The Brightness funtion Key is not working. But other function keys are working Properly...
I can't adjust screen brightness using either function key or in control panel. Using the function key the little panel of brightness volume shows up on the screen but does nothing. And in control panel, through either the bottom brightness scroll or the power option won't change anything. Only time when the brightness will change is I unplug the power, but in the power settings it won't let me change/adjust the brightness.
And what is the battery function key for? I press it and it does nothing. XPS L521x
I have XPS 15 (L501x) laptop. I cant adjust the brightness of my screen through the function keys(quick set) or from Control panel (Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsPower Options)I have already tried
Reinstalling quick set
Restoring
Reinstall Drivers from my Drivers CD
Chipset : Intel HM57
Video drivers : Intel HD graphics
I also tried to install bios drives, but the system would allow me, saying, its already the latest
I open this post to report a brightness problem on Lenovo Z500 Ideapad. Yesterday I've upgraded to OS Windows 8.1 and when I adjusted the screen brightness it goes off, and brightness adjust function doesn't works. I've solved my problem reinstalling the Intel video drivers, downloaded from Lenovo Driver Support.
It seems that Windows 8.1 upgrade disables video drivers.
I own an Ideapad Z-500 notebook running Win 8.1.After updating Intel graphic adapter from Windows Update the screen brightness adjust key (F11 and F12) stops working and I cannot adjust my scrren brightness.I have to uninstall it and disable Windows update to keep using my laptop.
Here are driver details.
Name: Intel Corporation - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.3 - Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

View 5 Replies View RelatedFor some reason the brightness on my lcd isn't adjustable. It's stuck at full brightness, on battery, on power, doesn't matter. I've had this laptop for about 2 weeks now. When I first got it, the brightness levels were working, but now they are not. OS is Windows 7 Home.
FN - Brightness Down brings up a on screen display showing the brightness level at full and goes down by about 1, though I see no different in the brightness. It doesn't matter how many times I press the button, it never goes down more than 1.
Control Panel -> Display -> Adjust Brightness -> Power Options: The slider at the bottom shows the brightness level at lowest setting. The FN - Brightness adjustment will move this slider up / down on the scale, but there is no change in the screen brightness.
Anyone have any ideas as to why I can not adjust the brightness and how I can get it back to where I can adjust it?
just brought acer aspire 4937G to replace my dead 5584(which the graphics card dead). so reinstall XP from old laptop to new one.
before i install the graphics driver, i'm able to adjust the brightness. but after i install the driver(latest from acer), i totally cannot adjust the brightness. is either very dim, or very bright.
i tried getting latest driver from nvidia, but during setup, only HD audio, dont have any display driver to install.
I just installed Win7, sticking as much as possible to this method:
VAIO FW Clean Windows 7 Install Guide
everything's working, all FN keys, volume multimedia zoom LCD out,
all but brightness.
problem is, using the FN keys, the brightness dialog is showing, but I can't increase or decrease it. brightness does not show up on power managment nor on mobilty center. the power plans from vaio ("VAIO optimized") are showing, but still if I pull the plug screen stays on maximum brightness...
Is there a way to adjust the brightness control on a Inspiron 13, 2 in 1, while in tablet mode?
I know how to adjust it using the keyboard in laptop mode but not in tablet mode.
Another problem on my Lenovo Thinkpad L520: After installing the Lenovo Power Management Driver, I can no longer adjust the LCD brightness by using the FN+DEL/POS1 keys. Immediately after adjusting the brightness, it gets reverted to its old value, set in the Power Management software.
I tried the Windows 7 driver (1.65.05.21) and the WIndows XP/7/8 driver (1.66.0.22), both with the same result.
This is really annoying and I am very frustrated with Lenovo right now, since this is not the only problem I am having with the laptop.
How can I adjust the brightness of my screen? I tried using f2 and f3 but no changes. HP 15-d024se.

My computer is HP ENVY 15-j175nr and my product numer is F7Q25PA#AB4.
it's that friggin electric sound when you adjust your screen's brightness. Not that the sound is loud or anything but it's so annoying. Even clean install of mac os didn't help.
And it's not the hard drive that's making the noise. It seems to be coming from top left corner. Blackbook is half a year old and it started to emit that friggin noise a month ago. So did anyone had the same or having the same problem and did anyone removed this god dammed irritating sound !
I have installed Windows 8.1 and install most of the drivers fro HP reccomended link. Even after that I am not able to adjust my brightness and WIFI .
View 5 Replies View RelatedI used my brightness down button once and now it won't go back up. I can't adjust the settings at all, despite the graphic on the screen showing me the meter going up and down. I've checked all drivers, tried uninstalling and reinstalling lenovo energy management, and I've still got nothing. I've stopped short of a factory reset because that's super annoying having set everything up and then a couple weeks after purchase have to do it again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a W540 with 3K Ips panel and Windows 7 Pro 64bit.
I recently installed a new hard drive and installed windows 7 pro 64 (previously on the other hard drive was Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit ( there I could change the brightness ) )
My problem is that I can not change the brightness .
I've already tried:
-Reinstalled all NVIDIA driver
-Reinstalled all Intel graphic drivers new
-Reinstalled Intel and Nvidia drivers simultaneously
-Remove Lenovo Power management
-Tried to install NVIDIA driver from the Lenovo and the Nvidia page
-Reinstalled Windows
I have installed Win 7 on Aspire E1-510 (Celeron quad Core N2920).
I can't adjust display/monitor brightness. Fn combinations does not work also.
In control panel>Display there are no any option for adjusting brightness.
Note: All drivers installed
Basically the Fn Button, Left, Right, Up, Down buttons are all working fine. I can adjust the volume of the notebook, but I can't however adjust the brightness of the screen. There is no brightness setting in my notebook whatsoever! Am I missing the brightness driver? what is the name of the brightness driver? Or is it something else. Taking into account that I have decrease/increase brightness symbols on the left/right buttons respectively.
