View 3 RepliesDell Inspiron 15Z model 5523 laptop less than 2 years old. Locked up during a Windows update. Refreshed it and lost all my programs. Downloaded Firefox accidentally from a bad site and it was bundled with malware. So I refreshed the laptop again. Had everything working and then later that day it just quit. Locked up and when I rebooted, it said no hard drive could be found. I have a new hard drive, but how do I get my Windows 8 (paid for with the computer) and a boot disk from Dell?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron N5040 doesn't start at all. Looks like hard drive has crashed. My service tag is 9XS8LT1.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe hd on my Inspiron 1545 has crashed and subsequently will not boot up. I have purchased a new hd and fitted it.
The recovery disks I have go through the local dell recovery routine but fail on the second disk. I only have the utilities cd from dell no other CDs.
I have windows 7. What I need to restart the laptop?
My high school-age son was working on an English paper when something fell off a shelf and whacked his Aspire 3680 right above the hard drive bay. It started clicking and finally crashed.
The computer won't run with the hard drive installed. It makes nasty clicking sounds trying to boot, and finally beeps and powers off. Without the hard drive, the laptop powers up and runs BIOS just fine.
We can buy a new hard drive, but it seems awful to pay Acer another $20 + $10 shipping for the Vista restore disk!
I own a HP G72-130SB Productnumber VY062EA#UUG

My hard drive has crashed. My restore DVd is damaged. I installed a new windows 7 64 bit.
Â
The graphics drivers (ATI HD 5430) is not installed. Can't find the driver. The latest ATI drivers don't work.
Â
I need the original. HP don't give support anymore on their website.
Only a page with specs of my laptop. No drivers.
I have a Latitude E6410. Hard Drive crashed. Bought a new HD, installed and installed Windows 7 Home Premium. Got no wireless. Looking at Device Function I see no driver for:
Broadcom USH
Network Controller
Unknown Device
What drivers do I need and where to find??
Using my inspiron 2330 (only 18mths old ) as normal next thing it tells me it encountered fault and has to reboot anyway it keeps saying scanning and repairing drive (c) then does not allow me to log in so i manage to get into bios to do a scan and it guves me a error code of 2000-0142 Â validation code of 112406 and and then says harddrive 0-s/n wd-wmc152946178
When i finally manage to log in my desk top screen is flashing and keeps telling my hard drive fault ....
Something recently happened to my laptop, and now whenever I boot up my laptop, I get a message stating that "No drive detected", and I don't know if the hard drive might be damaged or not.
I tried connecting the hard drive directly to a desktop pc since it's a sata hard drive, but my desktop pc just froze on the boot screen whenever this hard drive was connected.
I also was going to try and use a hard drive external case to maybe connect it to the pc this way, but I wasn't sure if it would work
I'm thinking of removing my DVD drive and replacing it with a caddy and hard drive as explained here.
I don't use the DVD drive very often and would much prefer a 500GB or 1TB hard drive in there. The DVD drive can then be used externally via the eSATA port using this cable.
The ideal solution would be to use this NewmodeUS caddy as it supports the larger 12.7mm 1TB 2.5" hard drives and has a removable faceplate. The problem is the price.
At $55 including postage to the UK plus customs, VAT and clearance fees on top it's going to work out pretty expensive for what is essentially a slimline SATA to SATA extension
I hate for this to be my first post, but after looking everywhere on the internet and on this site (I've been lurking a while) I'm still at the same place I started with my Studio 15 laptop. I'll try to include as much detail as possible.
I had my laptop plugged into my LCD tv via an HDMI cable as I often do, and when I went to close the laptop to use just the LCD, the tv flashed, showed a blue screen of death for a quick second and then went black. I opened the laptop and it was still on, but the screen wouldn't go on.
I restarted my computer and from there on out it kept making a beeping noise and stalling for a really long time at the "Dell Studio/progress bar" screen. After leaving it at that screen for a while the clicking stop and then it allowed me to access the Boot Options and Setup. Under setup, when I click on the drive under SATA hard drive, it shows something like 10GB and nothing more, and I have no options on the screen .....

