HP/Compaq :: HP And Dell Notebook Adapters Interchangeable
if I could use my girlfriend's Dell Studio 15 adapter for my HP HDX 16 notebook. The connector looks te same, and the volts/amps are on both adapters approximately the same.
Is there a chance I'd damage my HP notebook or her Dell adapter? Or can an adapter never damage a laptop, it just works or it doesn't?
And if it is possible, is it also possible the other way around? (my HP adapter to her Dell notebook?)

Dell :: Interchangeable System Disks
I have an Inspiron with Vista Home Premium that won't boot and the "restore to shipped conditions" options doesn't work. I need to reinstall the OS but have lost the disk - HOWEVER I do have the disk off a Vostro that I own which is labeled Vista Home Basic.
My question is whether I can use the Vostro's disk to reinstall on the Inspiron (whose product key I have), and if so would I end up with Basic or Premium?
Apple :: New Improved Macbook Pro Battery Interchangeable
Well they released a new battery for the new lineup of macbook pro's released today.
I just got a macbook pro (wish I waited lol) mine is the 2.66 with the 512mb graphics about a month ago. I see they upgraded to 2.8ghz and a larger HD.
Anyways the only thing that I really think I missed out on is the new 7 hour battery (the one previously in the 17")...battery life is important to me.
What I want to know is will the new battery work with my 15" macbook pro?
Dell :: AC Adapters (E-series)
I have seen some AC Adaptors for latitude e-series (Latitude E6500 & E6400) and they was very thin and light.
However, yesterday I received my M4400 and the AC is too big and heavy in comparation with que latitude ACs.
Reviewing the orders, I've seen that Latitude's have "450-11869 Power Cord: European 90W AC Adaptor 2 pin" whereas M4400 have "450-11970 Power Supply And Power Cord: Worldwide 130W AC Adapter with European Power Cord".
Dell :: M6400 Power Adapters
I need to get a extra power adapter for my M6400 Covet for home use. Taking the 210 watt power supply between the office and home is starting to take a toll on me (I take public transportation daily).
The 210 watt power adapter is only available with purchase of a port replicator. I could save some money an get a 130 or 90 watt power adapter, but I'm not sure what the downsides are. Does the 130 or 90 watt power adapter just take longer to charge? If the 130 or 90 watt power adapters degrade my performance, then I won't consider it.
What are other M6400 Covet owners doing for extra power supplies? For those of you who are using 130 or 90 watt power adapters, did you notice any decrease in performance?
Acer :: Intel Turbo Memory Adapters For My 5920g- Will Any Work
I have the blu-ray 5920g with bluetooth and a 8600, but no turboboost.
Not that its a massively great feature, but I'm guessing my motherboard has an empty spot where the turboost should be? and while these adapters are floating around I'd like to chuck one in there.
What is compatible withe the 5290g. I know turboboost never really took of, so was there only one type? or am I limited to the specific tuboboost adapter from another 5920g, or can I put in others?
Also how would it interact with readyboost and ram in 32bit and 64 bit OSes?
For example You can't go past 4GB of readyboost in 32 bit, even if your system ram is 1gb or 4gb, the max is always 4gb.
With 4gb of ram and 4gb of readboost will you still be able to use a further 2gb of turbooost in a 32 bit OS? Or are readyboost and turboost seen as the same as far as the OS is concerned, thus you will eiether have to use 2gb of readboosy and 2gb of turboost or 4gb of readyboost and no turboboost.
Dell :: 10.2 Supports Most Mobility Radeon HD Display Adapters (Studio XPS 16 Mobility Radeon HD 4670)
So at first I was confused but now I understand. First official, completely top to bottom support for all mobility cards (in the specified range of course) will come out with 10.3. What they didn't say that SOME mobility cards will be already supported with 10.2 and our " Dell (Studio XPS 16 Mobility Radeon HD 4670)" is on that list.
This was posted in another thread, but this wasn't the focus. They also have beta 10.3s...but I thought it was neat that official 10.2 WHQL certified drivers supported our card ....

