View 3 RepliesI just got my Envy 15, and opened up the package, the Windows recovery DVD or any other software installation disk was no where to be found. Nor was I prompted at startup to make a fresh recovery DVD from a blank. I havne't bought HP for a number of years, mostly stuff from Lenovo, Dell and smaller OEMs, each of them contained the disks or the instruction to make them.
How does the process with HP work? Is ordering new disks from HP the only way that I can wipe the HDD clean and start from scratch?
i installed a new copy of vista(ultimate) on my HP laptop.
what all drivers do i need to install?
i installed
graphics
audio
network
touch pad
quick launch
intel matrix store manager
intel flash cache logic chip driver
hp software update
hp active support library
besides these am i missing any important drivers that are need to be installed compulsarly?
I have a HP Dv2700 Cto Notebook with the following specifications
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1 Ghz,
3 GB RAM,
250Gb Harddisk,
GeForce 8400 Graphics Card
OS - Windows Vista Home Premium
I had followed the Steps in notebookreview.com for "Clean install of Windows Vista" and installed Vista on my Laptop 6 months back and it worked perfectly fine.
Last week, i started facing issues with Vista and the system would automatically Hibernate.
The screen would go blank automatically even while its been used.
So, i decided to clean install Vista again.
I ran the Vista setup CD and using the Vista partition utility, formatted the Primary Parition c: (i have 3 paritions).
I started the setup and after copying 66% of the files. The system automatically shut itself down.
I Had to re-start the setup.
When i restarted the setup, the setup doesnt even start copying files. it shuts down during the initializing setup screen............
I got a brand new hp envy beats and I tried to do a clean install with these drivers from HP.com
- IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Driver
- Intel Chipset Driver
- ATI Mobility Radeon HD Series Video/Graphics Driver
- HP Quick Launch Buttons
- Synaptics Touchpad Driver
(I didn't install the rest because I think those aren't neccessary)
Software & Driver Downloads - HP Customer Care (United States - English)...
HP Envy 15-1055se Beats Limited Edition Notebook PC
After the installation, all the fn key (increasing/decreasing volume/brightness, web, mail, calc, fn b for beats audio) works well. But I can not see the on screen display (volume indicator or beats logo...) like before.
how to slipstream sata drivers onto Windows XP installation disk I decided to try it out. I had two unsuccessful attempts and I'm wondering that it probably is due to me using the wrong drivers for the job.
I have a Dv5t 1135ee, can anybody please direct me to the right drivers that I need to put onto my Windows XP installtion disk to not get a BSoD.
I just got a HDX 9200 last week and all this time I've been fiddling with tweaking the original HP image, installing clean Vista OSes (like twenty times by now), trying different drivers, running drivers-update scammers (like DriverDetective, RadarSync, etc.) just to look at the newest version number of the drivers, then crawling the web to manually find and try them, and so, and so on.
Of course, in the need of having a clean Windows Vista installation (since the HP image has a lot of crap, slowdowns, outdated drivers, not SP1 slipstreamed, etc.) I had to start from scratch.
After installing the clean Vista setup and all the drivers, I found that the QuickLaunch buttons were given me problems. What happened is, at the end, that everyone of them works BUT the TV button. I'm running on the QuickLaunch Buttons drivers 6.40, also QuickTouch installed for OSD, and QuickPlay 3.7 (updated from CyberLink) and still, when touching the TV button, nothing happens. Not even a click is hear like with the others. The strangest thing is that, if I turn the computer on by pressing the TV button instead of the power, it boots... and then it opens the TV module in the QuickPlay app.! Just as it should!................
im buying a new laptop soon and in order to cut costs i decided to pick up a notebook that is not preinstalled with any OS (it says "free Dos" in the specs) since i already have a copy of windows xp pro and vista home edition at home which i will be installing on it.
now my noobish question is whether or not i will be able to install one of these operating systems or do i need a "special" version of the OS that is designed for the specific notebook in order for it to work as some seller told me? the model is Dell Studio 1537...
I've been looking around the internet, with no luck so far to answer my question. Hoping you can help me out
Anyway, quite some time ago, I purchased a Dell XPS M1710 laptop; Vista Home Premium. Recently, after moving into my new job, I have decided I need to upgrade to Vista Business.
