View 4 RepliesThis is the adapter that comes with the E6500. according to the Tech Specs page:
Power Supply:
90 Watt AC adapter with cord wrappingCan someone please measure theirs or is there specs online? I couldn't find it.
I was just wondering if anyone has noticed their power adapter getting extremely hot?
I just got the Studio XPS 16 laptop today and I have never seen an adapter get so hot.
My 150 watt power adapter stopped working today. Is it possible to order one straight from Dell? What is the part number?
View 15 Replies View RelatedIt seems that since I updated to Vista and to Window 7 subsequently I can't get the audio to work out of my dock. It works fine out of the side of my laptop.
Any ideas on this? I wouldn't think it is a driver issue as sound does work.
I'm planning on purchasing an Elitebook (8740 maybee) that I want to semi-permanntly dock to a monitor and external keyboard. But I dont like the idea of having to open the lid, power on the laptop, close the lid and then use my system, so I was hoping there is a docking solution out there that would have a power button mounted so i could power the laptop on and off with the lid closed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about buying the HP 6930p Elitebook. One concern I have is that it only has a VGA port and no DVI, HDMI or Displayport for connecting an external monitor. I plan to connect the laptop regularly to a 24" display.
I thought one workaround might be to get a docking station for the laptop, which has a DVI connection. As the laptop connects to the docking station via a different port, I assumed a digital video signal would be sent. However, when I called HP to confirm if this was possible, they advised me that as the laptop only outputs VGA, even when it is connected to the dock, the only thing I could do would be to connect it via the dock's VGA port; it couldn't be connected via DVI. Is this correct? I have received incorrect info from HP and Dell on more than one occasion, so I wanted to check on here. Would the DVI port work on the dock or could I only use VGA?
Also, if not, how much better would a DVI or HDMI connection be versus VGA for that size of display.
i need a tool to measure my systems current watt consumption. according to some people even 1640 systems are in some cases affected by power throttling.

Any reason or benefit from say 130w - 150w Bricks?
I've recently upgraded to a Quadro 2500m in my 9400. Sometimes after playing games for awhile it will freeze up for a second and then get really slow (sometimes staircase like lines will appear on the monitor). I doubt the 2500m is broken since it came in a sealed Dell box and my temps aren't too high, so I'm suspecting that the 130W adapter that I got off of eBay is not really up to it. I noticed that sometimes when it boots up it cannot recognize the adapter (Press F1 to continue, F2 for setup etc...) but other times it recognizes it as the 130W adapter fine.
I also noticed that that PA-13 that I have was made in 2004...isn't that way before any of the Inspiron 9400s came out?
So I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get a reputable 130/150W adapter and/or what the part numbers are that people have been using successfully.
I was watching a movie upstairs and the adapter was working perfectly fine. I unplugged it and went downstairs, then replugged it in and the little light that indicates the laptop is charging, would not show up.
I put the adapter to my ear and heard the very faint beep/buzz noise it makes, making me believe that it's working fine.
Well I plugged in the adapter to my father's Dell notebook, then plugged it into my laptop and it's working perfectly fine.
Is there anything I can do for my HP battery? I mean, the last time something like this happened with an HP I had, the adapter wasn't even making the faint noise, it was just dead. I ended up having to buy a universal one. I would use that one for this notebook except, it doesn't fit into the slot.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 and my friend has a Latitude D820.
Tonight she accidentally plugged my power adapter into her laptop. A few hours later, she noticed that her laptop indicated that it wasn't plugged in, and that's when we realized that she had accidentally used my adapter instead of hers.
Now my adapter doesn't work at all. We've tried the adapter with both our laptops with different outlets with the same problem, so we know it's the adapter. The green light also doesn't come on when it's plugged in anymore.
Did plugging my adapter into her laptop somehow screw up my adapter, or could this just be a coincidence? Is there any way to fix the adapter or at least figure out what the problem is? And if I have to purchase a new adapter, do the universal ones they sell at retail electronics stores work OK? I would order one from Dell but I'm working on a project now and I don't have time to wait for it to ship.