HP/Compaq :: Hp Vs. Dell
I'm sure these questions come up all the time. I'm buying my first laptop and I'm confused. I'm trying to choose between these two. which is best and if they are good for the money The Dell is £550 and the HP £495. Or if I should expect better for the money. I'm not really going to use it for gaming but will do a lot of photo editing.

HP/Compaq :: Laptop Endurance: DELL Vs HP
I'm hesitating between these 2 laptops:
1/HP DV5-1017nr: [url]
2/Dell XPS M1530 (T8100, 4G, 320GB, Geforce 8600M GT)
Im not a gamer, but use multimedia more than average. The price dont make up my concern but what I really want is a good laptop to use for at least 2 years; ince I've been hearing stuffs like Dell has a worse hardware compared to HP.
HP/Compaq :: HP Envy 15 Vs Dell Studio XPS 16
I am planning on buying a laptop soon and I am looking at these two and I had a few questions:
First, assuming I had an unlimited budget which should I get? It looks like the HP is far superior but I want to know if it has any bugs/kinks that haven't been worked out. I also hear that it gets quite hot- will I be able to put it on my lap?
Second, is there a refresh to the Envy 15 that I should wait for?
Third, is there any one best time to buy (back to school sale etc.)? I am willing to wait until the end of August to buy if it would save me money (or if the line gets refreshed).
HP/Compaq :: Dell Inspiron 6000 Charger For 6710b
I have a 6710b which just crapped out on me, the power jack died. I assume....that it was because of the charger (universal) that I got with the PC from a friend. I have a charger for my old laptop (Dell Inspiron 6000) and the plug fits into the 6710b, will this work or will it burn out my new 6710b (which is being taken care of via warranty) The specs of the charger are.....:
MODEL: HPOQ065B83 REV A01
INPUT: 100-240V - 50-60Hz 1.5A
Not sure on the power specs of the PC itself, hopefully this is where you guys could help me out. I'm really in a bind here and would like to avoid spending the 75+ dollars HP wants for a new charger. Not to mention, I've heard some bad things about the HP chargers for a while now.
HP/Compaq :: How To OC This CPU
Does anyone have a good way to OC this laptop other than using ClockGen? I am basically wondering if there is a BIOS option. I know there are some OC guides out there, but this laptop is almost 3 years old, and as far as I can tell does not have an option in the BIOS. Also, my proc is the T2600, not the one is this review, but other than that exactly the same. I am looking to play around with this because it is old and I dont care too much if I fry it since my new hotness is on the way.
HP/Compaq :: HDX 16t
1. How do I make it so the volume 'screen' (the little pop-up) doesn't show up when I chance the volume?
2. Is there a way to completely remove and disable the fingerprint reader?
I'm using Vista Home Premium 64 bit.
HP/Compaq :: HP G60-418 Mxm
By the looks of the bottom of my laptop it seems it might be mxm compatible as there are lots of removable pieces... including one that looks alot like an mxm slot. I know that this laptop can be configured to come with the 9200m. This is a fairly brand new model but could someone tell me whether this thin is mxm compatible?
HP/Compaq :: Looking For New OS
Ive just about had it with Vista on my laptop and want to try a new OS before I junk this thing. Is anyone running Win7 or Ubuntu on a HP DV5z AMD 64 bit laptop? The machine is about a year old and I have 4gb of RAM and the thing is a dog. Ive used Ubuntu in the past on Dell laptops and its a pain to get everything running wireless drivers, flash, etc. Win7 being a RC may or may not have everything up to speed on for my machine.
So, if you have Win7 or Ubuntu on a HP DV5z please give me a shout, good or bad.

HP/Compaq :: HP DV7 Vs HDX 16
Can't really see much difference in these models....looking at Best Buy
Other than 17 vs 16 inch screen are their any benefits to build quality from 1 to the other?
I will be travelling so I would prefer the lesser HDX 16 incher but build quality is a concern
I travel by plane, train, bus every weekend so it needs to be able to handle a little beating
HP/Compaq :: Hp Dv2
I'm am deciding whether to buy this laptop for school use. It has a great size, stylish, and decent specs for a laptop that is so lightweight. The only turn off is that it was made for entertainment, but should this laptop do well for word processing, spreadsheets, and web surfing?