Would it be possible to purchase an OEM disk (such as one you buy with a piece of hardware from Newegg) and run that on my Dell machine, or will it not allow me to use it, as I'm required to use my original disk that came with the laptop?
After doing a refresh reinstall on my XPS1645 (and getting the X-Fi MB driver disk from Dell after a phone call), I'm having some issues getting the software to work again.
The installation process appears to go fine, but when I try to open any of the provided Creative programs (Audio Control Panel, etc.), I get the following error message:
The audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit.
I'm going to try reinstalling both Creative and the IDT drivers. Has anyone else run into this?
is the system installation the same on a replacement or is it anything different? Does the system come packaged like a brand new system would?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI know this question is NOT about Dell Studio/Inspiron, but I know someone can help. So my old latitude D630 is messed up(running slowly, with all sorts of spyware and junk), so I decided to format and re-install XP. I used a bootable CD(which
"press any key to boot from CD..", it gives me this error:
"File i386iosinfo.inf cannot be loaded. The error is code 2... Setup cannot continue"
I have problem with my Acer Aspire 8920G,

I recently I installed Norton 360 and used one User account then I re-installed Vista, now before I put Norton 360 back is it possible to continue with my first user? I don't want to activate another user. I know with I-tunes your meant to de-activate your computer before you re-install windows. Was I supposed to de-activate my Norton before I re-installed?
This whole "upto 3 PC's" is a load of ballox,
I have a Z11WN, bought it in Italy and is running currently Vista Business. I ordered few weeks ago, Windows 7 Home Premium from Amazon.co.uk. Do you guys know if I will be able to upgrade without loosing my files? Or I will have to do a clean install, because the language of the actual OS is italian and the upcoming W7 is in english?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop. I purchased an OEM system builder Pack Microsoft Win Home Prem 7-64 bit English disk that won't install on my computer.
I am assuming my laptop is 32 bit, not 64 bit. Is there a way around this? I now have the disk for sale on Ebay but would like to be able to figure out how to use it either on my laptop or on my HP desktop.........
I already started a thread about my PCMCIA card not functioning correctly, it disabled my Wireless card and i have to remove the PCMCIA and reboot to get it too function again. I suspect it might have something to do with the order in which i installed all the drivers. There is a "help" page on the Dell website [url]
click "Installing Drivers in the right order"
Thing is that this help file doesn't use the same names for categories as they do on the actual driver page so it's a bit confusing at times. I didn't do a fresh OS install but tried to reinstall all the drivers in this order to solve the cardbus problem.
Here's what i've done. Actual category names of the Driver Page are in blue....names of categories in the "Help" page are written after them
System Utilities...or System and Configuration Utilies?
Dell - utility....system software
Dell - Utility....recommended Vista Power Management Settings
Chipset
Intel - Driver...Mobile chipset
Ricoh - Driver....R5C847
Video
nVidia - Driver....Quadro FX 770M
Network
Intel - Driver....825xx Gigabit Platform LAN Network Device
Intel - Diagnostics Utility....825xx Gigabit Platform LAN Network Device
Intel - Application....825xx Gigabit Platform LAN Network Device
(I don't have the bluetooth module or the minicards mentioned on the site)
After that i installed everything from the Applications category but somehow the Dell "ControlPoint Connection Manager" Doesn't install.
In the tutorial the PCMCIA card is specifically mentioned to be located in the "Security" category....surprise, surprise...that category doesn't exist! Could it have to do with the Dell "ControlPoint Security Manager"?
I didn't install that because i didn't want to have the fingerprint reader enabled.
Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the PCMCIA card but it's the only part in the driver page where security is even mentioned so, am i wrong?
I finally received my 14z yesterday afternoon and was excited to to install Windows 7 via USB.
I used this guide (Install Windows 7/Vista from USB drive) which worked flawlessly, but now
I'm wondering where you guys are downloading your x64 drivers. I'm also wondering where I can find drivers for two instances of "Base System Device" showing up in my Device Manager
The settings are "IDE" in BIOS for the HDD.
