i had a diagnostic of videocard and screen, every thing is OK. refresh drivers of video for the newest...but no result..
I have a dell M5030. When I power it up I see the dell logo with F2/F12 options. I can get into both of those, after that screen disappears it goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. I have tried various "fixes" that i can find online, from powering it down hitting f12 to try and boot from hard drive, nothing seems to work. I have ran the diagnostics fully and no errors come up, but I can not seem to get it to do anything. F8 does not work for me to try to go to safe mode.
View 3 Replies View Relatedtoday i tried turing on my laptop its a G56. and the hp logo came on after that i got a black screen with a white cursor blinking. now i tried the hard reset that did not work, there are no blinking lights. i also tested the hard drive and memory and everything passed. i also tride f11 system recovery and does nothing just goes to a black screen again. also a friend of mine has the same exact laptop i tried swapping hard drives to see maybe if it was my computer but his hard drive work fine on my comp. then i put my hard drive in his comp and did the same exact thing, black screen with the white cursor.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recent;y installed a version of windows on my Dell Laptop, Inspiron 6000. I worked for a week or two then when I turned it on a couple days ago, it won't go pass the black screen with the blinking white line. A user some where on this site on an other post that had similar problems said that it to re-install and delete the existing partition and create another one with 120GB. I did but when creating another partition, I tried to type in the 122880 MB (122880MB = 120GB), and upon pressing ENTER, the numbers 122880 goes back to the number of MB of the partition disk space I had previously. I hope this all make sense. I do not have the money to buy another laptop. I have a Windows XP CD, but not the original. The laptop worked fine before with this version.
To fix the blinking line on the start-up black screen, all I need to do is to re-install windows XP and change the partition to 120GB. But every time I try to change the number of MB, it doesn't work but reverts back to the original number. Is there another way to fix the blinking-white-line-on-the-start-up-screen?
Also, I tried to use the repair control...doesn't work.
I purchased an HP g62 notebook 2/12yrs ago I have not used it for almost a year. Problem it is having at first it was not charging properly I would get a message about battery being low and may need to be replaced I continued using it like that for like a month then one day I went to start it up this is what I got' blank screen,caps lock bli king 6 times then blink another 3 times then 6 times then 3 times repeated while the internet button is orange. The fan runs the CD opens, I just replaced the battery and new charger.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an HP g6-1325sa had an issue that had to replace the fan. However since then nothing will appear on the screen F12 has an orange light on and the caps lock continuously flashes every 2-3 seconds. This is not a blink code it does this continuously.So far i have tried blocking the vents and leaving the laptop running for over an hour as I heard it can be caused by dry solder joints.
I have also tried replacing the motherboard and have twice managed to get a cursor flashing on the screen however niether of these times could a normal boot happen as the HDD was disconnected on both of these occassions, the first time this happened i had just disconnected power and battery and held down power for 30 seconds, i'm guessing that was a cmos reset.
The only cause i can think of is that the processor was cooked when the fan was replaced but having already paid for another motherboard i'd like someone to confirm what it means when the caps lock blinks endlessly and if there is another way to repair it.
I have a major problem with my hp pavilion dv6-3143sa laptop.
I put it to a shop and they told me it was a motherboard/cpu problem and they couldn't source parts. I managed to get the parts. I put the motherboard first, but didn't work. I then added the cpu and put on thermal paste, but still didn't work.
My laptop will power on but I'm still getting a blinking light on the caps lock button and a black screen.
I have an acer aspire v3-571gOn trying to boot up my laptop by pushing the power button, the leds light up and the fan starts ( I can hear it spin) and the laptop starts but the screen remains black and does not even light up. The screen remains pitch black without any change at all.After force-shutdown 12 to 13 times, I rebooted my laptop and the screen suddenly started working.This happened once before as well and I didn't think much of it untill it happened again. I don't understand why the screen randomly chose to black out and not respond until after several restarts.
I tried removing the battery, pressing power button for about 30 seconds, rebooting, starting without battery (with power source) and nothing worked. It randomly and unexpectedly started working (just like it had stopped).
The laptop was running hot. I cleaned the dust from the fan area. The battery is bad. I checked the volts on the charger which was 43v - bought a new charger that's 18.5 v. I wiped the ram and started with one and moved to different positions. I now have a black screen with the cap lock key blinking blue non-stop and the f12 key led light is constantly on orange. What I should try next and what does the cap lock led blinking without stopping means - is that a code or have a significance?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a compaq presario CQ61-420US with similar problems below, except I have a black screen, fan turns blinking lights are the same (num lock and cap lock) but they are flashing continuously every second or 2. I have tried the hard reset with the ram fix, connecting an external monitor, changing the battery, and the power adapter to no avail. I also used compressed air on the vents just in case was stuffed with dust since it will overheat and may cause problems, but nothing.
One option I can think of is purchasing a new MotherBoard, but I'm trying anything else before that.

