HP/Compaq :: G60-125NR- High Temp Of 95+*C And A Low Of 57*C
Mar 11, 2009
So I have had a few hp laptops now. My G60-125NR is the hottest one I have. I ran speed fan just to see if it would work on it, it came up with a high temp of 95+*C and a low of 57*C. Is this normal? The temp is at 80*C while I'm typing this right now. Its on a hard table, with clean vents...

I downloaded CPUID and ran it to see what it would report for GPU temp. It's running between 80 and 84 degrees C. My notebook is sitting on a cooling pad I bought a few months ago; it has two small fans, powered by USB. I don't the cooling pad helps much, only a slight benefit. CPU temps (two cores) usually run in low 50's, fluctuating from high 40's to about 57, as notebook fan kicks on and off. The notebook fan does not run excessively, in my opinion; it usually only needs to run a few seconds before it stops and the frequency of it kicking on is not too high, I believe. Actually, with the high temp reading for GPU, I'm surprised the main fan does not run more often and for longer durations. Again, the cooling pad makes little difference in frequency and duration of main fan.
The GPU in this notebook PC is nVidia GeForce Go 6100. I bought this computer is July 2007. I've never checked GPU temp before. The video driver was updated at least once since I've owned it. I could roll back the video driver and see whether that would make any difference. Or, I could update to a later version; Windows Updates has been showing a video driver as an optional update for quite some time but I have not installed it. Or, should I visit nVidia's website and search for a driver update.......

I have my m1530 for almost two years, and in last 2 months (after I've installed windows 7) i'm having troubles with my graphic card (nvidia g8600m gt). The problem is that in every game after few minutes there is a sudden drop of FPS. For example if i have a FPS of 50 after 2-5 minutes it goes down to 20. I checked my CPU and Memory load but there is nothing strange.
I have latest Nvidia drivers: 197.16
I also included as attachment a log file of GPU load and temp after playing 10 minutes of CoD 5.

I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the heatsink on my m1330. It seems like the fan never turns off of full and the palm resets are always pretty warm (although it is summer and I don't use my AC).
I idle around 54C on both cores of my t8300. Is this normal or should I replace the thermal pad/paste?

I'm encoding MKV to PS3AVCHD and the temp for the GPU is hovering around 90C. I will be encoding it for ~12 hours.
Should I be concern about it? The palm rest doesn't get too warm

I'm probably going buy and HP laptop soon, the HDX 16"...
So therefore, I was wondering how the gaming is on your sexy HP. Not graphically wise or fps and such, but temp wise. For instance, how long do you get to game for before things get too hot or do you manage to keep things at decent temps for a full day worth of gaming
Personally I don't play too intensive games, mostly world of warcraft. Nothing hardcore like crysis and stuff. So i'd imagine i'd get some decent gaming hours as long as i keep things cool haha by getting a zalaman pc cooling pad and if i decided to undervolt.

I have an HP G60-244DX with 3GB ram, AMD Dual Core Ql-62 at 2.00 GHz, Windows 7 32 bit, and nVidia GeForce 8200m G with 1394 MB memory (integrated gfx card). I got the blue screen of death a few weeks back so I went out and bought a laptop cooler.
Anyways I was playing Left 4 Dead and I got the BSOD, sometimes when I play L4D, I'll get a black screen and the laptop shuts off (battery fully charged, power cord hooked in)...haven't had this problem since buying the cooler but the laptop does get pretty hot.
Things that I noticed will bring up the CPU and GPU temps are windows media player and playing a full screen game. I'm using CPUID Monitor.
Under heavy load (i.e playing L4D), the CPU cores get up to 107 degrees ceclius and the GPU core up to 110 degrees celcius (doesn't stay there but the temp runs up that high).
I know laptops aren't made for gaming and I've been reading that AMD processors generally get higher temps. than Intel.
Is there a way to lower the tempreture of CPU and GPU while havin the laptop under heavy load (even with a cooler)?

I have a DV6000. I keep this laptop in tiptop shape. I only recently started to use it again on a fulltime basis. I notice that the fan is now CONSTANTLY on. It doesn't matter what I do, idling included... Here are some stats from HW Monitor. I'm not sure how to interpret these numbers, but they do look high. The palm rest is warm, but it has always been the case.
what I can do? Obviously I can't turn off the fan it the system is in fact hot.