Bios Ver: v1.21 (got that version by default)
So I got REAL problems when trying to install Win XP Pro SP2 on my brand new Acer Aspire 5930G-733G25Mn.
First I tried to slipstream the ahci driver and making a custom XP disk, that didn't work, I got BSOD before the first part (blue background and white text) of the Windows installation.
Ok so I bought a USB-floppy only for this problem and loaded "f6flpy32_85.zip" onto a floppydisk and pressed "F6" to load SATA drivers under the Win XP installation boot.
EDIT: I extracted the files onto a floppy, there are no .zip file on the floppy only the contents of that .zip file.
I then chose "Intel(R) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E SATA RAID Controller" then I can get past the "first phase" of the Win XP installation.
BUT when I get to the end of the first installation with an automatic reboot within 15sec or enter to do it directly the following happends:
(I remove the floppy before rebooting).......................
i just bought a Acer EX4420-5963 from Bestbuy Outlet, but doesn't have installed any OS system,
I want to install WinXP, but HDD is not recognized, What can i do, i doesn't find any HDD sata driver for this Model.
I just check the site where i bought the Notebook, i found another one, and have this note:
Operating system is not included.
"unit Works but Will Require the Installation of a Sata/raid Driver Through a Floppy/cdrom Drive in Order to Install Any Windows Os. (unit Will Flash "no Hard Drive" if Not Installed.)"
I've recently upgraded my 6930G to 4GB RAM as well as a 320GB & I decided to install Windows 7 64 bit RC instead of Vista.
I tried a test installation which went OK, with only 2 devices listed as requiring drivers to be installed are the Infra Red Device (which is listed as unknown device in Device Manager) and the fingerprint scanner.
What I was hoping is whether someone out there who's already installed Windows 7 RC and could help me with a guide for what other drivers should be installed, e.g. Chip set, ACHI etc. and whether they need to be installed in any particular order when it comes to installing for 'real'?
I noticed as well that the Acer empowering software was not compatable with Windows 7 (even in compatability mode), but am not sure whether this is any big deal?
I just got this latop and installation of Vista was done at first bootup. The thing is, it installs a tone of junk apps too!
I removed allot of it but now it doesn't always bootup. I'll get a black screen only and I have to reboot again. I don't think I deleted any system files but there may be some conflict or something at bootup (sometimes).
Is there a way to reinstall just Vista without all that junk?
My friend's hard drive crashed. He took it into apple and they told him he needed to replace it with a new hard drive. Does he need to buy a new installation disk once we install the new hard drive?

j just received the new Dell Latitude E6400. Now i wanted to install a fresh Windows XP incl. SP2 and whilst the installation, after the drivers were loaded a bluescreen appears.
I already have created a slipstream CD with SP3 and the Intel Matrix Storage Drivers, but that doesn't work either.
Has someone already installed XP on that notebook (i guess so). What have you done to make it work?
I have just ordered my M4400 with an 128gb ssd disk. I already have official windows XP 64 bit so i didn't order an operating system. My question is as follows:
1. with the SSD disk will i be able to install windows on my own? Am i going to need an extra driver like with the SATA drives?
2. if yes how will i be able to load it during the install? will i need nlite or similar software to create a windows installation cd?
3. Has anybody done it and knows the actual procedure? any other recomendations for the installation? Are there any tricks apart from installing the drivers in the order mentioned in the dell site?
4. Finally can i partition the SSD disk through the windows setup like with normal HDs?
I recently got a Aspire 9402 without HD, so I just pop in another HD. However, I have problem installing a fresh XP onto it. You guys might know the answer.
First, I put in an HD with XP installed that worked perfectly on a dell 600m. The Acer gave me a blue screen. This looks reasonable since everything is different.
Then I put in a formatted clean HD set to active, and a bootable windows XP installation CD into either the built-in DVD-burner or USB DVD-RW driver. During the startup, I pressed F12 to select the right boot device. However, Acer always gave me error message, and would not boot from CD. I also tried Windows 7 or Vista disks, still no go.
It seems to me that Acer is different to other brands I have dealt with, like Dell or HP. I am not sure getting a set of recovery Disks from Acer would solve the problem.
Anyone managed to install SP2 final? I am getting error 0x80004005. I have original Vista Home on my 6935.
