View 3 RepliesRecently my Aspire 9113 started producing screen corruption during the boot process, looking something like an old version of space invaders, (text mode blocks) and then a hatched pattern in XP. It also would crash with a BSOD driver error related to the video driver. I removed the driver (FX Go7600 card) and at least the computer worked with the exception of the screen being slow to render.
I subsequently decided to investigate the BIOS and as a random act of faith decided to reset the BIOS to default settings. Since this, when the machine boots the screen is blank(black) during POST and XP boot up. I can still login to XP so I assume that everything else is OK.
As I removed the driver I don't think I can switch the display to an external LCD although if the card really is gone then I guess this wouldn't work.
I'm having some trouble with my laptop, for some reason it is able to pick up blank CD's but not blank DVD's,

I have tested this with two different routers and the results were the same, vista shows local access only

I have tried using drivers from laptopvideo2go and reimaging the computer, I am now fed up and want to get a new wifi car
Just swapped out my e6400 with the nVidia 160M GC fro a 6400 with the Intel card (due to heat issues).
I tried just swapping the hard drives so that I wouldnt have to reinstall the OS.
Its not letting me start Windows.
I think the issue is that I dont have the drivers on my older HD for the new motherboard/GC.
I have a brand new M4400, running W7pro x64. The M4400 came with an internal SD card reader. Now this card reader cannot read some standard SD cards (other work fine). Especially,
I have a Transcend SD 4GB 133x (http://www.bestpriceaudiovideo.com/i...ard-detail.jpg) that is problematic.
When I put the card in the reader, W7 tells me to format the card. This I do not want to do, of course. If I open Disk Management, it takes ages to open, and eventually shows the card as "Unallocated".
I've been having problems with my video card. (M1710 with a 7950GTX card). The card was overheating and even after applying AS5 and cleaning the vents it was reaching around 100c in games. After about a year, i started to also get memory parity errors...
Long story short, i contacted dell and they mailed me a new mb and a new video card.
I just got it now, and i am going to open the rig and replace the video card.. I am just not sure about the mother board, should i replace it as well ?
The parts that dell sent are refurbished parts, and as i know that my m.board is working i am not sure whether i should replace it or not.
i have a dell inspiron 1545and today i was trying to run a update and would not let me do anything till i paid out on antivirus softwere which i already have so i tried to restore the system back a couple of days now

My main uses with be photo-editing (Photoshop) video watching, and light-to-moderate gaming. Will there be a noticeable difference if I make the jump to 512? Are the any games that are playable on the 512 that are completely unplayable on the 256 (ex. GTAIV)?

