-
1) Dell Utility 41 MB FAT
2) OS 5.4 GB FAT
3) 310 GB ext 4
4) Extended 4.2 GB
5) 4.2 GB Swap ...
There is only one partition which is useful to me with a storage of 310 GB. But, I want 4 useful partitions. I don't need any recovery partition etc.
Today suddenly when I press the power button laptop wont turn on at all. It is also plugged in.
I hear people saying when this happens they say remove the battery and hold the power button for 15 seconds but the battery is built in and not removable
Any way my laptop is just 5 months years old and what might causes this problem now?
Am using Delll N4050 more than a year, now am facing some shutdown issues.
Computer details: My Laptop shipped with ubundu and I installed windows 7 home premium.
Processor: Intel core i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30 GHz
System: 64-bit
Problem: For past one year it was working fine but now am facing shutdown issues. When I shutdown my laptop it's not shutting properly (i.e.) power led keeps glowing and fan keeps running until i long press power button to shut it down. But restart works fine. Same problem occurs when I put in sleep mode and hibernate mode.
I have Dell inspiron N4050, I was attempting to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and after installation, it restarted I get an error blue screen that reads: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS.

I am using 2012.0815.2143 version of catalyst control center which was default download available from the dell support center for my laptop model. The problem i am experiencing is that whenever i switch powerplay to maximize performance my GPU temp just increases to 90C, seems like fan doesn't work and system powers down due to maybe thermal shutdown. But when powerplay is set to maximize battery life the temperature remains fine and i can play games fine.In maximize battery life core runs at 300Mhz only which is not good heavy games.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe touchpad of my Inspiron N4050 stops working properly everytime i plug my external HD that is AC powered or the HDMI cable. It doesn't matter if the AC of the laptop is connected or not, the touchpad becomes impossible to use. I tried using it in other places thinking of an energy problem at my place, but it still occurs. Other laptops work normaly with the external harddrive and the HDMI.

When i press the power button on, the display remains black though the fan and dvd writer works . this is followed by 7 beeps . The First beep is loud and remaining 6 are short beeps. Beeping repeats untill i press the power button. My laptop is only around 6 months old.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Dell Insipron 15R 5520 Laptop Windows 7. Last few days I am getting a long beep sound after I pressed the power button and the Dell progress bar loads. And if I press power button, its turning off. Later I've pressed F8 key to login in Wiindows Normal Mode, its opening Windows. So every time i've to press F8 key to login. Sometimes the beep sound continues and not logging in normal mode or in Safe mode.
I thought it might be RAM issue and I checked 'System Settings' in Control Panel, it shows the usable RAM is 2.77GB of 8GB.
I went to Dell laptop service center near by my location and they said its keyboard problem, they charging too much amount to replace keyboard. but my keyboard is working properly.
Basically I bought a Dell Inspirion 1525 with Vista, Downgraded to XP, had to change the Hard drive to IDA for the system to recognise XP. Been running fine then I pressed the MD button by mistake thinking it was the power button, it gets as far as 'Building you MD files' then says ''DMD cannot access your hard drive. This maybe because you have enabled Microsoft Bit Locker (Drive Encryption)'' etc etc. Now i'm hoping that means it hasn't wiped my HD cos i've read a load of people who've had problems with that button wiping everything out but i think it can't recognise my HD cos I switched it to IDA.
Anyways whenever I press the power button now it keeps loading MD and doing the same cycle and I can't load XP at all, tried loading it in safe mode and it crashes. PLEASE HELP ME!!! I can't get windows on at all and I really don't care about MD, infact when I can access windows again i'll be researching how to deactivate the MD button so this doesn't happen again unless someone can provide that info aswell
I have an E5430 that when the power button is pressed will not post every time. It is random. I get the power light only. Holding the power button down until it clicks off and pressing it again on the sixth or 19th time it will finally light off and post and head into boot. I have run the full diagnostics and no problems are found. The diagnostic finds no problems so I am wondering if this is a power button problem or something not tied to the MB. The same thing occurs with different batteries and power adapters.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy function key is always on so that I have to press it when I want it to be off. An example of this would be that I have to hit Fn+Alt+F4 if I want to close a window. I believe this has to do with me downloading a BIOS update for Windows 8 but I cannot find how to disable it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone experienced a problem with Acer notebooks where when the user presses any key on the keyboard, the touchpad gets disabled? The 8940G we are reviewing has this problem and I have never seen this happen before. When the touchpad stops functioning the little Synaptics status thing on the taskbar still shows the sensitivity blob when you finger presses the touchpad. This tells me it is still working but something else is interfering.
I have looked around the Synaptics menu for anything relating to this feature and found nothing. I disabled the "hide cursor when typing" feature in Windows already and that didnt fix it.