I have a HP pavillion A10-5750M
Model- 15-e084ca(windows 7 ultimate)
I recently changed my window from 8 to 7 ultimate and i noticed my grahics adapter has changed from AMD radeon 8650G to standard VGA graphics adapter. Why is that and how do i change it?
My girlfriends HP dv9000 adapter broke at the cord where it plugs in the the laptop and she needs to buy a replacement. It is an 18.5V 3Amp adapter. She found one on ebay (claiming to be new) for like $0.99, but I'm extremely skeptical that it will work satisfactorily and may even damage the laptop.
Do you all have any suggestions for replacing it? Purchasing a new one from HP would work, but it is definitely the most expensive options. Has anybody had any luck with ones from other sellers, from ebay, amazon, etc.?
I've been thinking about buying a new power adapter to replace el-giganto that came with it. I understand that there is at least one Kensington power adapter that works (model 33197). That one, IMO is a bit too large. Curiously, that adapter is not directly visible on Kensington's website for Laptop Power Adapters, but is searchable (by part number).
So my question is whether there are any people out there that have used, for example, the model 38066 or the model 38067 successfully? Those two models are smaller (physically) than the 33197, but they don't actually list the Wattage they provide (they're listed by Voltage and Amperage - which kind of makes Wattage, but not exactly). It seems as though they might be 90W adapters (as the product pages make continual reference to their power efficiency over "other 90W adapters" which leads me to believe that they're probably around 90W adapters.
Or whether the model 38031 or 38030 will fit? These adapters are a bit larger, but appear to offer more input amperage. Though they also say "Up to 90W output" so ...
From what I understand, the HP Envy 15 will throttle the machine with less than 120W of input wattage.
Also, the 33197 is apparently an "old model".
I am in need of a new AC adapter for my HP Envy 15. Can any of you veteran owners recommend me a reliable and quality one (and hopefully under $100), preferably with a decently long cord?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find a power adapter for my HP dock XB3000, however, everywhere I look, the power adapter seem to be the same. My laptop uses the newer smart pin connection, however the dock uses a smaller plug. When I look on ebay, I see they list practically all hp laptops to be compatable with their power adapters. I was just wondering if the power adapters are practically universal, other than the difference between the 65W and the 90W adapters.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo while I was getting a blu-ray burner and HD upgrade for my DV5t, I got a promo advert in the mail from HP and it mentioned their Slim Travel Power Adapter (with USB charging port). I travel about 4000 miles by plane every 4-6 weeks, and I carry my Dv5t with me in a shoulder bag. After putting my laptop in a neoprene sleeve before putting it in the bag next to my paper file, there is not much room left in the bag for the power supply, wireless mouse, and misc cables, much less a bottle a water for the 4-hour plane trips.
On top of that, the charging port on my phone doesn't work anymore (I know, I need to change it, but I'm waiting for summer when I'm out of contract and can switch carriers and phones), but it still charges via the USB sync cable.
So the slim travel charger was looking pretty good - less space used in a very tight bag, and a way to charge my phone when my laptop is off. So I ordered it excitedly.
And I was quite let down.
The first issue I've had with it, is that although the transformer block it is slimmer in height that the one the that came with my laptop, it's just as long, and wider. At it's tallest, around the AC-in port, where it bulges out, it looks be just under a 1/4-inch in height savings. while being about 3/8th-inch wider and 1/8th-inch shorter (the long axis).
I have an HP dv5t Notebook with a wireless card, Belkin. I dont know much about wireless adapters so it figures I would screw this up. I was trying to play with it to see if I could turn my wireless connection into working with my Xbox 360 (long story). To simplify things, I went into the Belkin standard IP address for utilities and enabled a "local access point." Since then, I have been unable to access internet or even access the Belkin menu to disable what I did!

