I know this question is NOT about Dell Studio/Inspiron, but I know someone can help. So my old latitude D630 is messed up(running slowly, with all sorts of spyware and junk), so I decided to format and re-install XP. I used a bootable CD(which
"press any key to boot from CD..", it gives me this error:
"File i386iosinfo.inf cannot be loaded. The error is code 2... Setup cannot continue"
I finally received my 14z yesterday afternoon and was excited to to install Windows 7 via USB.
I used this guide (Install Windows 7/Vista from USB drive) which worked flawlessly, but now
I'm wondering where you guys are downloading your x64 drivers. I'm also wondering where I can find drivers for two instances of "Base System Device" showing up in my Device Manager
I'm not pleased with some of the bloatware the laptop shipped with, so I just wanted to make sure that I can clean install from the "Reinstallation DVD" my computer came with. The product key isn't on the disc but it does seem to be on a sticker on the bottom of the notebook. Am I safe in doing this? I've already backed up all my files...
I have just ordered my M4400 with an 128gb ssd disk. I already have official windows XP 64 bit so i didn't order an operating system. My question is as follows:
1. with the SSD disk will i be able to install windows on my own? Am i going to need an extra driver like with the SATA drives?
2. if yes how will i be able to load it during the install? will i need nlite or similar software to create a windows installation cd?
3. Has anybody done it and knows the actual procedure? any other recomendations for the installation? Are there any tricks apart from installing the drivers in the order mentioned in the dell site?
4. Finally can i partition the SSD disk through the windows setup like with normal HDs?
I have a lot of stability issues with Factory Vista x64 installation, I will try to install from scratch Windows XP x64 and Windows Vista x64, I am not very familiar with Dell Notebooks (ex Lenovo guy), please could you tell me where I can find the correct installation sequence for all the drivers and tools?, I did some tests already, but I was not able to successfully install Dell Control Point, I got and error in the middle of the installation, I think I am doing something wrong, also I have installed the driver for UWB, but I do not find the tool to setup the Wireless USB hub?
After reading Its OFFICIAL! Windows XP works perfectly on the XPS m1330!, I've decided to install XP on my M1530, but i'm unsure on what to do about step 1:
"Step 1... You need a version of Windows XP SP2 with built-in SATA drivers... I personally used LastXP (feel free to go find this on a torrent site somewhere,
you have the option to install one of your own valid XP keys as part of its setup). (The other way is to put SATA drivers on a USB stick and hit F6 during initial Windows setup...) .....
I'm trying to re-install Vista 32 bits on my laptop, but it gives me a error. The error that I get is:
Windows installation encountered an unexpected error. Verify that the installation sources are accessible, and restart the installation. Error code: 0xE0000100
Any documentation or instructions that I can follow to successfully install Windows 8 onto a Precision M4600 as if Dell had done a factory install?
Here are the problems I've faced with the installation I've tried to do myself:
Fan comes on high speed when screen is locked and gone blank.
Dell have not provided drivers for everything under Windows 8, which means I've got to figure out (a) which drivers I need to get from Windows 7 and (b) what order to install them in.
I've recently upgraded my 6930G to 4GB RAM as well as a 320GB & I decided to install Windows 7 64 bit RC instead of Vista.
I tried a test installation which went OK, with only 2 devices listed as requiring drivers to be installed are the Infra Red Device (which is listed as unknown device in Device Manager) and the fingerprint scanner.
What I was hoping is whether someone out there who's already installed Windows 7 RC and could help me with a guide for what other drivers should be installed, e.g. Chip set, ACHI etc. and whether they need to be installed in any particular order when it comes to installing for 'real'?
I noticed as well that the Acer empowering software was not compatable with Windows 7 (even in compatability mode), but am not sure whether this is any big deal?
I'm trying to upgrade the operating system on my laptop. Preinstalled Windows 7 x64 Home Basic, and I update to Windows 8 x64 Professional. At the end of the installation process hangs and all I see on the screen - this is the logo in the center of the screen, a few words at the bottom and five frozen in one position points that previously ran in a circle.
I repeated the installation several times, but all of these attempts have ended the same way.
Have any of you have a similar situation and how you solved it?