Would the 9 cell battery last for more than 5-6 hours? My budget is also under 700$ but it can stretch a little.
HP/Compaq :: DV2 Or DV3
I'm heading off to school, and these stylish, affordable notebooks have caught my eyes. The only problem is that I only get 2-3 hours of battery life on these notebooks although I can buy an extra battery. What I"m mainly doing is word processing, spreadsheets, iTunes, and web browsing but not all at the same time.
Here are my main questions and concerns:
Do these notebooks have good build quality?Is there any other way to charge the battery without having it in the notebook?Do they get hot?
I may have more questions to ask later.
I am buying this notebook in Canada.
Seeing that the battery tests I've seen on some reviews, they are surfing the internet with Wi-Fi on. I will not be, I'll usually be word processing. Should it last maybe 3 hours?
How long does the 9 cell last on the DV3?
HP/Compaq :: DV7
I own a DV7-1038CA, I actually decided to buy it after reading what people said about the DV7s on this forum. Unfortunately I have a problem .
I had opened up my DV7 to clean out the fan ( ****load of dust in there) and took the whole laptop apart. I put it back together and it worked perfectly fine for about 10 hours. The laptop worked great until I dropped it down on my table at a height of about 1 1/2 inches, not a significant height but the screen immediately turned white and the laptop shut off completely. It would not turn on at all, the power light would blink for less than a second and turn off and then I'd have to wait 30 seconds before I could get it to blink again.
I then took the laptop apart again and this time I checked if everything was plugged in properly. I decided to leave the unnecessary covers off so I could turn it on without having to screw it all back on, it turned for about 3 seconds....before I noticed the display cable to my screen was on the heat sink and had caught fire. I immediately turned it off but the damage had already been done, the fire had burnt through the wiring on the inside of the cable rendering my screen useless ( whenever it was plugged the charging light on the side of the laptop would turn off). At this point the laptop was turning on but would turn off after about 5 seconds (probably due to the fact that there was no screen) During this little fiasco I had ripped off the ZIF cable that connects the power button board to the Motherboard. So now I had no way to turn my laptop on, I ordered a new screen and a new power button board.......
HP/Compaq :: HP DV6
Looked at the HP DV6 today at circuit while browsing liquidation sales. Looks like a nice laptop. 16inch screen is nice, looks like less vertical screen but web pages look nice. Just a DV5 with a bigger screen?
HP/Compaq :: Wth Hp
i sent my laptop (Dv6000) in for repair.
I get it back with a messed up ram stick, a chipped battery and a size bezel that is not installed correctly and has a broken plastic snap...
I'm calling them right now and going to demand replacements, but idk if they are even going to do any thing...
HP/Compaq :: HDX 16, HDX 18
Not in a race on which is better mind you, since these two are next-of-kin. But I mean which parts will fit both? I've been looking for some upgrade parts to the HDX 18, but all I seem to find are parts rated for the HDX 16. So, save the obvious screen size difference, just how comparable are these two in parts?
The keyboards look identical; and the extended battery I found lists a match for the HDX 16 but not the HDX 18. Would there be a size difference?
HP/Compaq :: Xp On Hdx 16
i am starting this new thread for u people to post the xp drivers for hx 16...i have asked many but no response..so plz post the dwnload links for it..i have found some in this thread of hdx 18.. XP on HDX18t
HP/Compaq :: HP HDX 18t Able To Run XP
I was looking at getting the HP HDX 18t for my self to replace my older laptop. The only problem is the college I go to requires that the laptops you use run windows XP because some of the software they use for web design and programming classes apparently only works on XP. I looked on the HP website and they do not offer a downgrade option to XP. I also looked on the HP HDX 18t support site and they do not have XP drivers listed (except the wireless card and finger print scanner drivers).
So I was wondering if the HP HDX 18t supports Windows XP has anyone who owns this laptop ever downgraded it to XP succesfull before?
I don't mind Installing XP from scatch or setting up a dual boot with Vista but I'm just worried about buying the laptop and not being able to Run Windows XP.
Link to the laptop I was looking at.
