The CPU temp is 60 C
The noise level is really high, not that high- but enough to annoy you if you work a lot with your laptop.
And that's when I'm doing almost nothing. Its starting right after booting the laptop.
i have an m1330 with nvidia graphic card for 6 months. my laptop used to run super quiet but lately the fan is almost always on... even on idle.
View 10 Replies View RelatedRecently my laptop became quite loud, rather noisy actually.
I do not know what happened, because now the FAN is spinning all the time.
If I boot up my system, the fan is already rotating very fast.
I flashed my BIOS to the newest version (A14) already.
I checked my hardware thru the Dell Diagnostic program and
apparently everything is working functionally.
From what I've read around here the black keyboard on the Dell Vostro 1400 (PN JM629) fits on the XPS m1330 and now I'm looking to buy it.
The problem is, this keyboard costs $49.99 on Dell. I have found it on ebay for $16 shipped on ebay, but the thing is, the ebay listing says:
"New high quality keyboard
100% manufacturer compatible
Equivalent Replacement Part"
The keyboard of my laptop doesn't work properly anymore. I can just use a few keys and delete and space don't work at all. this is after I installed the driver again. Before that it was like I'm pressing one key and getting two or more different letters. Maybe it is of some interest that a few weeks ago I installed win8.1 new.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFew keys in my laptop G560 keyboard is not working. I have done system restore, uninstalled and reinstalled driver nothing worked. I fear that it is a hardware problem.
Few number keys and space bar is not working. Other keys are working fine.
I am finding that the space key sensitivity on my new Y510P is not consistant, and that I have to really press down on the key for it to work, and despite this it does not always work. I have to go back then and correct where the spaces where not added. I tend to use the space bar with my right thumb clicking on the right 1/3 side of the space bar. When I use other keyboards including other Lenovo laptop products and this has not been a problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy wife got this HP G60-120us notebook computer. It's about two years old now. I'm planning on getting her a new laptop so I can get this one. The only thing that I really do not like about this laptop is the freakin mouse button. It's so loud and clicks so loud as well. What I'm using now is my old Dell laptop and I love the mouse button so quiet and smooth unlike the HP. Is there anyway to make this sound quiet? Like open it up and spray some WD-40? J/K, is all HP's like this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy HDD says I have 188 out of 451GB. I can account for most of it and I calculate I should have 100GB more.
My program files(x86) properties is 63.1GB, program files= 9.32GB, Documents = 23.5, music = 9.53. photos and vids are under a gig. Autodesk = 26.4GB. Windows = 23.2GB
Is anyone else experiencing real high fan noise while playing a game? Even with the sound on it's clearly hearable and really annoying and continues going.
As soon as I exit the game it's over, so it probably involves temp & CPU clock. My temps are about ~70C when I exit
The new XPS 3 Ubuntu 12 preinstalled laptop is making loud fan noise. Is there a way to fix it? If not, how do I return the laptop and get my money back?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just received my brand new XPS 13 yesterday and followed the quick start instructions. Plugged it in and pressed on the power button. As soon as the power came on, the fan started blowing and is so loud I cant believe this is normal. I decided to convert from my MacBook, so I'm new to Dell... is this normal? It's so loud, I can't ignore it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAny one know of tools to track down what is consuming space on a hard drive partition?
I am trying to provide remote support for my mother-in-law's Inspiron 8200. Last summer I put in a new HDD and maxed the RAM to get a couple more years out of it. I partitioned the drive into 10GB and 70GB. I installed Win XP home + all service packs and updates, prgrams etc. on C:.
I moved "My Documents" to the second partition, the drive letter ended up as E: for the second partition (optical drive is D. She only has about 3 GB of data so there should not be any issues.
She recently called saying that attempting to install TurboTax resulted in an insufficient disk space error. When I had her look into it, C: is almost full, 9.5GB used. This seems unreasonable to me. I have a couple of other laptops configured similarly and the OS and programs only take about 6.5GB. This lady is not one to install lots of stuff.
My daughter is there visiting so I had her read me the space taken by each folder in the C: partition. Adding up the numbers it seems that there is at least a couple of gig unaccounted for. Do I have to actually go into every folder to find any space hogs? Nothing I heard so far seems unreasonably large.
I am suspecting some kind of bug or spyware is creating a file that is consuming the space on C:. I had a problem with Zone Alarm 9 creating a ridiculous log file on one of my boxes but she is not running ZA.
E: has plenty of space only the 3GB of data in My Docs.
I am puzzled to see that part of my 320 gb 7200 drive is not recognized. A right click on C drive states that I have 282 GB left out of 297GB. I do not want to move forward with my install before accounting for this space. So...anyone have any advice?
As I have a Dell Studio XPS 1640 it has a a few of Dell specific driver I must install or I wil not have certain features. I am not thinking dock here. Bios ,chipset, IDT Sc. Windows grabbed the latest driver for the Radeon 3670 but not the Catalyst SW. Nor would I want it to. Has anyone dl'd the latest Catalyst suite? Any fellow xps owners out there test driven Dell's drivers on Win 7 pro yet?
I have a Dell Mini 9, and it is steadily and repeatedly losing what little disk space I have. I ran AVG and panda security and got nothing.
I've done disk cleanup and cleared the history, cache, cookies, and restore points. It's STILL losing space. It'll go up when I restart but then immediately start dropping.