I've got HP dv7-2043cl laptop. I want to find out what max GPU temp do you guys get, when you put stress on the graphics card. I am interested only in DV7-2xxx series with Ati Mobility 4650. Mine is around 46-48 when idle. Temp goes up to 70-74 in around three minutes when I run the Fur Mark stability test (1600x900, MSAA 8x, post processing and xtreme burning turned on). Clocks are at stock frequencies.
I wouldn't care about the temperature (it is not actually that high), but I have a problem. The computer just turns off when I play some games. For instance, if I play Fallout 3 at ultra settings (1600x900, 8x msaa, hdr), the computer powers off after a couple of minutes. Same thing with Crysis Warhead at high setting (1280x720, no msaa), even Half-Life 2 at max settings! When I lower the resolution in Fallout 3 to 1280x720 and MSAA to 4x, everything seems to be fine. Same thing with Half-Life 2. No similar luck with Crysis though. Looks like Crysis utilizes every single bit out of the GPU in any case.

I seem to be having an issue with my laptop and it's the fans not going high or fast. I don't know when this started happening but the odd thing is that the fans are not broken because when I boot it up I can hear and feel the fans going fast but as soon as the screen gets to the Windows Loading Screen the fans go back down to normal or slow speed, which is normal but when I'm playing my games I expect it to speed up so it can cool down my laptop, nope instead at 97 Celsius it's still the same speed and doesn't even bother trying lol. This is getting quite annoying because I need a fan sitting on the ground pointing up at my laptop just to keep it cool so it doesn't just turn off on me now I'm debating weather I should take it to my local Future Shop seeing as how I still have it under there 2 year warranty but I kind of look at that option as my last resort till I can be sure I can't fix it.
If any of this information helps heres what I'm running:
HP G60-104CA Laptop
2 GB of RAM
1.90 GHz AMD Athlon X2 64 Dual Core Processor
256 MB of Video RAM (Taken from the 2GB of ram)
Running Windows 7
BIOS Password on Start Set to ON.
Startup Windows Password is ON

I am using dv6570er for about year already, the problem is in core?acpi?gpu temperature; while typing this post speedfan shows temp1(acpi?)71*C; core0&core1 71*C; GPU 61*C.
About an hour ago i disassembled him, cleaned motherboard, fan etc... then assembled, i was really happy when see speedfan showing 51*C but this doesn't last too long when i switched power plan (was "power economy") in mobility center to "High performance" temp scaled to 60*C same when changed to "Balanced" (before disassembly notebook i was getting 90*C in three seconds after swithching to Balanced/High perfomance plan and 65*C in power economy). When i bought this laptop he was showing only 35*C, what can be the reason of so high temperature?
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (preinstalled with HP tools etc updated to sp2)

Alright, so to start off I'll just say that I love the DV2. I bought the dual core version loaded when it first went up for customization at the HP site. I have, however, noticed that it can run a tad hot.
When I first got it, without a cooler, the CPUs usually went from between 41c-45c from light usage, and the GPU from between 51c-55c. Even when propping the back up I only saw a drop of 1c total. I bought a small cooler for it and saw a fairly good drop. The temps of the CPU where down to 36c-39c and the gpu was down to 45c-49c with both sometimes even going lower depending on how much the AC in the house was on.
I did try some gaming on this, playing some HL2. The CPU got to 60c at the highest and the GPU also only got to about 60c while on the cooling pad.
So, a few days ago I updated my BIOS to the latest on for the DV2 from the HP site. I noticed right away that my temps where higher. The temps while on my cooler where the same as they used to be without it, and with the cooler off the GPU was getting up to 60c while at idle. I tried a few things, like setting the GPU to low power mode with the Catalyst controls, but that didn't help.
Not sure what to do I noticed this morning that I hadn't gotten SP2 for Vista yet. So I decided to get it in hopes that it would help.. now my DV2 is even hotter. On the cooling pad my CPU was at around 60c and GPU was at 65c while at idle. I've had it on all day, with all the vents in my room open and the AC up high and the lowest it's gotten is to 50c for the CPU and 55 for the GPU.