HP/Compaq :: HP RMA For My DV6
My DV6 (see in sig) has an AMD Turion Ultra in it and everybody knows that they run real warm, even when I use HP recommended "power setting".
Anyway, undervolting is an option, there is a few free apps that can help doing it. BUT!
My Laptop is only 6 months old, so it's under warranty.
I contacted HP and they seem willing to initiate an RMA.
My Lappy's CPU runs at around 90 degrees celsius after 5 minutes of gaming (COD5).
Running 3DMARKS06 has the same effect...89-92 celsius, USING a laptop cooler, and there is NO dust whatsoever on the fins/exhaust/intake vents...
I know I could open it, reapply thermal paste (I have some Arctic Cooling MX2 laying around)..
HP/Compaq :: Hp Hdx 16
For some reason my wifes laptop keeps loosing the wireless adapter. It's as if its not installed. It is not even in the device manager! I reinstalled the adapter drivers and then it was found and worked, but on next boot up it was lost again. I then uninstalled the HP wireless software and used the windows software. It worked for about a day and now the adapter is gone again.
HP/Compaq :: HDX 18t
i am currently in the market for a new laptop and i have been looking at the HP HDX18t. i need a laptop for entertainment, as well as college work. i have a few questions that i need answered since i haven't been keeping up on the latest video cards and such...
-how long will the battery last per charge?
-i haven't heard too many positive things about the 130m, so is it easy to "upgrade" this card at say, bestbuy? i wanna play FPS mostly, like COD5 on max settings.. maybe crysis, but from what i heard not many laptops can run that game on max settings.
-is 2,700 a good price for everything included in this package, or is there something "better" i could buy?.............
HP/Compaq :: 16:9 Vs 16:10
I realize a lot of people are not happy losing the vertical space with 16:9.
But wasen;t this the case when we originally moved to widescreen. E.g. with 14" laptops the high-res displays used to SXGA+ which when they became WXGA+ we lost some vertical resolution.
HP/Compaq :: DV2
I wants one, I'm wondering if the only model that came configured with the Turion Neo x2 is the dv2-1199us model? [url]
They aren't sold in Canada anymore except in 'The Source' (formerly Radio Shack now owned by Circuit City) stores and they only have the 1020ca models, which I am not interested in.
Was there any other models with the turion neo and 3410 graphics? Doesn't seem to be that great a selection even on e-bay for dv2's
HP is really pushing the DM3 here in the Calgary area, but they all are the low end models, with the L335 Athlon and base graphics, I'd go for one of these 13 inchers I suppose if I could find one of the turion neo/ATI 4330 models but no such luck in Canada with HP
What the heck HP? Why oh why can Canadians not buy from the US site? The Canadian hpshopping site is very, very very sadly lacking as is our retail selection of decnt models.
HP/Compaq :: HP DV5 LCD
I wanna purchase the HP DV5 however my local store here has the 1280x800 resolution model...i want 1920x1080...is there any third party LCD panel that i can buy and fit on my laptop..screencountry.com has a lot..which one can fit on the hp?
HP/Compaq :: DV6
plannin on buying a HP pavillion Dv6 1110AX...
the config is as follows-
AMD turion X2 RM 74 2.2ghz
4 GB RAM
ATI HD 4650- 1 GB dedicated graphics
15.6 inch screen and the other usuals........
Is it a good computer for general using and some gaming..
Has anyone reviewed it yet?
Does it produce a lot of heat?..(I had a horrid experience with my previous AMD TL60)
HP/Compaq :: Dv2410us
I am currently using a dv2410us laptop. i was wondering if i could use the parts in it (probably just ram and HD) to make a new one. I would like to have a gaming laptop, because the dv2410us cant really keep up with even counter strike. Are there barebone laptops (with a good gfx card) that would be able to use the parts of my old laptop?
HP/Compaq :: Do HPs Overheat A Lot
I'm seriously considering to buy an HP when Windows 7 comes out, but I also hear that some of these HPs can overheat pretty bad. Maybe if you get one like an HDX, but I might go for something a little lighter, I won't be gaming extensively or anything, mainly web browsing and typing up notes for college. Is HP a pretty reliable company?
