I'm looking at the Mi edition as it is cheaper. Would it be possible to partition the HD and dual boot XP Professional on the partition?
Also, are there any larger PATA HDDs to purchase?
I'm trying to figure out the difference between the two other than the casing (one's metal and one's plastic). The 2140 uses a SATA connector vs a PATA connector. So for $25 extra(lowest config 2140 vs highest config 1000) you get a metal case and SATA connector?
Why would anyone buy the 1000? Am I missing something? Oh and the 2140 has a higher volatage adapter for 'fast charging'...what's left for the 1000?
Does this OS run like windows? can i pop in lets say world of warcraft and install and play it normally? will it run blizzards background loader? i just want to know if this OS will run like a normal OS.
Or is the Mi OS ment for people who really just want a netbook for internet and small media and nothen more because the OS wont let them do anything else other than what HP gives them?
i have a HP DV5T which is awesome. plays all my games, and is quite possibly the perfect laptop. but, has anyone seen how cool the mini note is? dear god, my only problem is justifying the price, and if i need it. i go to college and live in a dorm. would buying the mini note completely destroy the reason i have a $1500 laptop in the first place?
i do work at best buy, and theirs is $399 and it's got 16GB SSD, 2gb HP flash module.
1.) it says it has a "bluetooth bus enumerator"? is that a bluetooth module or no? i do ask because it plays a small factor in the purchase.
2.) secondly, does anyone know if the mini note at Best Buy has that cool HP software on it? our display doesnt, so i do wonder.

I found videos and know for sure that upgrading the memory is possible. But i cant find anything on replaceing the 80 G HDD with a larger HDD.
I found the Memory on newegg, also picking up a external dvd drive so i can re install windows and such once i figure out if replaceing the stock HDD is possible

Also wanted to have Vista to become familiar with that os. I partitioned the drive changed the SATA setting to IDE in CMOS and installed XP Home on the drive. On reboot it now defaults to XP but doesn't recognize the Network Controlller and several other "unknown devices" Of course I am unableto connect to the internet to download new drivers etc. So my questions are: What information is necessary to diagnose this problem? Where can I find that? (and) How can I choose between OS's at startup and avoid device compatibility issues?

My issue is:
I'd like to try the beta of Windows 7, using the 2nd Hard Disk for that. I've been using it mainly for data backup, but as I have an external drive I guess I could make the 2nd dirsk free for trying Windows 7.
My reason for wanting to try Windows 7 is Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Some of my buddies tried it in Windows 7 and are reporting a noticeable performance increase.
When it comes to Laptops, and since this is my first one, I'm very reluctant to these moves - mainly because of the proprietary drivers... for instance, if I want to update my NVidia card drivers that must be made through HP and not through the regular channels - or so I think.
Questions:
Would it be possible to install Windows 7 on the 2nd Hard Disk and make it a Dual Boot system?
Would I have problems with HP-specific drivers?