There are no games or music or movies on this thing. I even took all my text files out. The only programs that were added after I got it were office, firefox, and avg.
I got a new laptop in about June or so, and it ran great. I have McAfee for anti-virus, if that helps.
About 2 weeks ago, my computer started to slow down. A lot. My typing would lag on the screen, and some of the letters won't even show up.
I also seem to get an insane amount of pop ups on whatever sites I go on, and I get about 5 popups every hour, on the hour. When I scan, though, I get nothing.
Now, this is the worst part. My computer will completely freeze a lot. When it does, I'll wait a minute to see what happens.
Then, if I click the screen a few times, a single, insanely loud beep will come from the computer. This will happen a few times before I can actually use my computer, and I have to re-boot often.
My computer is insanely slow, like I said before, and it takes forever for it to finish starting up. Half the time, it'll freeze before I can even log in.
If it helps, this started around the time when I signed up for Facebook, if that has to do with anything. I've tried to do virus scans many many times, and I used the Dell Automated PC TuneUp tool. But, nothing seems to work.
When my Studio 1537 is powered down, either through shutdown or suspend, it makes a loud beep just before it turns off
View 10 Replies View RelatedJust got my e6400. Thanks for the help selecting it over the past few months. I'm really happy with it apart from one small issue.
It seems that occasionally the fan runs at top speed and is pretty noisy in the process.
This happens even when the machine is idle. For example yesterday I was sat with nothing open on the table beside me whilst I worked on my T61p, and suddenly the fan starting running at full speed for 5mins or so.
I can't see any pattern to this, but naturally if there is a problem, I'd like to get it sorted out sooner rather than later.
when I click my spacebar especially near to its right end It clicks very loudly.
Can I safety remove spacebar and fix it by myself?
I've noticed that when I shut down the computer, just before everything turns off I hear a loud(ish) click from the back of the computer. Same sort of noise as when you turn on a light switch, maybe a little sharper.
At first I thought it might be the speakers, but not so sure. Anyone else have this? It might just be hardware turning off
I have a Inspiron 1300 that I want to upgrade it Hard drive. I found a site that offers 250 GB of space. The site says it for the Inspiron 1300 , but I wonder if that's true
View 4 Replies View RelatedI searched but couldn't find anything on this. I had an 8600 processor originally and got a QX9300 for my M6400. Nothing else changed (yet) and I'm running W7. The fan hardly spun up to an audible degree with the 86, but now with the QX I hear the fan all the time...
Is this normal? I mean, I know it's a quad core vs. a dual core and the clock speed is slightly faster (2.53G vs. 2.4G). But I can just have the laptop sitting doing nothing and the fan is kicked up pretty much all the time....
I had my dell 1530 xps laptop since june and recenty I been hearing a loud humming noise on the right side of the laptop. It sounds like its the hardrive humming loudly but then I put my ear on it and move up near the fan and it seems its making noise there also.
It comes on randomly, when im surfing the net its fine most of the time, when im running games, the computer starts this loud humming noise on the right side ofthe computer.
It can also start doing this when im just surfing the net. And what I noticed also is when the system starts to make the humming noise, the fans kick in atthe same time if its not spinning at the moment.......
is it just me or other people find it the speakers not loud enough?
i have tryd to change in control panel but not much different
On my (soon to not be my) 1536 I get really loud electrical squeals, kinda like interference that you would get on a phone. And I can usually hear it from across the room.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron E1505 with a Sony DVD+-RW DW-Q58A cd/dvd drive. I THINK I have a firmware/driver issue with it because of a weird problem I've been having lately.
I noticed a couple times when running the DVD-ROM of a new game, the disc spun up really, REALLY loudly. And, the disc won't autoplay (I don't know if that's related to the cd drive or not...autoplay hasn't been working for a while, now). For the most part though, the disc spins-up normally and the game runs just fine. The problem comes up everytime I quit the game -- the screen goes black as if going back to the desktop but seems to freeze .....
I was wondering if it is normal for the slot dvd drive to be extremely loud while installing microsoft office.
Not only is it loud, but it also vibrates!!! Yea, you heard me, the entire laptop was VIBRATING while installing office! Is that normal?
So ever since the technician came out and upgraded my processor from the i7 720 to the 820, the fan has been coming on louder and more frequently than when i first got the laptop. Any ideas as to why? Is this something that can be easily fixed?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI originally purchased my E1705 with a 60GB 7200RPM drive. I believe at the time it was mainly to save a few bucks and that the largest 7200RPM available may have been around 120GB and added $200 to the price of the machine.
I am constantly finding myself uninstalling applications and looking for things to delete to save space on this tiny little drive, it has gotten to the point that it is a hassle. I recently moved my music library to an external USB drive to free up about 20GB only to fill it again right away by installing Visual Studio 2008 and the MSDN Library.
I need more drive space!
I know there are a ton of options out there for drives which I can easily swap right into this machine but I am having a tough time trying to decide if I am willing to sacrifice the added speed of a 7200RPM drive for the additional space offered by the largest of the 2.5" drives.
I use this machine for everything, it is my primary computer so having the fastest available options is desirable. I frequently render digital video for the creation of DVDs and believe it or not I perform this function currently on external USB drives because of the space issues. Having th space to move this to the primary drive with the full speed interface will be a big plus.
