HP/Compaq :: Installing A Bluetooth Module On My NX7400

Jul 16, 2009

Trying to get BT capabilities on my NX7400 and found the right card for it, but the seller warns I may need some kind of a cable to connect it. I'm trying to find out if this model comes standard with that cable or not.

HP/Compaq :: HP NX7400 Display

Sep 16, 2009

Today when I wanted to turn on the laptop, the screen was RED. I tried couple of times again, with connected to the power AC and without, but it starts Windows and everything is working, but my screen is still RED. I connected the laptop to an external monitor to check if the graphic card is causing the problem, but no, the picture was perfect. So I'm guessing it is something with inverters or the hole LCD. Do you have any ideas? And is is possible to buy spare parts from HP (I live in Germany)?

It is a HP NX7400 with WXGA (1280x800) Display.

HP/Compaq :: HP Nx7400 CPU Fan Full Throttle

Dec 16, 2009

I've been using my nx7400 for more than 3 years. I undervolted it with RM Clock and it was always running around 45-52 degrees idle and 53-59 under load. The fan only kicked in under load and over 55 degrees.

I changed the CPU fan for a new one, I changed the thermal paste for MX-3 and I regularly use compressed air to clean the heat sink.

Lately, it's running full throttle in intervals even in idle and temperatures 45-50. (5-15 seconds full throttle, 10 seconds inaudible... and so on)

I could always leave it on my nightstand 24/7 as it was inaudible.

Dell :: 370 Bluetooth Module + BT Travel Mouse

Jul 22, 2009

I wanted to add Bluetooth to my laptop so that I could get a wireless mouse (and down the road, a wireless keyboard as well). I know I could have went with some sort of RF wireless, but I just know that somewhere down the line I would end up losing the dongle -- so BT was the best bet!

Made my purchase 7/21 early in the AM, and my items arrived on 7/22 in the afternoon! I live in Indy, and the items came from near Dayton, Ohio... but still, talk about free shipping! I also purchased a new SwissGear/Wenger backpack, and that shipped separately from South Bend, Indiana -- and also arrived today on 7/22.

Went to install the BT module in my laptop, and my worst fear was true -- Dell sent me the wrong screws! There were many reviews on the Dell site about them sending out the wrong screws, and I was afraid it would happen, and unfortunately it did. I went through all my screws, and could not find anything that would fit... so, so that I could test the module I temporarily left it installed without being screwed it. The install was uber-easy, connect up the blue antenna, and done!

I really like this travel mouse, as well. I put some rechargeable batteries in it which I hope will help it last for quite a while. Its slightly larger than my previous wired travel mouse (from Logitech), but I like that. It isnt anywhere near being a full-size mouse, but its a good size for me. A little heavy with two AA batteries in it, but not terrible or anything. I'd might try to find a little pouch to stuff it in when taking it with me, for a little extra scratch-protection and what-not. Oh, I got the matte black version, cuz I hate glossy things that show fingerprints

I chatted with Dell tonight, and they are "supposedly" sending me the proper screws... in 3-5 business days. I tried to get them to upgrade that to overnight shipping so I would definitely have them this week, but they absolutely refused to do that. So now I need to shut the laptop back down and remove the BT card because I don't like the idea of it just dangling in there not being screwed down.

Anyway, thats my experience. My first attempt at an upgrade to my Studio 15 (1537). Next will be a back-lit keyboard, when the finances are not so ... strained After that, maybe a bluetooth keyboard if I can find a decent one that isn't like a bajillion dollars

HP/Compaq :: HP Nx7400 - Whenever I Plug The AC Adapter To My Laptop Whole Performance Is Very Slow

Apr 1, 2009

I have an HP Compaq nx7400. I've had it for over 3 years now. I've never changed its battery ever since I bought it.

Specs: [url]

Over the past few weeks, I've been having an unusual problem. Whenever I plug the AC adapter to my laptop, the whole laptop performance - from the second I switch it on - is very slow. The moment I pull the AC adapter from the laptop, it instantly operates at a normal and fast speed again!

I figured that it must have been a problem with the AC adapter (it's had its fair share of use - being swung around and dragged to lectures...). So I ordered another one off Ebay. Today, I got the new adapter and when I plugged it in, the laptop only went on AC power. It worked fine - fast as normal. However, it was not charging - just on AC power. I am starting to question if the adapter was really as "genuine" like it was advertised on eBay. But anyway... after about 4 hours with the new adapter on AC power, it stopped recognizing the battery altogether and alerted me with a Critical Battery sign. Of course, a few minutes later, it went dead on me - the laptop switched off. It was as if I removed the AC adapter myself, only I hadn't. Now, I am trying to plug it in again (the new one), to see if it will be able to power up again and it just won't respond at all.