I have a Compaq Presario F572US, and for some odd reason, my wireless adapter keeps disappearing! I reinstall the wireless adapter software, then I make sure the wireless switch is turned on and after a number of reboots, the wireless adapter will show up, for me to connect to a wireless network. Once I reboot, then the adapter just completely disappears! I go to device manager and I don't even see it in the network adapter section.
I scanned for virus and spyware and my system appears to be clean.
My HP 6910p is doing extremely slow as long as the AC adapter is connected, but fine when only running on battery.
Problem remains when disconnecting the battery and only running with the AC connected.
Problem exists outside operating system (ie. also in BIOS).
When AC is connected the CPU load is constantly high, otherwise it isn't.
Booting XP with AC connected gives blue screen. Unable to see the error code before it reboots. Booting with battery only works fine.
Problem remains after updating BIOS+reset to default values.
I have HP DV5Z-1000 laptop. The other day my AC adapter stopped working and won't charge my laptop. I know it is the adapter because when I have it plugged into the wall, and not even plugged into the laptop, it beeps.
I got my laptop in the US, but I am currently living in a small town in Canada and can't easily get replacement parts. I am not sure if HP will ship the same adapter to Canada.
My question is, can I buy any old adapter or would I need the same one it came with? If I need to buy a third party adapter what one can i get?
Is there something similar to this [url]that will work in my DV2700?
The DVD drive it came with is garbage... and I usually burn on my desktop so I was wondering if there was a better use for the drive bay. Then again, im not sure its worth the hit on battery life when I can buy a 500gb.
if this has happened to any notebook user:
for a week now, my ac adapter/power cord has been making crackling noises when i unplug it...at first i thought it was static electricity, then today, I saw smoke coming from it
it won't work for awhile, then it will magically start charging my notebook
it seems really dangerous & i'm afraid it's gonna catch fire or burn me.
i just built an hd antenna and i was scanning for new channels and it was picking up some awesome channels and then i tripped over the cord and busted that little adapter that converts a normal coax cable to the mini one that plugs into the tv tuner.
anyone know the part number? I've looked everywhere online and can only find the partnumber for the antenna, not the adapter by itself. is this mini plug a standard? i even chatted with hp parts department and they were of no help.
I have an HP Compaq nx7400. I've had it for over 3 years now. I've never changed its battery ever since I bought it.

Over the past few weeks, I've been having an unusual problem. Whenever I plug the AC adapter to my laptop, the whole laptop performance - from the second I switch it on - is very slow. The moment I pull the AC adapter from the laptop, it instantly operates at a normal and fast speed again!
I figured that it must have been a problem with the AC adapter (it's had its fair share of use - being swung around and dragged to lectures...). So I ordered another one off Ebay. Today, I got the new adapter and when I plugged it in, the laptop only went on AC power. It worked fine - fast as normal. However, it was not charging - just on AC power. I am starting to question if the adapter was really as "genuine" like it was advertised on eBay. But anyway... after about 4 hours with the new adapter on AC power, it stopped recognizing the battery altogether and alerted me with a Critical Battery sign. Of course, a few minutes later, it went dead on me - the laptop switched off. It was as if I removed the AC adapter myself, only I hadn't. Now, I am trying to plug it in again (the new one), to see if it will be able to power up again and it just won't respond at all.
On the other hand, when I put the old AC adapter, the laptop switches on but doesn't charge. Again, it is extremely slow with the adapter on, and fast when I pull the wire out. Only for a minute or so until it dies on me again...
My compaq presario CQ62 laptop's wireless adapter frequently disconnects while I'm online. is there a driver update that will correct this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been looking online and getting mixed results regarding buzzing noises from ac power adapters. My old hp dv6000 laptop powerbrick did not make buzzing noises as loud as my new dv6-1235cl from costco.
I noticed that a lot of people now hear buzzing noises from their ac adapter. Then I came onto this website.

Is this a bunch of bs or are they for real?
I can hear the buzzing noise when I put my ac adapter on the table, but almost non existent when its on the ground. I want to know if this will be a fire safety hazard in the future? I dont want my house burning down even when this thing is plugged in.