I have been getting a random blue screen popping up every once and a while, that will "dump my physical memory" or something and then reboot itself after like 30 seconds. my hard drive was the reason for these constant errors. So I backed everything up, in preparation of a real crash. I am in the process of ordering a new hard drive from Newegg.com, and I would like to know if it is hard to replace a hard drive in a notebook, or if I should have Geek Squad do it for $50. Also, I dont think I have the Operating system disc that came with my computer, so how do I order that from HP and how much is it?And last but not least, Is there a post or video with instructions on how to install a hard drive and the operating system?
I have a HP 15 Notebook PC with no dvd drive recently I was sent the system recovery cds from HP. I dont have an external dvd drive. What i do have is a Toshiba Satelight laptop with Widows 7 and a good dvd drive. Also I have a 500 GB external hard drive. I was thinking maybe I could copy the disks onto the external harddrive with the Toshiba dvd drive. Then attach the external hard drive to my HP 15 Notebook by usb port and install Hp recovey disks from the external hard drive.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLaptop is an Acer Aspire 1640. 2.26GHz, 2gb RAM.
Laptop was working fine with the factory Hitachi HTS541680J9AT00 80gb drive.
I purchased a Samsung HM160HC 160gb drive as it's supposed to be the fastest PATA laptop drive available.
I put it in and the laptop just kept saying "no operating system found" with the XP disk in the drive.
I tried several optical drives and got the same issue with all of them.
I then hooked a USB optical drive up and it wouldn't boot from it.
I removed the internal optical drive and the system then booted from the USB drive and loaded Windows fine.
I just assumed it was a fluke and once Windows was done loading I removed the USB drive, installed the factory internal optical again and turned it on...
"No operating system found".
This is where I'm stuck. If I remove the optical the system boots into Windows fine. There were no issues like this with the other hard drive.
I have tried setting the hard drive as Master, Slave, and Cable Select with no change.
Laptop has the newest BIOS.
Samsung does not offer firmware updates on their hard drives.
who opened I believe Z and connected a hard drive to dvd drive connector while leaving dvd drive in for cosmetic reasons. Can't find this thread. Where exactly can the hard drive go? Inside the tray?
I am afraid there will be too much vibration if I put regular HD there. For this reason I would rather put there SSD but is there a way to make this a primary OS drive? Seems like last bios allows to boot from optical drive.
I cant find it on dell home website.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am thinking about getting a new DV4T and then upgrading the hard drive to an X-25 ssd, but obviously it'll only be 80GB which is an issue. I just read the NBR review of the DV4 and it seems that there is a special hard drive you can plug in into the optical drive bay to boost your storage space... i've been searching everywhere but I can't find the thing... anyone know where/if this thing does in fact exist and if it's compatible with the "new" DV4s?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a somewhat pleased (after months of displeasure) SXPS1645 owner *points to sig* but after 5 months of carrying this thing with me to my campus daily (and pretty much everywhere else I go) this machine is heavy and big and bit overkill since when I'm outside I rarely use it for video editing and gaming which I tend to do at home. So for the Fall(ish) I'm going to be in the market for an ultraportable, but after using this machine it's going to be hard to go to a machine with a wimpy atom processor or even a ULV C2D. So I found the Adamo XPS and it appeals to me in the same way the SXPS did, an eye catching design that isn't bulky and still performs well. However looking at the specs currently available for it I was disappointed. It's using a hodgepodge of outdated parts. I wanted to basically start a thread on potential component refreshes for the Adamo XPS, in the hopes that by the time I'm ready to purchase one some of these things will become reality. Also I'm curious about other brands of ultraportables (NOT netbooks) that people use/have used and would recommend.

They basically take it completely apart. Very interesting with lots of photos.
I was surprised to learn the battery can't be replaced by the user...
Apples and oranges, I know. I've done the "what should I buy?" FAQ and have had my options whittled down, and I'm between these two at the moment.............................................................
View 10 Replies View RelatedI really need your advise on which one to go with. I prefer to test them out at the store. Unfortunately, I can't find any locally.
Anyhow, I can get the Adamo Admire on Dell (the 1.4GHz version) for $899 (with $100 EPP discount).
The Vostro V13 for $700 (w/o SSD). In fact, if I go with the V13, I may get the base version to save even more, but just to make a comparison, let's consider the $700 version.
I don't use this laptop for much heavy work. I have the Latitude D630 for that. I like to add a sexy machine for documentation, web browsing, and business travel. Occationally, I will compile some C code, but not often .....

I am purchasing the original Adamo (not the XPS) with the following specs.
(Pearl) Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor Lv SL9600 (2.13GHz, 6MB, 1066MHz)
UK - Irish Internal Keyboard (QWERTY) - Pearl
45W Adamo (Pearl) Power supply with UK power cord
4096MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR3
Intel 5300 wireless card, 802.11 a/g/n
1.3 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera
13.4" (16:9) 720p WLED Display
Dell Bluetooth 370 Card
What is the graphics card?
And can you do some light gaming on the lowest settings?
Is anyone ready for the Dell Adamo 13 to be release..............................................
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to upgrade the ram from 2 to 4gb on the Adamo Admire.
can`t see why it wouldn`t be but i wanted to check.
I started out with a M1210 and than moved to a MB Air. I like the Air but i really want to come back to Windows so would you recommend the Adamo or the Adam XPS ?
I really like that Adamo XPS but what do you think of the specs ? Will it preform well ? Would it preform as good as my Air with 120 SSD, Nvida Card and 2 GB Ram?
It is even thinner than the new Sony Vaio X.
I thought my Nokia E51 was thin at 12mm but this Adamo is just 9,99mm!Really insane.Take a look at the following links:

This notebook is so vastly overpriced I do not know how dell can stay in business when coming up with new products like this. Look at this...