On the other hand, when I put the old AC adapter, the laptop switches on but doesn't charge. Again, it is extremely slow with the adapter on, and fast when I pull the wire out. Only for a minute or so until it dies on me again...

Lenovo P/Y/Z Series :: Bluetooth Module Not Recognized By Y550 IdeaPad

Aug 9, 2009

I recent bought another y550 IdeaPad running Win7 because I like the one I already had that my wife uses.  The new y550 came with a Broadcom bluetooth module but the computer did not recognize the module during startup.  I thought the module may have been bad so I bought another one on eBay that had be tested by the seller.  I finally found the location of the module by taking the computer apart.  (It is located under the palm rest bezel.)  When I installed the device and put the computer back together (except the keyboard for access to the bluetooth module socket located under the keyboard), the computer hung up while it loaded but the bluetooth icon on the speaker panel continued to be lit.

I unplugged the module to restart the computer and plugged the module back in.  Windows recognized the device and the drivers were loaded.  I put keyboard back in place and the device worked until I accessed the BIOS on the next start up.  After that, the module was never discovered by the computer regardless of deleting the drivers for the module and the energy management software, etc.

When I reboot the machine, the computer never seems to look at the bluetooth module because the bluetooth light never illuminates.  Also, the Fn+F5 short cut does not show a bluetooth device as being installed on the computer.  How to get the computer to recognize the bluetooth device since I think it might be a machine issue or BIOS issue rather than a windows 7 issue.

Dell :: Installing The Bluetooth 365 In A Studio 14z

Jan 6, 2010

I just ordered a Studio 14z from dell.

- C2D 6600
- 3gb ddr3 Ram
- 320gb 7.2k
- 900p lcd
- backlit keyboard

The only option I missed out on was the internal bluetooth.

So I read the Service Manual for the 14z and it doesn't seem like it would be to much trouble to manually install the 365 module. Also I found the 365 internal module on ebay WITH the mounting screws. It seems like a perfect fit.

Acer :: 5920g - Installing Original Bluetooth

Apr 4, 2009

i need some information regarding installing original bluetooth in an Acer aspire 5920g.. i know it has been discussed in the past Does the 5920 have blue-tooth? but since this thread is locked i guess i have to ask in a new thread..

The ones who tried it, how easy was it? from the manual it didn't seem too hard the only think that seems kind of dificulty was removing the keyboard..Is there any trick for it?

Also what is the odd module?

Regarding the heat grease, it was mentioned in the other thread
"Heat grease:

When re-assembling and when you're about to put in the thermal module, make sure there's adequate heat grease on the CPU (don't put TOO much on). Sometimes taking off the thermal module can upset the heat grease, you want to make sure there's a good thermal path for the CPU."

Is this, only in case we notice that there isn't adequate amount? or should be applied some in any case?

HP/Compaq :: Installing OS

Jan 19, 2009

I recently recieved HP dv5-1119nr as a gift for Christmas. It has a Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit OS. I am a DJ and Use Numarks Virtual Vinyl audio Interface which is for my turntables. I have no complaints with the notebook. Unfortunately, the interface is not compatible with 64-Bit, and according to Numark may not be anytime soon. I had a friend upload his Vista 32-Bit OS for me to download, as a matter of fact he sent me two to choose from. I have (frustratingly) tried multple times to burn and re-install a 32-Bit system. I have tried using Cyberlink DVD Suite to save the .iso file (I understand that). It shows up looking like a winrar file, but in properties it does say .iso. Once burn is finished I try to reboot. Under BIOS, CD Drive is enabled and first. But it doesn't Boot! Upon looking at the disc it shows 2 files; BOOTCTG.BIN and BOOTIMG.BIN. What am I doing wrong?

HP/Compaq :: Installing A New In A Dv7-1175nr

Feb 21, 2010

Just bought a new 2.5 HDD for my laptop. It's suppose to arrive tomorrow and I thought I'd get on the front side of the installation. Is there anything I should be knowing beyond a simple 'unscrew the bay cover on the bottom of the dv7, unscrew and remove the old drive, unscrew the old drive from the caddy, screw the new drive into the caddy, place the new drive/caddy assembly into the same bay, push the assembly into the connector slot, screw the caddy down, button up the dv7, and do a clean install of Windows 7'? I've been told that I may have to do some special type of reformatting before initial and first use of the new drive or else it may not work properly. Is this true?

I've also heard that some BIOS adjustments might allow me to use both the old and new drives,... true? Will using a 7200 rpm drive in one bay along with a 5400 rpm drive in the second bay cause problems? If not, should I dedicate the faster drive to holding data or elect for it to be the boot drive?

I've tried finding something on HP's site with very little success.
