View 4 RepliesI'm planning to do a mod on my latitude E6400, so if anyone with an M1330 would answer these questions, that would be great. I can't seem to find concrete info anywhere.
Are the touchpad in the 1330s all Synaptics, or a mix of Synaptics and Alps?
How big is the surface area of the touchpad (width x height) ....

7" touch screen w/ digitizer... its about 6.5" x 4.09", just the right size for the palm rest on the right of the builtin touchpad... ( i never use the fingerprint reader anyways)
its about 1mm in height, so putting it there shouldnt scratch the screen (i have a screen protector anyways... or i could get a spare palm rest part and make a large hole to put the touchpad in..

Circuit board is small enough to fit into the expresscard enclosure, but the height might be a problem... might as well remvoe the entire expresscard enclosure since i dont use expresscard... wonder if expresscard pins are compatible with usb pins... otherwise will need a wire sticking out of the expresscard slot to connect to the USB(or further mod a wire internally between expresscard slot to usb on motherboard...
I have owned my Dell M1330 notebook PC (specs in signature below) for over 4 years. Several weeks ago, the left and right-click touchpad buttons stopped working. The touchpad itself seems to be operating normally. I surmise I inadvertently deactivated the touchpad. I checked the manual, but it did not reveal how to reactivate (or deactivate) the touchpad buttons. How to reactivate the touchpad buttons, such as using the shortcut keys? I read one post in a PC forum of a similar situation; in that situation, the user's touchpad cable had come loose, but I understand this is a rare occurrence. How to reactivate the touchpad left and right-click buttons.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just installed 178.13 (vista x64) drivers for my m1330 and it's got FAR FAR slower in any games I run on it.....
Got the drivers from laptopvideo2go as the Dell one's are really old- how comes these newer one's do not work with the M1330?
I am hoping someone can point me to a driver to get me out of trouble. Have tried a few and spent plenty of time rebooting in safe mode to roll back.
I have a M1330 and have installed XP on it. It has been running a dream for 8 months but I have just hit a snag.
Where can I download Windows 7 drivers for the xps m1330? All I see in the drivers sections are for vista. Will Vista 64bit drivers work?

Recently I've been having trouble with my M1330's GPU overheating. It's been idling at 70-85C and can sometimes get past 100C when under load.
Since I'm going to be in Japan for the next few months, it doesn't seem like there's a simple way for me to send my laptop in to get a new GPU or motherboard, if that's the issue.
So I've been trying various things to try to reduce the temperature. I bought an aluminum laptop cooler with 3 fairly large fans on it, but it hasn't had any significant effect.
I also downloaded the latest BIOS, since I heard that the newer ones increase the fan speed.

Best Touchpad/Trackstick Driver Solution for Dell Laptops with Non-Multitouch ALPS
I think it's pretty clear that Dell's ALPS drivers for Windows 7 suck ......
Was having an issue on bios A12 (I think it was) with the brightness (function keys were not adjusting it properly), so updated the bios to A15 and the latest intel drivers as advised. (have intel, not nvidia).
Now the screen on boot is either blank or with only blue lines.
Can hear it booting into windows so the system on the whole seems fine.
Have got it working successfully on an external monitor via the vga port. I have tried to reapply the A15 bios and reinstall the intel drivers but not changed anything. The display properties in windows shows the laptop monitor as stuck on 640x480 and low colours. screen is off on 640x480 and if upped to the only other option 800x600 gives blue lines.
Dear All
I've been using Dell Inspiron for more than 3 years. It had a nice touchpad driver with which i could assign shortcuts to all the four corners of touchpad (e.g., Maximizing a window, minimizing, closing, and running a special application etc.). Now i m used to those shortcuts but they are not available in the new drivers of Dell Latitude D830, that i recently got. Can anybody point to the D830 touchpad driver having this facility or any free third party utility for that?
Thanks
I need Synaptic touch pad drivers for my DELL XPS L502X for Windows-8 Pro.
I cannot find those in the official dell drivers download page.
Without those drivers, my touch is not double touch to scroll up/down.
I actually have TWO 9-Cells, and they are both drain pathetically fast, whereas when I got it in August 2007, they lasted at least twice that.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have downgraded my HP 15-g019wm to Windows 7 from 8.1. I have found all the drivers but could not find the touchpad and ethernet port driver. I have tried looking for the synaptics driver but it was only available for windowd 8.1 on HP website and could not find a windows 7 driver.