I get an almost constant high-pitched noise coming from what sounds like the left side of the Envy15. The sound is probably in the 16khz range, probably goes undetected by a lot people but I always pick up on it. I've noticed the sound is interupted when I scroll a webpage so I thought it was crappy power regulation for the display or something. However, when same effect is there when using an external monitor and the laptop lid closed.

i purchased one compaq cq45-137tx in december. I guess it' similar to the dv4t models marketed in other countries.
model details
there are couple of temperature issues with this lappy ( ambient temp 25-30C):
1. at idle ( just media player or maybe a pdf file open), the cpu temp is at 43C, northbridge always above 50, gpu always above 55.hd also tends to operate at 45-48C. this is inspite of the fact that i am running this thing with no vents blocked ..and in fact the RAM, cmos battery and hd covers removed to allow better air circulation.
2. at normal load ( game like burnout paradise, with utor going on in background), cpu tends to reach 60 C, gpu at 80 C , northbridge at 70C and hd at 60 C.
3. cpu temp never seem to change really. tried using various s/w' like realtemp ( shows 28 C for gpu..which i dont think is feasible). only when i reboot after a high load session, the s/w' show higher temperatures ( and the notebook shows erratic behavior with display artifacts!).
4. the only fan in the machine never appears to speed up or down. i don't have an issue with the noise, as long as it helps this thing run cooler.......

My HP dv5t is about 10 months old, with a P8600 and Geforce 9600 GT. After just an hour of playing Company of Heroes, my max temperatures for the CPU is 95C and GPU is 110C. I didn't lift the back since I can't right now, but even when I do have it lifted, I think only the GPU goes down to about 99C or so while the CPU is still around 95C max. The CPU idles at 58-60C and GPU about 68-70C.
Anyway, I tried blowing some compressed air in it and it looks good a few weeks ago, but I'm still getting these temperatures. I'm really concerned since I haven't found any posts where others have this degree of overheating, maybe it's just me? I'm not playing on my lap or bed so it's not that. I don't really experience any glitches or crashes yet, but it seems like others have problems at temperatures that aren't as high, so it's probably only a matter of time. I run stock drivers and bios and haven't done anything drastic to it. When I first got this, the temps maxed out at around 80 for CPU and 95 for GPU. But yeah, anyone else having this bad of a problem and what can I do right now?
Here's an image, I wish I had those min temps as idle but those were when the computer just turned on:

having some issues with the IDT Audio driver.
For me, the issue is that sometimes on startup I get an error message that says the driver experienced an error and it closes and so I can't hear any audio out of my speakers until I restart. This happens randomly on some startups and today it happened when I opened iTunes for some reason.
I currently use driver version 6.10.6087.0 A which is what HP claims on their site is the latest version for my dv7t-1000.
I've read that some people use 6.10.6087.22.
And I just saw today that there is a 6.10.6087.60 C for the dv7t-2000.
My question is, can I use this new driver? How should I go about installing it?

I bought a new notebook, a HP Pavilion dv7-3065dx, everything was going ok, no problems at all, opened the box, charged the battery, formatted with a fresh Win7 installation. No problems so far. However, since the second day of having it, I began to notice an annoying high-pitched noise coming from the top-left area of the notebook.
The noise is not continous, it mostly appears only when I hover over the items in the start or context menus, and other selectable items as well, such as the minimize/maximize/close buttons of the windows. It is also audible when Windows is in the "Please wait... Booting up..." screen and when minimizing/maximizing windows.

I tried using the hlt command in RM CPU clock utility, like many people have suggested, but the version I have does not even let me check the box. It is an option though, but the writing is in grey and cannot be chosen.
I was wondering if maybe there were some other options i could tweak to lessen the damn noise!
Under "advanced CPU settings" , I can choise the ACPI state to modifiy but there are the only options i could change:
Enable CPU low power
Enable Northbridge Low power
Enable FID/VID change
And i can change the clock divisor to the following:
8,16,32,64,128,256,512.....
