I have a Dv6244us running windows 7 and for a while now the disc drive has been sporadically ejecting without any pushing of the eject button. Now it only opens occasionally when prompted to do so and it has stopped reading discs; when I go to My Computer it tells me to insert a disc when there is one in the drive.

DDVW28SLC no longer reads any CDR/W discs! It reads DVD's and CD's fine.
I've tested a couple CDR discs that work on my friend's computer but not mine. Anybody ever experience this before .....
My issue is playing Blu-Ray Discs. I put the disc in, and the program automatically initiates.
After a while though just as its doing the the loading green circle thing the program abruptly terminates.
I have no idea why it does this. When I start the program back up manually and tell it to play the BD movie, it just says "Unable to detect a DVD or a DVD device on your computer.
I just got a Vaio NW. So far I am loving it, as well as loving Windows 7. The one question I have is, is it normal for the disc drive indicator light to continuously flicker/flash?
The programs I have running are Google Chrome, and Norton 2010 Internet Security

The slot loading disc drive keeps making a noise. It seems to be functioning properly and there is no disc in it and no jamming. It almost sounds like it random is pulling a CD in or ejecting one.
Is this normal?
I just got my system the other day and I didn't get it with the blu-ray drive. It seems it wasn't even on the configuration menu when I ordered my system.
Can anyone check our their device manager and tell me the blu-ray drive you currently have? I'd like to buy one and install it myself (Don't worry I'm pretty tech savvy).
I got a VGN-NR260E to fix and the HDD is reporting problems, now most laptops I've worked on have a HDD panel on the bottom, not this one, and Im thinking I have to take it apart fully.
View 3 Replies View RelatedTouch pad is no longer working. I have had my Dell Inspiron 17R for abut 15 months and the touchpad has not worked for at least 12 of them. At first I noticed the problem after my computer would install updates and I'd have to restore the computer to a particular snapshot point. That worked for all of one week. Then I also checked the drivers. That was unsuccessful. I have also tried pressing F3 + Fn and nothing. I won't begin to mention that I have to hold this laptop a particular way to get it to turn on.... I do know, the touchpad on a basically new laptop is supposed to work and the device is supposed to turn on when you press the power button without having to do some form of sorcery.

I think you better look at the pictures, but one day vista said it was intalling that random letter device, and then after that my cd drive doesnt seem to work. It still opens, and seems to spin up the drive after you close it but Its not showing up in my computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my Studio 1555 for awhile now, and all is has been pretty fine. However, I just noticed that my eject button for the disc drive has stopped working. I rarely use it, but I have used it before.
I upgraded my bios today from A06 to A08 and went to install my new bluetooth mouse, and the eject button just does not respond at all. I can eject the disc from my computer > right clicking the drive and selecting "eject" so it's definitely the button.
I'm not sure if this is related to the bios upgrade or something else.. Computer spec's are in my signature and I'm running Windows 7 Professional, clean install.
It seemed to stop by itself after an apple update. Am on 10.6 with no other issues so far. Any way I can remove the update?

It does not attempt to boot from the Windows 8 installation disc, or from the hard drive that I reinstalled Windows on myself. I can boot to both of these on other computers, so I know they are not the problem. I'm thinking it's BIOS or motherboard related, but I'm not sure where to go from here.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed the most recent ThinkVantage Password Manager software yesterday through the Lenovo Solution Software. It is version 4.70.20. Today, when I booted my computer, my fingerprint reader is no longer working (it worked yesterday before the installation and all day yesterday after the installation). I cannot find a fingerprint reader in Device Manager, but there is one "Unknown USB Device (device Descriptor Request Failed)" which is listed as not working in device manager.
I feel like the software update killed the fingerprint driver as it is no longer available in any application (windows logon, website logon, etc.).
I've installed no other software recently and have uninstalled and reinstalled both the ThinkVantage Password Manager and Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro (version 8.01.26(x64) today to try to resolve the issue.
I upgraded my w520 from Win 7 to Win 8 last year with zero problems. Now I upgraded my W520 Win 8 to Win 8.1 via the store download. Except the webcam everything works fine.
In e.g. the Skype desktop application, Google Hangouts or the camera app, the built in webcam no longer works.
The green light turns on, but I just get the crossed out camra icon in e.g. the Skype video options. No video.
I see there are no drivers yet for Win 8.1 on the Lenovo support site for the w520 camera. In device manager it still shows the 2011 camera driver 1.1.0.1147 and says "This device is working properly."
But it does not work properly. How to get the camera to work or is it just a matter of waiting for a driver to be released eventually?
I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, camera is enabled in the Bios and permissions are set to give Skype and the camera app access to the camera. I also tried the W530 drives as was suggested elsewhere.
I have a T510 running Win7 64-bit. For at least 3 years, I have had the same dual monitor setup (2 DoubleSight DS-1900S) running off my minidock with the laptop closed. The rgith monitor is the primary, running off the DVI port, while the left uses the analog port. I was away for a week at Scout camp, powered on the system once while I was there, and when I came back to the office, my monitor setup started failing.
Specifically, the right screen is active but it no longer displays the signal being sent to it. When I powercycle the screen, I can see the display for about a quarter of a second, then it goes blank. When the problem first started, I could cycle it about 20 times and eventually it would stay on, until I left the unit overnight and it went to sleep, at which point the probelm started again.
Sounds like a wonky monitor? I have a backup set of monitors that I swapped in, and had the same exact problem, so that appears to rule out a mechanical defect. More fun facts: I can only use the laptop screen as a standalone display. I cannot get the multidisplay control panel to open, even though my left screen is powered up. However, one of my programs that normally launches to my right (main) screen will still launch, but not to my laptop screen. It really wants to live on my right screen, even when that screen is not powered on (I can close the program by accessing the icon bar at the bottom of my laptop screen).
I have purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad T430. This laptop came with pre-installed Windows 7 Pro. However I want to use Windows 8 which I have a recovery disc for.
I built in a SSD instead of the optical drive. So I don´t have a optical drive. On this SSD I want to run my OS.
With a software from Samsung (manufacturer of my SSD) I was able to copy the Windows7 OS on my SSD.
As I mentioned above I bought a laptop with installed windows 7 pro and a Windows 8 upgrade disc. Therefore I got the "Operating System Recovery Dis Windows 8 Pro. (OEM Activation 3.0 Required)".
The problem now is that I have an upgrade disc but no optical drive. So I created an image of the upgrade disc and with this image I have created a bootable USB stick with the following program:

When I boot my laptop using the bootable USB stick everything seems to be working until to the point where I have to accept the EULA.
So I chose a language, and clicked on "I accept the agreements".
When I want to click on "next" I got a error message "recovery failed".