View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if Dell modifies the video card drivers that they post on the driver download website specifically for their machines?
Or do they just download the latest drivers from the Nvidia webiste test on a particular machine for a little while and either pass or fail the driver for official use?
I recently installed windows 8.1. But i dont find drivers for bluetooth at in the list of drivers available at website.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI own a Dell 7520 and it has four 3.0 usb ports. However, I have discovered that one program I use does not support Intel 3.0 USB ports only USB 2.0 ports. So the only port that program will use is the Realtek USB card reader on the 7520 because that is a native 2.0 port.
According to a poster Innogen on the Intel support forum "The BIOS in my Dell Inspiron 7520 allows me to disable it so that the USB 3.0 ports revert to USB 2.0 functionality." but I can't find any such functionality in my BIOS (using version A06).

I tried uninstalling the Intel USB 3.0 drivers in WIn 7 Ultimate hoping that when I rebooted it would install USB 2.0 drivers but it simply reinstalled the USB 3.0 drivers.
I would really like to get this program working on my computer and while I am not happy about losing USB 3.0 functionality I can live with it until the vendor gets its act together and starts to support Intel USB 3.0.
Lately my laptop would freeze and I could see faint white lines only at the top of my screen. (lines do not go all the way down) This has happened twice in a day. Ctrl Alt Del doesn't work so I have to power down the system and it runs normal after that.
I'm really afraid its the dreaded vertical lines issues. I had my mobo + GPU replaced a year ago, still under CC warranty but its such a pain.
I am wondering if anyone know whether dell fixed the video card and heating issues (like many in this forum mentioned) yet?
I am very interested in this machine but I don't want to risk buying something that would burn out later. I am also interested in the new studio XPS 13 as well though I would love to know how it handles heat and the video card (i hate burned-out video cards..
i have been having problems with my xps m1330 ive had it for 3 years now and its been decent to me... 3 months ago when my warranty was up i sent it in to get the gpu and mother board replaced because of the warranty. Just recently it started acting up bad...
Would freeze left and right start running check disk when i tried to restart it...so i decided to reformat it seeing some scan i ran in dos was saying i was missing a system file. So i cleared the c drive and installed vista fresh... re-put my 60gb of music over and everything seemed fine for 2 days... not today it froze up on me ... i tried to restart and got a blue screen that flashed to fast to read and i tried to restart again and got a 2000-0141 error and alot of beeping and crap... so i restarted it and it was gone...
I've had my M1330 for about 1 1/2 yrs now. The first issue is that at one point 3 months ago,
I was being randomly electrocuted by my laptop when I placed my hand on the open space below the keyboard. About a few days after the random electrocution started, the battery died, and won't recharge at all.
Lastly, there is a constant whistling sound that was coming from the laptop ever since I bought it.
I'm out of warranty. Am I able to buy a new warranty for my laptop at this time or is it too late for me? And if it is too late, should I attempt to make repairs through Dell, or am I better off selling the laptop,
and then use the cash towards a lower pc, like those mini/EPC's that these companies are selling now?
Does anyone know if I can install 8 GB of RAM in my M1330? I now have 4 GB, but when upgrading to 64-bit I'd also like to add some memory.
I bought the computer in August 2008, and have the latest bios.
I think 800 MHz is the max speed I can use, does anyone know about any modules that will fit, if possible
First of all thanks to everyone who contributes on this board. The knowledge I gained is invaluable.
I upgraded from a T5800 dded Arctic Silver 5.
recently I've installed nVidea driver from MS windows update ,then the fan is always run, then I installed nVidea driver from dell support site, but still same thing. My bios is A09 ,
and have I to update my BIOS to A15 ? or keep it A09 ,because I thing it will afect the battery run time (i.e the fan need more energy and then battery need discharging quickly)
I recentley just formatted my M1330 and installed the AHCI driver but i am still getting BSOD right after the green bar on start up? The only way to get around this is to disable AHCI and enable ATA from the BIOS. Is there a solution to this
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new XPS M1330 on the way. I originally purchased a refurb. M1330 and had a few issues with it and dell agreed to build me a new(non refurb) one with same specs. (crimson,T9500,LED display,4GB's ram, vista ultimate etc.). In the meantime my company has ordered us new latitudes and I don't really see need to keep the new 1330. My question is, when it arrives should I not even open it and sell it either here or E-bay and my second question would be how much could I expect to sell it for ?