Most of the time the laptop will not boot up and I get the single blinking LED on Caps Lock and Num Loc. However, if I am persistent and keep trying the start button it will boot up. After it boots up every thing works fine. I can even do a restart and it will stop and boot back up. But if I do a shutdown then I will have to push the start button several times (it will come up with the single blinking LED on Caps Lock and Num Loc) before it will boot up again.
I have a problem with my Compaq Presario CQ61-325ED. It won't boot. What I see is a black/blank screen, with the numlock and capslock lights blinking twice every couple of seconds.
According to the blink codes, it seems the BIOS has been corrupted [URL] .... Sadly, no adequate solution is given on that page.Win + B or Fn + B at startup does nothing, pressing all the arrow keys gives me a continuous blinking pattern (edit: I can't seem to replicate this anymore...). I have also tried creating a bootable USB-stick with a BIOS update, but I don't think I have done it correctly, for it never gets activated (the light on the USB never turns on).
Also, removing/resetting the RAMs or just one of the RAMs does not work. Neither does removing/resetting the CMOS battery. How to successfully create a bootable USB-stick with BIOS update for CQ61-325ED?
when i first got this laptop i noticed that the screen was distorted and there was red lines everywhere and the screen was shaking abit. so i contacted dell and they sent me a repair guy to fix it. he fixed it in about 15min by pulling apart the laptop and replugging in the screen. but now its happening again. so i think the thing that plugs in is loose or somethin. so what do u think i should do out of the following options.
1. open it myself and replug it (im a noob and will try remember best what he did)
2. get techinician to come in again (bothersome as i have school)
3. ask dell for a replacement laptop.

I just bought a brand new Sony Vaio VPCF11M1E and I have the following problem:
Because in normal stand the screen is very small, I enlarged it to x150%. Everything becomes bigger, but the following parts are blurry and absolutely not sharp:
-Pop ups, of programs and of windows itself (like advanced settings of something and then a new windows pops up, that one is then totally blurry; you can read it, but it is not the good resolution)
-Google chrome (and with that, all the internet pages)
-The google chrome on the desktop is also very blurry, while all the others, are still sharp (after the enlargement by 150%)
I have tried everything (32 bits colours is on, cleartype is on). I also did a system restore to the first days I bought the laptop and then it was on 100% so the resolution was excellent, but then I put it on 150% and again, the parts I mentioned above, were blurry.
i broke my lcd screen a few days ago and i got a replacement from ebay. i installed it but i can see the image on my screen but it is verrry dim. there's no back light. so i put the old screen and turned it on and the back light is very bright but the lcd is cracked and messed up. i don't understand how could that be that the new screen is dim and the old one still is bright but messed up.

The HDD LED is constantly blinking with one second frequency. I'm using WIN XP, this blinking can not be seen in BIOS, but I can see it with a Live XP, and it's also blinking when XP install starts,
but there are not any processes.Because of the mentioned reasons, this could not be because of indexing, or pagefile (additionally I have tried to turn them off, and blinking remained)
I've reported this issue to Dell, and the HDD was replaced, but I still can experience the blinking.
My battery light was blinking tonight when I plugged my Inspiron 1420 in to charge it.

About three weeks ago, I came in to the machine to begin my day. The machine had been plugged and charging through the night, status=Hibernated. This is my common practice. I immediately noted the Charger light on the hinge was blinking alternately white then three or four quick red blinks rather than the usual steady white when the charger is plugged in.
I interpreted it as some sort of alarm; but after an exhaustive look, running diagnostics, searching DELL website and viewing the User manuals, I cannot find an answer.
· I checked the Windows 7 battery app and the DELL Battery Meter and “Battery Health” showed the battery to be performing normally.
· I went to DELL support and ran the battery diagnostics which were OK.
· The problem is seen always several hours of charging with no activity; and it is intermittent. It has happened several times since the first time. It happened again this morning.
· I made the assumption that the red light was a warning and the battery was failing or in trouble – no.
· Then I thought it might be due to overcharging. If so, shouldn’t the problem be every time I leave it on overnight?
· Note my solution: If I unplug the machine and go on battery power when the red light is blinking and do work on the machine, when the battery goes down 10% or so, the red blinking light stops.
· My machine is otherwise working well.

I seem to always have some sort of activity with this light, even when I'm not accessing the HD or when I keep the computer idle. Does anyone have any clue why this is happening?
Autoplay is disabled, nothing is downloading and only ESET is on but temporarily has features disabled.

it was working. i was in the middle of install windows and then all of sudden blue screen of death and then now this. at first all that was happening was no image at all on screen and the number lock led was flashing and the other two lite up.

I just got a brand new Studio 15 laptop a couple of days ago. So far, I love it, but there's one really odd thing. All day, the mute and volume up buttons have been blinking, and the volume down button has just stayed lit. There does not appear to be any reason for them to be doing this. Also, it's not affecting the buttons' performance. Does anybody have a theory as to why it's doing this? And is there any way to make it stop?