I have an XPS M170, with the 7800GTX card installed. Been working perfectly for several months now then all of a sudden the screen went black, and I had to force a powerdown.
(I was only browsing the web at the time).
Turned it back on, and all that happened was the power light came on, the hard drive light flickered, then the DVD seemed to power cycle (the light came on and I heard it spin), even the XPS lights came on, but that's it, nothing else.
If I leave it alone, it remains in that state with no change, hooked up an external monitor to it, and nothing there either.
hope someone can help me here. Every time i turn on my laptop all i am getting is a blank screen on my laptop and my external monitor.
i am thinking of replacing the motherboard as the graphics card is aparrently soldered to it.Before i do this could the problem be any thing other than the card? I tried running dells screen diagnostic using the beep sound but there are no sounds at all and i cannot see any warnings or errors as all i have is blank screens.
Also if i change the motherboard when i switch it back on will i have video output straight away or will i have to configure anything first?
Her mum was using the laptop a couple of nights ago and the screen just went blank suddenly when she was browsing the internet.
She held the Power button in and turned it off as it was still running. When she tried to Start it up again the Laptop is starting up but nothing is coming up on the screen, The screen is staying completely blank,
Although when you hold for talk sake the Light of your mobile phone around 1cm away from the Screen you can see the Desktop of the Laptop. So basically the laptop is working but theres no light to light the screen up it just stays black as if it isnt turned on.
I Have Dell Inspiron 1564 i5 Edition And From Last 6 months It's Dvd Writer started Giving Problems. Initially It Used To Read Some Dvd And Other Shown As Blank But Now A Days It Doesnt Read Dvd At All.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLaptop: Dell Studio 1535, 4gig Ram, Windows 7 (with all recent updates).Over the past few days the screen on my laptop has started to flicker, then just go black all of a sudden. Sometimes i can still see the desktop but it is very very faint. I plugged the laptop in to an external monitor and the display on the monitor is fine, so i'm assuming there is a problem with the display on the laptop. I have done a bit of digging and all the connections internally seem ok, nothing loose.
If i replace the inverter (P927C), would the problem would be solved? Or would i need a new screen cable (P905C)? (or both)?
Whenever I switch on my Inspiron 6400, either via the On/Off or Media Direct button, the screen almost always goes blank within less than a second. I would like to reset the computer to its original factory settings via F8 or reinstall the operating system via F12 but cannot do so because of the blank screen. Occasionally, I hear the sound which accompanies the window screen a few seconds after switching the computer on; the computer will also sometimes whirr and the number lock and wife symbols will illuminate, all whilst the screen remains blank.
This problem first developed yesterday when I received the message "NTLDR is missing". With a bit of perseverance yesterday, I could eventually get the computer to work by repeatedly switching it on an off, but this no longer seems possible today. My computer has Windows Vista.
Inserted blank DVD to back up files.
Drive makes a noise then posts no CD or DVD inserted, although there is one there.
It will read both types of disc with data on them, but is totally unaware of blank media.
If I check the properties of the drive it shows the disc is full, even if it has already informed me of no disc inserted although there is one there..
Have tried the diagnostic software from Dell but does not flag any faults.
Basically, turned off my computer yesterday, and I turned it back on today, and it opens the dell loading screen, then the vista loading screen, then the screen goes blank, but the light is on but nothing appears on screen,
I also can hear the vista opening music from when the sign in page opens........
also when I boot in safe mode it works perfectly with no problems ??
My Dell Inspiron 1526 won't restore after hibernation.
After a recent Vista update the laptop was placed in hibernation mode before the normal 'restart to complete update' process. After a minute or so i press a button expecting to see a logon screen, instead the monitor was off, blank screen with no power.
I presss every button but nothing happened. After a restart the monitor remains off but i can still hear 1526 checking the cd drive. I restarted several times trying the Fn+F8 option with an external monitor and pressing the up button while holding Fn but still the same.
1526 appear to be in a wierd state because i placed a XP boot cd and restart then hit Enter several times. If the backlight or inverter was the only problem then 1526 would boot from the cd as normal though i wouldn't be able to see. It doesn't, it simply power up, checks the cd drive then does nothing.
Just two days ago I was using my laptop then turned it off like any other day. Later in the day I proceeded to turn it back on and received the dreadful 7 beeps with a blank screen. For the time that I've had it, I've taken good care of it, (never dropping it etc.) I have read on some of these forums that the 7 beeps could mean a bad motherboard/processor.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe DVD RW Drive in my XPS will not accept blank CD-R discs...I have not tried other formats eg. DVD-R. I ran the Dell self-inspection test. All passed except those for this drive. The message reported was 'unsupported'. I reran the same test and obtained the same result.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron 15R Windows 7. Set default power setting "Ballanced" but screen goes blank after 1 minute and 5 seconds not moving my mouse or depressing keyboard key on both battery power and plugged in. Screen should remain on 5 minutes on battery and 10 minutes plugged in. Tried resetting default power settings without success. Very distracting when trying to read anything that takes longer than 65 seconds.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new (month old) Precision M6800, I generally use it docked on my desk at work attached to two monitors via the docking station (I have confirmed via dell support that it is the correct model of dock). The laptop works fine attached to the dock, and fine on its own undocked.
However during the act of undocking (especially if the screen is locked, although this could be a coincidence) the laptop screen will often be left black. The laptop is still running, programs are still open etc. RDPing into the laptop shows all the programs still open and windows functioning fine. Plugging a monitor into one of the external ports will often solve the problem and bring the screen to life.
I have checked the bios version (it's a new model there has been no release) and the GPU drivers.
My problem is first i had clean my laptop yesterday with a cleaner for laptops l disable my laptop battery and clean it and put it with towel cover for two hours and i turned it on then the laptop work fine but the keyboard has a problem it type different thing than i typed then i disable it and put the keyboard under the sun for about 3 hours and the problem still founded then i open my laptop and extract the motherboard and i just clean it with caution with cotton and then put the motherboard in the laptop and connect all the wire with it thn i close the cover of laptop and turned th laptop on and just the fan run at full speed and the light works also the cd room but the motherboard not working my qustion is what the problem behind the full speed fan and blank screen is it a disabled hardware like cpu or gpu or ram...

When I put the 2GB card in, Windows Vista says it has to be formatted; at this point the card is already unreadable in the camera and must be formatted againg there.
If I try to format on pc, the process stops at about 90% with an error.