I'm in the process of upgrading my L521X/XPS 15 to Windows 8. The A09 BIOS introduced UEFI booting, which I of course intend to use. However, I can't get Windows installed when Smart Response is activated in the BIOS. The installer simply doesn't show any disks - even when loading the correct drivers. Changing to AHCI allows me to install - but of course without the benefit of Smart Response. Now, the question is: is it possible to use pure UEFI and Intel Smart Response Technology on the L521X?
I recently got a Aspire 9402 without HD, so I just pop in another HD. However, I have problem installing a fresh XP onto it. You guys might know the answer.
First, I put in an HD with XP installed that worked perfectly on a dell 600m. The Acer gave me a blue screen. This looks reasonable since everything is different.
Then I put in a formatted clean HD set to active, and a bootable windows XP installation CD into either the built-in DVD-burner or USB DVD-RW driver. During the startup, I pressed F12 to select the right boot device. However, Acer always gave me error message, and would not boot from CD. I also tried Windows 7 or Vista disks, still no go.
It seems to me that Acer is different to other brands I have dealt with, like Dell or HP. I am not sure getting a set of recovery Disks from Acer would solve the problem.
Is there a way to create a Windows Vista Installation disc from either the Hidden Partition or Recovery discs? I am not talking about a "Factory Restore"... I am talking about installing a clean version of Windows using the product key on the bottom of the laptop and then using the sony website or Recovery discs to install the drivers.

I tried installing DVD writer software and my internal DVD stopped working. With an external DVD writer connected via USB, I tried to fix/repair Windows XP. My internal DVD was still not working. I wanted to completely format (as I accumulated lot of junk files over the years) my HDD and do a fresh install using my external DVD writer. At this point my external DVD was detecting via USB option at boot-up. For some reason, I could only replace the WINDOWS folder and all other files were not deleted.
I took my HDD out, connected it as an external HDD via USB to another laptop and did start -> control panel - > Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> storage -> Disk Management: Delete Partition and Format my HDD.................
clean Windows 7 (64) installation. My guide is more of a 'bare bones' installation as I only installed what is needed for functionality of the big features. The guide is incomplete. I will continue to update the document as I make more progress. Please feel free to report anything you find that is incorrect etc.
keep in mind this is for a FZ280 E/B, I have no idea if it will work on other FZ models.
I am still having problems with the Bluetooth driver/software and the Wireless Switch Utility (what exactly is this needed for?). I believe the functionality for Bluetooth is dependent on the something to do with the Wireless Switch Utility. However I haven't had any luck installing either option.
There appears to be a problem with the power management. I unplugged the notebook for the first time and the battery went from 95% to 60% within 5 - 10 minutes. Any thoughts will be appreciated. I will be researching for a solution as well.
Below is the attached guide and a link to download the drivers I have used for the installation.
Recently i was gifted with an r32 think pad and i want to install win 7ultimate instead win xp pro that are already running. I insert the win 7 installation cd but when procedure starts it requests drivers which i dont have....
My 15-g092sa came with the atrocious win 8.1. I need to get some work done so I am trying to install my Windows 7 64 Pro. That DVD has been used for several times everytime I had replaced hardware. It boots up fine on other hardware. However, it will not boot on this machine. I found the BIOS settings and put the hard drive (windows boot manager) in the bottom. Everything else is on top of it and should boot before it. The DVD won't boot, a USB bootable ISO won't work...When trying to install from a running win8.1, the setup won't let me manage my partitions, a crucial reason for me to want to handle the installation myself. How do I boot things other than the bloatware that came with this PC?
I recently bought a Probook 455 G1 and I would like to create Windows 8 installation media for it. Â However, the setup tool provided by Microsoft doesn't accept the OEM key found by my KeyFinder program. Where to download (unmodified) 64-bit Windows 8 installation media legally?
My Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop will not boot up after using windows 7 installation disc in repair mode, as it has to restart several times during set up, it would not restart after first phase of operation. It never got to finish operation. Now it is just coming up with a black screen saying, Windows boot manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change it might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. insert windows installation disc and restart computer (which it will not let me do)2. choose your language settings  and then click next 3. click repair your computer
if you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance
file: BootBcd
status: 0x000000f
info: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data
After start up even pressing F8 before logo disappears numerous times it will not let me into that menu, so I cant access start up in safe mode or last known good configuration. No matter what I do it will not go past the above message on screen.

I bought a new Lenovo G510 laptop. I downloaded Windows 8.1 from Microsoft DreamSpark, and burned ISO image on a DVD disc. When I try to install it on my laptop, I receive an error (it might be wrong translated): Â Load Driver
A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB, or Hard disk driver. If you have a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with the driver on it, please insert it now.
Note: If the installation media for Windows in the DVD drive or on a USB drive, you can safely remove it for this step.  I already tried changing the following options in BIOS but no effect: Configuration tab -> SATA Controller Mode from AHCI to Compatible Boot tab -> Boot Mode from UEFI to Legacy Support Boot tab -> Boot Priority from UEFI First to Legacy First Also, I tried to insert CD with drivers which was in the box, but - of course - no appropiate drivers were found.  What happened? How am I supposed to install a Windows 8.1? What should I try?
The thing is that my envy 17 1050ep, pn wp002ea#ab9 works fine with original operating system Win 7 home premium x64, but as i need to add it to a domain i´m trying to install win 7 pro/business or ultimate x64 but the hard disk is never detected when i attempt to install it.   Bios installed is the most recent from hp website. Inside bios is not present any option to change about sata driver it´s very limited.  Tried to download and install Intel® 5 Series Chipset and Intel® 3400 Series Chipset, doesn´t work issue persist. With the original operating system installed Win 7 home premium, access sw setup, copy drivers folder, tried to install drivers, mainly the intel rapid storage, issue persist hard disk not detected.  Tested hard disk doesn´t have any error works fine with original operating system. Tested a new hard drive, same issue.  Board chipset is intel hm 55.  HP Support drivers available on hp site don´t work. HP Support just say unit is out of warranty and can´t provide support.  Intel support just say :  I understand the problem, however as I mentioned previously the main
I'm currently running XP and need to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro. I understand that I'll need to do a clean installation, but I'm wondering if my computer will support Win7Pro?  The computer is running an Intel Core2 Duo CPU t6570 @ 2.10GHz (2.09 GHz), 2.99 GB RAM.
I just got my brand new Y510P and realized that is unable to start Windows. Initially it displayed error "Windows could not parse or process unattend... [...unattend.xml] for pass [oobeSystem]..."
After reboot it start displaying another message - "Windows could not complete the installation... restart the installation". The operation system is Windows 8.1. Â Looks like I'm not the only person with this problem. System recovery doesn't work, obviously (as well as graceful Lenovo tech support).
I think that the problem caused by incorrect unattend.xml file which fails to install some unnesessary software and because of this error blocks Windows from finishing the installation. Â I see no other way rather than install Windows from another source. I don't want to pay for another Windows license and rather send the laptop back to Lenovo, but maybe there is another way?
Any complete list of the software needed for a clean installation of Windows 8.1 on the Hp ENVY dv7 7355er? On the page laptop is not given full list of the software.
I have just successfully installed 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium on my SR41M, along with some 64-bit sony drivers I managed to find...
However, in my device manager I am left with a single device unaccounted for, listed merely as "Base System Device". I have absolutely no idea what it is.
what driver I might need to install to resolve this..?
I just got a HDX 9200 last week and all this time I've been fiddling with tweaking the original HP image, installing clean Vista OSes (like twenty times by now), trying different drivers, running drivers-update scammers (like DriverDetective, RadarSync, etc.) just to look at the newest version number of the drivers, then crawling the web to manually find and try them, and so, and so on.
Of course, in the need of having a clean Windows Vista installation (since the HP image has a lot of crap, slowdowns, outdated drivers, not SP1 slipstreamed, etc.) I had to start from scratch.
After installing the clean Vista setup and all the drivers, I found that the QuickLaunch buttons were given me problems. What happened is, at the end, that everyone of them works BUT the TV button. I'm running on the QuickLaunch Buttons drivers 6.40, also QuickTouch installed for OSD, and QuickPlay 3.7 (updated from CyberLink) and still, when touching the TV button, nothing happens. Not even a click is hear like with the others. The strangest thing is that, if I turn the computer on by pressing the TV button instead of the power, it boots... and then it opens the TV module in the QuickPlay app.! Just as it should!................
